Has anyone ever tried the weight loss supplement Acai Berry? If so, does it actually work?
Reason: moved from the Lounge to Weight Loss forum
The only thing that works is diet and exercise.
Be very careful ordering that item on the internet. I took one of their trial offers and didn't receive the item for about ten days, then read the small print that they would charge me 90 plus dollars for the next month if I didn't cancel. When I tried to cancel, I had to hold the phone for 45 mins to get a live person. I was most happy I had used a virtual credit card number that would not work again for them.
By the way, it tasted like a sweet tart to me!

Did they work? I ordered the free trial offer and never received it. I used a visa gift card with a limit of 50.00. I was charged 12.95 for the trial offer. I ordered three weeks before Thanksgiving.
Not for me. I believe it is a ripoff. The one I used was 3.95 which was totally wasted. I hope you don't get charged again. Isn't it weird how we try these things. We went out to dinner recently at a friend's home. I told my Acai berry story and the husband got this sparkly in his eyes. When I finished he said "okay Gerry tell your story". She did the same thing and did get charged $99 but refused to accept the package. More to come.
The ironic thing is both Gerry and I are RNs, my husband is an MD, her husband is a pharmacist! Think we should know better? WE CERTAINLY SHOULD!
I TRIED IT, DIDNT GET OVER CHARGER OR ANYTHING..BUT THEY DID GIVE ME A HEADACHE ..I NOTICED LESS BLOATING THOUGH. THE ONLY WAY WE R GONNA LOSE WEIGHT..I BELIEVE..I HARD WORK:(UGHH ITS SO EASY TO GAIN AND 3 TIMES AS HARD TO LOSE.
im not sure, havent tried it but have considered. i would think just acai berries in general would be just as good if not better having nothing added to them like a bottlled item would. i bet you could find them at a health store, or ask someone at a healthstore, or a specialist in alternative medicine. ideally im sure they would say dont bother... but thats just a guess from what ive read into stuff like that.
Now I feel like an idiot! I just ordered the not-so-free sample of the "Acaiburn" supplement.
I read all sorts of wonderful reviews online, but they were all flooded with advertisements and links to other Acai Berry products.
I logged on to see if the reviews were true AFTER I placed my order.
Luckily I used a Visa gift card if they try to pull anything...
They promised not to bill me until two weeks after the date of delivery so I can review it and see if it was worth the $4.95 shipping.
Thank you guys for your posts.

No offense, but seriously, when are people ever going to learn there is no such thing as miracle foods. It's like Jewels said, diet and exercise works. It's not romantic, it's not easy, it's not always fun, but it's really the only thing that works in the long run.
johnnypenso's comment is too true for comfort. but once in while something comes along and even the experienced person feels tempted. One day there will be a medical answer that is acceptable and for some people unable to lose that will be a wonderful day.............and there are a few who find it extremely difficult to lose.
Fortunately for me I have never been a mystery weight gainer or loser..................eat less, exercise I lose..........eat more , don't exercise........I gain. No excuses, no rocket science needed.
Read the article plus comments here for more info. Not only does it not work, but it's a giant scam that some people are having to cancel their credit cards & change bank accounts to get out of.

Thanks for a definitive reference. We can all talk but the facts speak for themselves!
I got a bottle of AcaiBlast from General Nutrition Center (GNC) in the mall (60 capsules $15). I've been taking one capsule when I first get up for about 2 weeks now. My waist measurement has decreased much faster than any exercise or dieting would account for. I cut down on calorie intake about 2 months ago. So I'm seeing some positive value. This product contains both Acai berry extract and green tea extract. Weight is not dropping off, but I'm pleased with the boost. In two weeks, I've lost 5 pounds instead of my usual 2. We'll see if it continues.
4 more weeks and 3 pounds -- so no great weight loss. I've been counting calories and that accounts for the weight loss. I'll take 2 capsules a day until they're gone. I haven't noticed a boost in energy or changes to skin either. Just my experiences...
I actually just ordered some online. My mother is the one who told me about it. It from natures way and its capsules. She spoke with someone at our natural food store and some supplements work and some don't. I guess it depends on how much actual acai berry is in it. But anyhow, the one she is taking isn't any type of an alternative for exercise and eating well (nothing should be) but she said that she does have tons of energy and less of an appetite. So, with that being said, I think its worth a shot!
Ok...here is my thoughts about Acia Berry. I have been taking them for a little over a month now. They are an ok when it comes to curving your cravings and giving your energy but they do not make you losse weight like they have said. They do help but the only way to acually lose the weight is to diet and exercise. I will continue to take mine along with a diet, going to curves and walking 4 miles a day. Doing this i have lost 20 pounds in 3 months. I also like to add if you do try them do not order them from the free trial websites! I order my online from a vitamin websit. I have also see them at wal-mart. They should only cost you about $10.
Over-hyped and underperforming + most internet vendors are RIP OFFS!!!!!
DON'T DO IT!!!!!!!
I lost $80 and had to cancel my credit card because the THIEVES at Vital Acai have no way of cancelling your auto-ship (what a scam!) account.
Concur with all above who say there are no miracle products. Calorie count is the proven, trusted way to lose weight and increase health and fitness.
I have always been a health conscious person in terms of the food I put in my body (obviously not so conscious of the amounts I intake... :) ) but I started drinking acai berry juice about 6 months ago because of the health benefits. The juice is very rich in antioxidents and omega-3's, among other good essentials. The ACTUAL juice (not a weightloss supplement) runs about 20-30 dollars at the health food store. I add two tablespoons to my water bottle every morning, and drink it with my breakfast. I noticed two things within a week: it works as an appetite suppressant, and I slept MUCH better at night. I don't know if acai juice has actually aided in weight loss, but my appetite has been decreased, which was a bonus. I will say that there are a TON of products that contain acai that have other stuff in them that are scary, but the organic berry and its juice are in no way harmful. I buy mine at the vitamin shoppe for $24 (32oz bottle). A serving is only 2 tablespoons, so this lasts forever. Hope this helps.
