Abs Diet & Whey Protein?
It's not a bad book, and most of the foods they like ARE good and good for you.
Whey Protein's an acceptable source of protein for anyone lacking in protein. Which.. you won't be if you actually do the Abs Diet plan. The Abs Diet is protein heavy and kinda light on Carbs, which is something I disliked about it.
Personally, I wouldn't want to follow that diet plan, exactly, but there's some decent recipes inside.
I love the ABS diet plan... And yes, Whey is formulated for building muscle because the ABS diet revolves around building muscle in order to burn more calories (more muscle = more calories burned)
The main reason I like it is because it supports meat, peanut butter and cereal... lol My favorite foods...
And I too have read about the ABS diet--but have not read the book. I think it sounds like an excellent diet, but somewhat expensive at times. It may be lower in carbs like hkellick said, but that is because the only way that your abs are going to show is if you only eat the carbs your body needs. You can do all the sit ups in the world, but if you don't have a clean diet, those abs aren't going to pop out!
good luck...try the protein--its great!
Thanks everyone for their replies! I'm looking forward to finishing the book and getting started!
Yes, carbs are very important! And eating them at breakfast and lunch is exactly what you should be doing. The carbs you eat however, should not be refined at all...no white rice, or white pasta, no white bread. Whole grains, whole grains, whole grains. If you want potatoes go for sweet potatoes. Bascially clean eating is no processed stuff for sure. Lots of "clean" protein, like lean beef, fish, chicken, whey protein, egg whites, natural peanut butter etc. Little sugars, and complex carbs, fruits and veggies. And if you eat any dairy, it should also be low fat--the protein in dairy is a good source, but sometimes the fat can slow us down. So if you eat cheese, choose part-skim string cheese over a slice of cheddar.
I hope this helps. It can be hard to eat clean, but it is VERY similar to the abs diet, in fact they may be the exact same thing (again I never read the book).
p.s. about the whey protein, some people use water to keep cals low, but I think that using skim milk makes it much creamier and tastier...and if it's only 200 cals and good for you why not enjoy?!
I use one from GNC...use skim milk, add a banana, add fax seed, ice.....Ends up filling the entire blender and me for hours!
I'ts a good for me chocolate milk shake without all the fat and sugar!
I'm in week 2 of it. I really like it so far. The Whey protein you can buy at like trader Joe's, GNC, etc. Wish you luck. If you need support, definitely contact me.
hi everyone!
well, i've heard good and bad stuff about the ABS Diet book but i decided i want to try it. I am 18 years old and although i dont consider myself being obese, i surely am overweight since i cant se my abs.
I bought "Body Fortress Super Advanced Whey Protein (chocolate flavored)" but the guy on the store told me that this product was for bodybuilders or people who lift a lot of weight otherwise you will get fat, and now I am confused cause I was planning on following the book's workout program; and the book's diet recommends the whey protein
. I only have this questions
-did i get the wrong powdered whey protein?
-if i did, where can i get the right one?
-if I am planning on following the smoothies recipes that come on the book (which are pretty much the ones that have the whey on them) and follow the book's workout program, will i get fat and bulky like the guy from the store told me? ![]()

At the risk of pointing out the obvious, most people can't see their abs. For the average woman having visible abs means having a fat percentage of only 14-16.
You've come to the right place my friend. There is no one magical food that alone can make you fat, it's all about calories. I can assure you the guy at the store was wrong and this is coming from a 125 lb woman who consumes protein shakes on a regular basis.
hey eveliina! thanks a lot for your reply, now i am really into starting to change my habits (the bad ones lol) and well yeah sorry about the "cant see the abs" statement i didnt meant it literally but it is good that you got what i really meant. it is just that i have more abdominal fat than in any other place so that is why i cant (or a bunch of people like me) see them >_<
anyways...thanks again!
The "Body Fortress Super Advanced Whey Protein (chocolate flavored)" is only about 100 calories per scoop. I don't think you have to worry about it making you fat. Just don't get anything that says "weight gainer" or anything like that on it and you shouldn't have to worry about it. Some of those weight gainer formulas have over 1000 calories per serving.
hey bubbaluffaguss, thanks for your advice, i will make sure not to buy anything with "weight gainer" or similar to that =] it is good to know that!
thanks!

So you can log your weight -- which allows you to do the following:

- Analyze the trend of your weight (see under Recent in the figure above)
