what have you accomplished with your healthier lifestyle?
Some of things I'm proud about are:
- I haven't had fries since July 2007; no fried foods for 2 months
- I haven't had soda since Summer 2007.
-I can run 4 miles in 40 minutes.
What are some of the great things you've accomplished and would like to share?
Reason: 3/3/08: Stickied. 3/17/08: Unstickied
No meat in 2 months.
I have lost 9 lbs since last August. I would like it be more, but I slacked off on exercise from December until now... however this week I started a women's boot camp to "force" me back into an hour of exercise each morning!!
I cut sugary drinks completely out of my diet.
I try to eat more sugar free stuff now, everything possible is Fat Free, Light, or Reduced Fat that I buy and/or cook.
I have been working out 4-6 days a week for the past two months straight without slacking. I have been working out regularly since November 2007.
I have lost 22lbs since December 1st 2007.
Just yesterday my boyfriend said, "Wow, I can really tell you have lost some weight. Good job."
P.S. I think he's lost a little weight to since I started "My Diet". :)
I can walk around the block and not have to call my boyfriend half way through and have him come pick me up. (that was beyond embarrassing) now i can walk around 3 or 4 times. :-)
I'm proud of the fact that i'm no longer on a diet. I have figured out how to make a lifestyle change that works for me.
I am proud of the fact I can go out to eat with friends and no matter how bad i want that pizza or cheeseburgers and fries i am strong enough not too.
I'm proud of the fact that I know what I want and nothing and no one will get in my way. I will succeed.
These are the most beautiful and inspiring things I have read in a long time. Good job to all of you.
I have lost 36lbs since July, 2007. I can:
Beat my son in a race up the block (sprinting has always been my strong suit) and he is 17.
Run 3 miles - I always thought distance running was out of my league.
Taste something without having to gorge on it. I can have a bite of cake, or a piece of a cookie, or a sip of something, and not have it send me over the edge... I love control.
I can for the first time ever, do push ups. I never had the upper body strength necessary -- even when I only weighed 115lbs!!!
I can see my goal in sight. I only have 13 pounds left to lose!!!
I am the most fit and active I have been since I was a kid.
I have gotten rid of my panic attacks and my anxiety and depression has decreased.
I am in control of my diabetes and hypothyroidism more.
I had never done any formal exercise, ever. The thought of going to a gym horrified me. I had no idea how to work any of the machines and couldn't imagine exercising in front of a bunch of strangers.
I joined a fitness center at a local hospital last month after a heart stress test. I have been going 3 times a week for a month. My depression is lifting and I feel so much better all around.
I can now stand to do a huge sink load of dishes without having to sit down after washing 3 glasses.
I can ride my bike 40 minutes and still walk.
I can roll over in bed and not dislocate something in my lower back
I can go to the market if I feel really good that day and manage to get everything on my list.
I don't have swollen feet, ankles and calves any more after about a year of nothing but being swollen.
ive only changed my eating habits drastically and cut back on calories & began exercising since Jan 3 2008.
also I don't have to take my anxiety medication anymore because I don't feel anxious OR depressed
Everytime I went to the doctor since I hit puberty, I would have gained anywhere from five to ten pounds in that year. My highest was 151 about two years ago. I'm only 5'2 and nineteen years old (seventeen then).
Everytime I got on the scale and saw the number I would start crying. Then on the way home I would swear that I would do something about it--that I would exercise, that I would start eating well, that I would get it under control.
In September I finally decided I was sick of being heavy. Now I'm 134 and still losing, and besides that, I'm in the best shape of, if not my life, at least my teenage years. I could never jog/run long distances, now I can run on the treadmill for thirty-five to forty minutes straight.
And the next time I go to the doctor's (probably in a couple of months in order to get my physical for studying abroad), I'm not going to cry and say that I'll do something about it. Instead I can say I finally did something about it. :-)
that's great !!! you should be so proud. i am also 5' 2" and i weigh 146.....i'm 46. i've tried everything.
i will try starting the treadmill again and walk at 30 mph for 20 minutes.
i am now writing down my calories and trying to stay near 1200 per day.
i, too, am sick of being heavy..........this time i'm really going to give it my all !!!
any good low calorie snack ideas for evenings ???
Caryn
For the past two months the flu and various colds have swept the office and all day I hear coughing, sneezing, and sniffling all around me. I haven't gotten sick once.
I haven't felt famished/super hungry in forever.
I've dropped 10 pant/jean sizes.
I'm no longer so tired during the day I'm falling asleep at noon.
They're doing a wonderful job supporting me too! Best idea ever. :-)
I have been a vegetarian since May 1, 200.
I have not had a single soda since Dec 31, 2007
I have lost 11 lbs and kept them off.
I havent binged even one day since I started eating healthy.
I drink at least 10 glasses of water everyday since Dec 31, 2008.
I feel energised after 1 hr of work out in the gym and love walking back home after it.
I feel i am now the healthist I have ever been in my life.
I've been a healthy weight for just over 3 years
I genuinely prefer to eat healthily... I don't just see it as a means to an end
I'm setting a better example to my young son and I'm happy that he'll grow up to be a lover of a healthy lifestyle
i love being able to walk AND still breathe LOL this is soooo awesome!!! i don't know what more to say... i think that right there is awesome :D there's a million things i could say, but that pretty much tops the cake... ummm... should i say cake?! LOL
don't even think about it!!! get away from that cake!!! damn it!!! seriously, i mean YOU!!! :D back off...
it's ALL worth it in the long run

I could never do pushups either. My arms would just buckle under my weight.. I noticed yesterday I could do quite a few before struggling.. and it feels great!
In addition, I realized the other day that I have a visible collar bone. It may not seem like a big deal, but I've always wanted to wear a tank and look sexy in it. Now I can!
Also, I am proud of the fact that I haven't eaten "fast food" in over 2 months. Pizza is my weakness and my boyfriend always gets free coupons from work, but I haven't given in once!
I joined a gym in July 2006. I changed my diet in March 2007.
My blood pressure was 145/90 the first time I tested it. Within six months it was down to normal, and is now at 112/70.
When I first joined a gym, I struggled to go fast enough on the elliptical machine (on the lowest level!) to prevent it from saying I had paused and needed to resume exercise. I can go for an hour now, HIIT style.
The first time I jogged a 1/10 mile lap, my blood was pounding so hard in my temples that I got a headache and felt light-headed. I could barely finish it. Now I can jog a mile and I’m working at increasing my speed.
I’ve lost 45 pounds slowly, with setbacks and plateaus. Excruciatingly slowly. I never thought it would take so long. 35 more to go.
I went from a size 18 or 20, to a size 12. Goal is size 8.
i quit smoking (and i wasn't even trying)
i can't remember the last time that i've had soda or any sugary drink for that matter
my "candy" is fruit
i can walk up 6 flights of stairs like it was 1 flight (looking forward to walking 10 flights like they were 2 flights!)
i now welcome water and no longer dread it
