This is abit to silly to post in the other forums but...
lol...ok here goes...i'm having trouble locating my waistline!
i have 3 measurements...29" around the bellybutton, 27" above the belly button, and 26" at it's narrowest (few inches below the lower ribcage)...i get so confused when needing to plug in measurements for waist-hip ratio calculators and body fat estimators and stuff? they always always for your waist at it's narrowest so i use 26" but i wear size 29 jeans so i feel kinda weird?
someone set me straight please...i know this is just so odd...lol

Your natural waist is where you bend side to side. Which would be your measurement right below the ribcage where most women are narrowest.
I'm female and even when my weight was high........my waistline takes a sharp inward line so it's very easy to find.
Your waist is the most narrow section of your torso.
Thats why people can be high-waisted or low-waisted, because peoples waists location on their torso varies depending on where the most narrow section is. There are certain clothes particularly jeans the compliment high versus low waisted people.

thnx...well its not that i have trouble 'locating' my waist...its just i didn't know which measurement i should consider my waist...i've been told i have a defined waist, but i never did know which measurement to take. so i guess 29" is my belly and 26" is my waist. ok, i guess tht makes sense...i guess i'm high waisted then? :s i'm not sure...
Well, when you say "waistline" usually people mean where your pants ride (around the bellybutton). But yeah, the definition of "waist" for measurements is around the (usually) narrowest point, called the "natural waist." The natural waist is always above the bellybutton in females. It's one of those cases where there's a strict definiton and a colloquial definition of the same word.
not everyone wears their pants around their belly button. Some people wear their pants way below their belly button at their hips. and some people wear the "mom" jeans which do come up right near the "natural" waist line. And if someone happens to have a short torso then the natural wasitline and the hips happen to be a lot closer to the belly button the someone with a longer torso.
So if some one wants to know what size pants to wear (in inches) measure around where you want your pants to sit, whether it be at your belly button, above, or below.
