Games & Challenges
Moderators: coach_k, iae

This game has been done before, but I thought it would be fun to bring it back.

The idea is simple:

Each post begins with the next letter of the alphabet. After Z, you loop back around to A.

Example:

Anyone tired today?

Bored... more than tired really

Caffaine!!  maybe that'll help keep ya goin!

You can be as creative as you want, but try to keep it on the same subject, or it isn't quite as fun.

I'll start....

Any plans for the weekend?

So... I wonder if they have any low calorie lip gloss??  I always thought is was the food I was snarfing down that was making me fat.  Stoooopid lip gloss!  thanks for settin' the record straight you guys!
The problem isn't the calories really - its the fat.  I think lip gloss is in the "fats" part of the food pyarmid.  And its not a good fat eitehr.  Anyway- enough about lip gloss and the hazards of using it...I'm seriously considering adopting a dog from a shelter but feel bad because my husband and I are gone for 81/2 hours during th day.  What do you think?  Is it too much time alone for a dog?

Usually, if the dog has a way to get outside, it will be OK.  We are considering the same, after we lost our little inherited min-pin in 2006.  We had a siberian husky and the min-pin while both of us work those many hours.  The dogs tend to want to run away for the first month or so (the husky dug under the fence), and they bark until they are used to things, which may upset neighbors.

Most of the shelters we have looked at are very good at matching people's situations with a dog's personality.

Very true about having a way for the dog to get outside somehow.  I have a doggie door and it's freakin awesome!!  they come in and out as they please... and the best part about that is NO ACCIDENTS in the house.  it's the ones that are STUCK outside all day that usually start destroying things...  it would be nice if there were two though...to keep eachother company
We were thinking the same thing, but you have to be careful about the breeds.  We want a Jack Russell terrier, and they tend to want to be the only dog.  You also have to make sure they will be OK with kids, present or future.
Xtra caution should always be taken when choosing a breed.  I actually think we'll adopt an older dog so we already know his personality. It will probably end up being a mutt, but thats fine.
Yay!!  I love mutts... especially the ones from the ones from the shelter, they seem to appreciate their new home when they get adopted.  Even strays have appreciation... awww I love all ♥ animals with all my ♥!! what kind of animals might be included when I say 'all animals'?
Zebras would be in there, and elephants, and cats, and dogs, and lions, and horses, and well... ALL animals.  What kinds of animals do you have?  Right now I just have one cat and she runs our household.  She is definitely the boss.
A golden retriever and a black lab/boarder collie mix.... they're my babies!!  I've so many different animals in the past though.... when I lived in south america, I had a monkey, two parates, a cat, and one dog.  When I win the lotto.... my plan is to buy 100-200 acres of land as a rescue for animals that were held in captivity... awww... that way they can roam about as a free animal.
Barn cats from the neighbourhood were as close as I got to having pets when I was growing up, but now hubby wants a dog. We have 3 teenagers and live in the country so it's probably a good time for it. He wants some sort of hound probably. Any suggestions?
Can't really recommend a hound dog.  We've always had house dogs.  German Shepards, Dobermans, Siberian Huskies, and the Min Pin are what we've had.
Do tell me about Min Pins please!  I really love them - they seem to have so much personality.  I need to know more info about them though.
Even though they are small, they are tough---they won't back down from a contest of wills.  They kind of like to bark, and my father had to have the dog de-barked after complaints from the neighbors.  Ours took a lot of care, because he had skin allergies and ear infections frequently.  But he was great company (a lap dog), and stayed at home alone without problem; he was always overjoyed when we came home.  Little dogs really work out best for us, too.
Frankly, I think most dogs are fantastic.  I guess I'll just have to see what lovable mutts are available to adopt from the SPCA when I'm ready.   Moving on to a different topic.....I'm thinking of calling uot of work for the rest of the week (thurs/fri) just because I have a ton of sick time.  But then I'll just sit around and do nothing at home. What do you think?
Great idea!!  everyone needs a break from the idoiots coworkers sometimes!!  but who am I to talk, I am not working right now.  at least you can get some extra sleep... lounge around... hang out online... go to the pound to check out the babies... workout a few extra calories... read... sit there and look at the wall... sheeeesh, there's tons to do at home ;)  'cept cleanning hehe
Having to use of lose sick days gives people odd incentives. Here, we just take whatever we need when we need it. If I had to use them, I would go skiing---the crowds and the traffic are so much less on the weekdays; it's like a totally different experience. St. Patrick's day is coming--why not try a fun run of some sort that involves a lot of Guiness drinking afterwards.
I don't have to use them.  I just keep accumulating them forever until I leave here, at which point a percentage is paid out up to a certain amount of money. However, I have about 4 weeks (on top of my 5.5 weeks of vacation that I have saved) and will never be able to use them all and won't get paid out for all of them.
Jealous of that I am.  They stopped letting us carry over vacation a couple years ago.  Anything we hadn't used was bought back for half price. Grrrr....
Keeping it... I wouldn't do that for half price, only because WHEN you use your leave you get paid for the FULL amount.... PLUS you don't have to show up to work ;)
Let me tell you what I ended up doing.  I called out sick (which I wasn't) with the plan of doing tons of spring cleaning, going running, and visiting a relative at the hospital .  But then I ended having to get a partial root canal, which needs to be finished tomorrow.  So none of my plans happened and I'll be calling out again tomorrow for the rest of the procedure.  My lie ended up not being a lie after all.  I really did need to use my sick time.
