What is your absolute red light food?

Quote  |  Reply

The thing or things that if you eat, it's going to be a downhill slide into the fat barn for the rest of the day?

I have a couple things that if I indulge just one bite, I can't stop myself. Nilla Cakesters. I told my boyfriend that they taste like happiness. But for 330 (empty) calories, it's just too much.

My others are sugar cookies, peanut brittle (my boss brought in a box and put it in the common food area today...I'm trying so hard to resit!), and french fries.

Ahh, french fries....

french fries and nuts! once l start it is hard to stop

Omg I totally am adding to the goldfish insanity...I bought a bag last week on sale, thought they would be a good little snack (hadn't had them in forever)...def finished it in 2 days...addicting!

Some of my others are...

ice cream, even the portion controled cups

homemade brownies or cookies

any kind of chips, crackers - don't buy them unless it's a small bag at subway every once in a while

Peanut butter for sure, one little dip turns into half a jar and it's like where on earth did all that go??

Nuts - at least they are healthy fats

Basically any sweet/junk....and weird thing for me is that most of the time during the week I can control myself even with these things, but on the weekends I'm a maniac and after one bite def down hill...

Cupcakes

d*** you betty crocker and the sweet little admin who brings them to the office

OMG yes me too.  the whole foods by my job has a machine that grinds fresh nut butter in 4 flavors.  i am doomed. :)

frozen m&ms on a spoon full of peanut butter

pretty much anything I can have multiples of:

-cupcakes

-hot dogs

-doughnuts

-french fries

-pizza

-cake

-cookies

you get the point. I have cut most of them out of my diet but I allow myself maybe once every other month to indulge....just a little.

For the past 40 years---fresh from the vat of hot fat---warm, Krispy Kreme donuts.  I live 10 minutes from their headquarters in Winston-Salem, NC.      Nothing like them.  I lose all control if I eat just one bite!

tortilla chips & sugary cereal. It's all down hill from there.

I have been able to regulate almost all of my food faves and eat appopriate portions since I started this whole weight loss thing 5 weeks ago except....NACHOS!  God, I love nachos! I haven't even had any since I started counting calories because I have no way to figure out how to do it.  I suppose I could make a teeny, tiny plate with all the calories already calculated but it's not something I want during the day.  It's more of a we're out at a place that serves them and they sound so good type of thing!  Anyway, I am certain that if I were presented with a tray and made the plunge, it would blow me completely out of the water for that day.  I know I will have to deal with this eventually but for now, I am just avoiding it.

oh boy, I forgot to add.. POUTINE!

Any other Canadians with me on this on?

cereal. How bizarre is that? But it's seriously the food I always end up bingeing on.

pshh..  O_O!!!

*Ice cream.
*pizza
*Any baked good [cakes, cupcakes, cookies, brownies] argh!! those effin cinnabon rolls...730 sweet sugary empty calories! T.T, and  oh! those chewy chips ahoy! 2 years ago I ate a whole package..one of those big ones..in like..2 days... >.<  wth?! I mean, i felt sick and all, but i just continued eating S: binge or what?
*anything that's on my family's new year's dinner[mostly mexican food].
*eggs with chorizo.
*chocolate! and nutella! [haven't had nutella in forever...because I could eat the whole jar...like i did in the old days..feeling sick and all...continued eating]
*coffee frapuccinos/chai latte's from starbucks... It's torture for me just getting the tall one... [of course I have a venti once in a while, it keeps me sane xD]
*a subway-like restaurant near my house..there's NOTHING that I don't like!
*anything that I can add BBQ SAUCE to it!

Mmmhmm.there are more...but can't remember right now...

Peppermint ice cream!! Fortunately it's only available in December so I only get 1 tub a year -- but it doesn't seem to last more than a day or two.  :(

wow so many... i can't have any dried fruit, chips, crackers, candy, cookies, peanut butter... anything remotely tasty and snacky that i can eat by the handful/spoonful. i have to be really careful - sometimes i'll get so hungry that i'll just start eating bread with butter on it. or lactaid cottage cheese. it really sucks because i can't really have anything in the kitchen that doesn't take a while to cook. i can't have any snack foods, but i'm trying to get to a point where i can introduce things back into my cubbard without them disappearing within days...

oh and poutin? yeah we have this thing in jersey called disco fries.... totally amazing. i only have them about once a year though, so it's not so bad

Cereal and bread.  Can't stop with just one serving.  It's no wonder I end up with like 100g of fiber at the end of the day =\

butter on bread! its deadly. i could eat bread and butter all night long.

protien bars/balance bars etc. once i have one, its all i want to eat all day. i can have three and think thats a great dinner, which is actually showing a great deal of self restraint. its better not to have them in the house, alas.

any ice cream! i only allow the little size through the front door, as it will be gone by noon tomorrow.

a daily mid day treat from the coffee shop bakery case. if i do it one day, i want it every day, mid day, tween 1 and 4 pm. also very deadly. evening candy bar is the same way. if i do it one day, i want it every day on late work nights. bad bad bad. no no no!

Kraft Dinner.

I have to make 1/3 of a box for my son and serve the whole thing to him.  If I made a whole box I would eat whatever he didn't.  Its dangerous to be near me if there is KD around.  And at 1200/box - its not calories I can afford to consume right now ;)

Probably not a food ..but soda. I have pretty much eliminated them from my diet. There is tons of foods which you guys list in my house..  it dont bother me to see them or to eat a bite. I eliminated the word 'fail' from my diet also.

Milkshakes, milk chocolate, any types of chips and cheese. I really have to have a huge deficit in my day to have some.

Goldfish--when I started this I was really good about counting out 55 for 1 serving. But lately I count out the 55 and then I'm done and say "oh well it was only 140 cals I can have more) but instead of counting out anohter serving, I just grab a handful and then another handful, etc. etc. and on and on.

My boyfriend loves to go out to eat and one way I am trying to limit the damage is avoiding the bread and butter that the servers always bring. If I eat some, though, then it's all over--I order whatever I feel like, eat more than I should and end up sharing dessert with him. So I am working on avoiding that dang breadbasket!!!
