AbRail? Anyone ever used one?

Quote  |  Reply

Hi everyone, I'm thinking about buying this exercise machine called the AbRail. It seems to good to be true but at the same time I really want to believe it. They are $400 off of their site www.abraildirect.com/ or only $200 plus free shipping off of ebay. I do a lot of other exercises but always don't feel like I'm targeting my abs enough. I think this would be a great machine for me. But about half a year ago I bought this stupid "Red" exercise machine thing and completely wasted my money and don't want it to happen again. Doe's anyone have experience with this? Thanks!

Derek

I just saw this thing on TV for the first time this morning.  My first thought.... GIVE ME A BREAK!!  And now, reading your post, I feel that way again.  $400??!!!???  Although, it does have the nice bar across the top that would be a great addition to your closet space when you discover you've wasted your money.

The most effective ways to work the abs can be done lying on the floor... or even lying on your bed for that matter.  Or, if you feel like you NEED a piece of equipment... how about an exercise ball?  They are only about $15 or less.  I have one, and I love it.

Do some searching here on the site, and elsewhere on the internet for ab exercises.  I suspect you will find that you don't need a $400 piece of metal to get what you want.

 No.

No way.

Don't waste your money. Read this by Olympic stength coach Charles Poliquin and don't ever fall for another exercise machine scam ever again.

If you truly isolate the abs, after six to eight weeks an athlete will plateau the rest of his life. Research has shown that the most coordinated athletes master the most difficult abdominal exercises in six to eight weeks. The only things that increase abdominal improvement are squatting and deadlifting.

Have those guys into core training ever trained anyone strong? Bring me someone then. I find that it's just a con job and a disgrace to the strength coaching community.

If you've been doing crunches for 8 weeks or more, you've got all the abs you need to do real work on them - with squats and deadlifts. To have the perfect 6-pack all you need to do is to drop to a bodyfat percentage below 12 so it's visible, because your abs are already perfect - you only stop working them when you are lying down. That much the "core exercise" people got right, but from there to having you do two trillion different ab exercises that are all irrelevant to developing core strength when all you need to do is squat and deadlift - well, I guess people will do anything for money...

Wow. Thanks for the advice guys. I'm going to buy an exercise ball and also follow melkor's advice. I'm gonna continue to do crunches and sit ups and add in squats and deadlifts. I can't believe I was almost tricked into buying another exercise machine. Although, I would love to buy the Bowflex Treadclimber if I had the money. :P

Thanks Again, Derek
