I bought some Acai Berry pills at the store to try them. My aunt takes them and says that they "make her feel energetic". I have hypothyroid and she doesnt so I decided to try them anyway. today is my first day actually taking them. i have to take 2 pills once a day with food. has anybody else taken these and what did you think of them? thanks.

I haven't taken them and I won't take them.

The only thing diet pills make lighter is your wallet.

Just be glad that you didn't buy them online - most are scams that will continue to charge your credit card, and you'd have to jump through hoops of fire to get them to stop.

I tried them as part of one those colon cleansing kits.  *sigh* Yeah its pretty much a lighten the wallet thing.  Though it did give me terrible stomach aches no matter what way I tried taking them (with food/ without food/ lots of water etc).  I don't have a particularly fussy stomach so it was easy for me to connect the dots with them.  But I understand I'm one of a few that apparently doesn't agree with them.

LOL

It's funny because it's true.

Oh sweetie, I wish you had asked that question before buying those things.  I don't think they'll hurt you, but they aren't exactly going to help you lose weight either.  Those acai berry ads are the most aggressive and misleading things I've seen in a long time.  It's sort of surprising the FDA or some regulatory body hasn't made them back off their over-the-top claims.

I definitely should have known better, but, yes, I tried them.  Did absolutely nothing for me.

I don't understand, Acai Berry are a fruit why take them as a pill?  Would you take a banana pill if you could get one rather than just eating a banana?  The berries are good for you the same way that Blueberries or Pomegranates or any other fruit is good for you but eat them, don't take them as a pill.

I'm curious... where do you usually see Acai Berries (at farmers markets?), when are they usually in season?  I've never ever seen them. I buy Sambazon juice, but it's so expensive, so I only get it once in a blue moon.  delicious though :D

I must admit to taking them regularly. Though I was really only hoping for them to help me as a general tonic - I have a weak digestive system (no gall bladder, irky liver), and so don't always absorb nutrients as well as would be ideal...  I have felt that they have helped as a general tonic, and therefore as part of my weight loss efforts - but their value is really if you think that you may need the nutrients that they are high in. They certainly won't hurt you so see if you find any improvement, if you don't - don't buy them again....

BTW, you won't see them fresh in supermarkets as they don't travel well, and as far as I know have not been established as a crop outside of where they are found naturally

Thanks.. I had a feeling that was the case.

Im guessing that it varies person to person judging on the previous replys. I tried them with the colon cleanse. I lost a stone and barely changed my diet where I was happy. YAY I lost the weight but I put it back on. : ( . I tried the juice  and it was lovely but expensive. I found some of the juice at a market cheaply. Because you have already bought them its really up to you if you want use them but because as soon as I stopped them I put the weight back on I wouldn't recomend any more, good luck x
