Will I be able to lose weight?
I've been measuring myself incorrectly, so im acuatlly 5'2" AND 127 pounds. Im really upset about my new bmi... Since im not 5'4" like I thought, now I have to lose even more weight. My goal is to be 100 pounds(a bmi of 18.3 which is healthy for 14 yr olds) My bmi now is in the 85th percentile, very very close to overweight. How much weight can I lose in a week though? I really want to lose at least 1 pound, and I really really dont want to lose half a pound a week because I wont be able to tell if I lost any weight. I TRY to eat 1800 calories a day to maintain my weight, but I always over eat. I used to eat only 900-1100 calories a day the first month I started my diet, and I lost 4 pounds. Now I eat too much food and I dont know how much calories I need to lose weight. I exercise 4 times a week, and all my exercises are about 40 mins high intensity sometimes 30 mins. What is this activity level? Also, I want to gow taller, will I just have to wait a couple of years? My doctor told me my growing will be slow... I dont really get that. I think its cause I had my period in 5th grade. Now im in 8th, should I still be growing every year??
First, it is said to be safe if you lose 1-2 lbs per week.
Second, it is also said that someone who is your age (a crucial growing age) should not try to lose to much weight but rather mantain as if you try to lose weight now you may not grow properly...
You don't stop growing till you're 25. Even if you don't grow taller, you are still growing and metabolizing very quickly on the inside.
By the way, why do you feel that you *have* to be a certain weight (you said 100 lbs) or a certain BMI number? That's a little weird...
Why is your goal weight 100 lbs? The healthy and doctor recommended weight for your height is 120-125lbs. This can seem much heigher than your goal but someone who just diets and is 120 lbs looks worlds different from someone who exercises and is toned at 120. Remember, muscle weighs more than fat.
I agree with agmilano.
You also have to consider, if you want to grow taller, naturally you're going to gain weight.
And as you age, you're naturally going to gain weight.
Bone density and suchness.
If you decide you want to look lean and toned via strength training, muslce will make you gain weight.
If you want to lose weight, feel free to cut off a limb, then you'll lose 10 pounds eeeasily!
If you want to lose fat, strength train and toss the scale. It's a bunch of horse**** the majority of the time.
40-30 minutes is less then an hour, so moderately active should be fine.
If you're walking around and doing non-intentional exercise, I'd bump it up to the active level.
