How come in 'My Account' Goals and Options, there's no
option for 'Weight Gain' instead of simply 'Weight Loss' and 'Weight Maintenance'??
There's stuff all over this site about people trying to gain weight, and I don't get why they haven't implemented such an option for us to use. It would really be nice if I could change my goal from 'maintaining weight at 123lbs'.
well since you can't...do you have any questions that we might be able to help you answer? :)
Well, not necessarily, I think I've pretty much figured it out, but you can go ahead and critique me all you want :)
My goal is to get to 150 by Sep. 25. So I did the math, my BMR is at 1604, so to maintain my current weight I need 2,237 calories daily, and since one pound of body weight is equivalent to 3500 calories, if I eat an extra 750 (3077 dailyl) calories a day I should pack on an extra 1.5lbs a week giving me 27lbs by then.
I don't eat much, and often don't have the food at hand to eat 'healthy', so I'm trying to drink 2 protein/creatine weight gain shakes a day. Was thinking about Nitro Juice 3000, or Creatine Mass 10,000, on top of 3-4 meals a day around 4-500 calories each, if not more.
The shakes will give me roughly 900-1000 calories each, so lets just say 2,000 right there, then another 2,000 from meals (granted I will probably miss a few and slack off a little bit, simply because that's my nature) and that should give me around 3500 calories a day. My goal is 3200 a day.
I'm going to be working out, too, so hopefully all of this combined will add some lean muscle on me and I should be well on my way to 150 in no time!
I'm also starting to take Xymogen Activ Essentials vitamins every day, btw.
Thanks for your tips/comments, guys, feel free on anything!
Also right now I hardly eat **** and my sleep pattern is totally out of whack, so once I get those things on track I think it should help dramatically.
For instance, I went to bed at 6am this morning and woke up at 6pm today, all I've had to eat are 3 enchiladas and a thing of yogurt plus my vitamins. 1161 cals, and according to my burn meter I've already burned 2123 lol

look at the gaining forum there are many ideas for food. no need to supplement your diet with 2000 calories from shakes.
eat 4 tbsp of peanut butter with a banana and 2 slices of whole wheat toast, for a total of 700 calories, add a glass of milk and you're well over 800. it's portable and easy.
as a snack have 2 ounces nuts and a full fat yogurt, at least 500 calories.
as another snack have 2 ounces cheese, and 2 servings whole wheat crackers--that's another 500 calories [no bulk and portable]
for dinner have 2 tbsp olive oil over grilled vegetables, 2 oz pasta [dry], and 4 oz lean meat/protein---that's another 700 calories at least
for breakfast have 1 serving oatmeal [150 cals] made with 1 cup milk [140 cals for 2%] and 2 oz nuts mixed in [400 calories] that's 700 calories, add a fruit and a cup of juice for another 250 and you're at 950 for breakfast
that would meet your goals and bring you to around 3500 calories for minimal bulk and maximum portability. you can buy a huge container of nuts or trail mix, bananas, peanut butter, bread, pasta, and olive oil are really cheap and last a while. crackers, cheese, milk, etc. are also reasonably priced. so, i hope this helps !! maybe only 1 shake per day and a protein bar or something. that would be much more balanced :)
hmmm, not bad ideas :] thank you
In all reality, though, I most likely wouldn't end up taking that much time to dedicate to food and what I actually eat. I know, I should, since I seem so 'dedicated' and all, but I just don't see me doing it, which is why I think these shakes are the way to go for me.
Those are very good ideas though, actually, and I will probably take a few and use them. Especially the first one and breakfast... I never eat breakfast. Thank you.
Plus, even so, what do you think if I actually did eat all of that, plus the 2 shakes I was talking about. Couldn't hurt could it?
Simply because I honestly don't care what weight I gain or how I gain it as long as I do, 123lbs at 5'11/6ft is just unacceptable.
I'm a guy, btw, if you didn't know.
no couldn't hurt to eat all of that and add the shakes, i figured you were a guy with a goal weight of 150. it really wouldn't take that much time either, take a couple wedges of cheese off of a huge brick, dump some crackers in a ziploc, grab a handful of trail mix put that in a ziploc and you're good to go. almost as fast as taking protein powder on the go really. :)
Unfortunately weight gain does take effort and dedication. And eating. Make a plan and stick to it even if you don't feel hungry. Make use of high cal portable foods like nuts, dried fruit and granola bars for example.
CC is not designed for weight gainers. But your usual, active male burns about 2500 calories a day. Add 500 to this, and there you go.
Don't drink shakes to replace food. What you said about drinking shakes on top of food would be fine but try to make 3000 or so in food. And again this is doable; I linked you a meal plan idea before, in your other post.
Following a regular meal plan is so much easier when you have a disciplined sleeping pattern as well, please do try to work on that area. I promise you it makes a world of a difference, and this is coming from a person who used to sleep from 4-5 AM to 2-3 PM and eat lunch for breakfast 8-9 months ago. Now I get sleepy around 10-11 PM and am up on my feet at 7-8 AM. It sucks at first, but you get used to it just like you got used to the messed up schedule in the first place. :)
You could kind of put CC into "weight gain" mode by selecting "weight loss" as your setting and set your goal weight higher than your current one. Then, select your starting date and goal date. After that you can create yourself a visual weight gaining mark by editing your profile, and selecting "get a ticker" (which was originally meant to be used as a weight loss visual marker). The ticker will show up on your profile and allow you to see your start date, end date, and your current position.
Apart from being able to use the ticker, it doesn't make a huge difference, but I found the visual of the ticker a great source of motivation.
