absolutely DELICIOUS 60 cal dessert that's all natural and perfect for fall!!

So something similar to this has been posted before, but I just had to share my take on it because it's SO good. Take a small apple and either slice it or cut it into chunks. add some cinnamon and put it in the microwave for 1:15. it's amazing! If you want you could add splenda or something but it doesn't even need it. if you have a little more room to spare calorie wise, you could even add some oats and/or a bit of honey beofre you microwave it to make it kind of like apple crisp. But even with just apples and cinnamon it is divine. And it make's your ktichen smelll like fall. I had it with a cup of decaf constant comment tea- such a feel good combination of flavors, the perfect way to unwind!!! I just had to share because I am in heaven right now :-)

Apples = just plain w00t.
I usually just core it, slice it up, dab some peanut butter on em and away I go.  Wish I would've read this earlier though because its friggin cold and I was debating whether or not to bake my apple and just didnt wanna wait :P  Would've sliced it up and thrown it into the microwave with some cinnimon if I had read this earlier :P
sounds good..i'll have to try it.
I sort of do this, except I do mine in the frying pan with just a bit of butter... and then sprinkle with cinnamon and maybe a little brown sugar. It tastes like apple pie without the pastry!! Its my new favourite dessert!
This does sound yummy, I want to try it tomorrow. BUT, do you just use the regular old cinnamon? Or do you have a cinnamon sugar mix you use? I plan on going to buy some cinnamon tomorrow so I can have this as an evening snack tomorrow!

double post, oopsies!

Oh, I love doing this!
I did it last week. Another great add in is brown sugar, and I even sometimes but a crushed ghram cracker at the bottom.. so good :P
my god thats weird...i discovered that same thing myself the other day. lol.
Anyone tried making it in the oven?
I don't have a microwave.
It sounds very nice though :)
Not that we very frequently buy apples... but i think we may even have an apple TREE somewhere in my backyard!
I don't know if it fruits though so i'll have to ask my mother :)
sounds good i'll try it sometime
how funny, i just tried this for the first time the other day! i went apple picking last weekend and have a TON of apples to eat still haha.

and this morning, i did the same thing, and then topped it with my usual plain steel cut oatmeal, and about a tsp. brown sugar! it was AWESOME!! such an delicious, healthy, filling breakfast.
yay! great idea.i never thought of doing this, and i had one apple in my fridge. gave it a go without any added sugar or honey.very tasty. i just read a post about the benefits of cinnamon too. my new favorite snack!
great idea, thanks for this one!!!

I've been doing this for awhile now, it's superyummy. :)

I sometimes add low-fat yogurt on top of the hot apple. It's delecious!

Oooh, I love doing this. It's perfect for cravings. I have a few ways to add some spice if you ever want somethin different... Try a pear sometime too. Or, do both, OR cook them, mash them together, mix with a little low-fat yogurt and freeze it for an ice-cream-like treat.

BUT, since it's getting close to the holidays, I have a good way to make baked apples, but it is more time consuming.

Get a can of plain pumpkin pie filling (the right kind is about 40 calories for 1/2 cup serving and very low fat/sugar) and core and slice your apples in half. Brush them with a little lemon juice if desired.  Bake the apples in the oven (375 deg.), cut side down, until they're tender (15-20 min). Then scoop out their centers, saving the scoops, until they make little bowls (keep them thick enough though).  Mix the pumpkin pie filling with some cinnamon, nutmeg, maybe brown sugar, a tiny bit of vanilla extract, I like adding some maple syrup (even sugar-free syrup), whatever makes it sweet enough for you (if not it will taste very pumpkin-like plain). Mash in the scooped apple bits until it's smooth. Fill each of the apples with the mixture and add more cinnamon or spice on top. Bake again for a few minutes (don't go too long, just get it all hot).  Then top with some whipped cream if you want, or granola for that pie crust taste.

It makes a really good holiday dessert that is healthy and low fat. Try all different varieties. Maybe add oats, crumbs, try different types of squash, whatever, just have fun. Enjoy!!

i finally tried this and it was so good. i was sad when it was gone.

I don't have a microwave either lol but yeah, you can bake it in the oven as well, will come out just as good, better in my opinion (hence the reason I don't own a microwave lol)

I like them with granola, cinnamon and fat free whipped cream, nice treat!

for cutting up into chunks and microwaving with cinnamon, do you remove the skins?

I love to microwave apple slices until theyre translucent and sticky. So good! I also like to microwave banana slices. Cooked berries are great too. Cooked fruit is like a whole different food!
