can we do abs, lunges and pushups everyday
i do weight training every alternate day but can we do abs, lunges and pushups everyday
Only if you do it at recovery intensities - less than 40% of your max load. And at that point it's better to just take a walk or something and give your muscles a break.
psh- do them every day if you want.
if your arms/legs feel terribly sore though, then take a day off.
alternate , otherwise you are not giving enough time for recovery. You dont do arms every day , you dont do legs every day...dont do abs every day.
Actually, international_chick, it's important to let your muscles rest and repair after working them. Abs, quads, lats - they all need to repair after you work them hard.
If you don't let a muscle group rest, it will not build anything. The basis of weight training is that you are essentially breaking down your muscles. Its the day of rest that repairs and builds them, either more bulky (fewer reps more weight) or lean (less weight more reps). I've found that working abs and arms one day and back and legs another works pretty well. You definately don't want muscle fatigue!

If you are female (and not on steroids), you don't have to worry about bulking. Work with heavy weights - it pays off.

You might not get bulky but you definitely need a recovery day in between weight lifting sessions. Male or female. You never want to work the same muscle groups 2 days in a row. Recovery is just as important as lifting. Without proper recovery time you will damage the muscles and not see the results you want.
