oh, and, checking in with....myself so far...lol...

I did buy the pilates vid, and have done it twice. Ow.
Hi all!

I saw your post over in fitness and almost joined there ( :

Mine are more of "forever" goals vs. weekly, but I found I did much better myself if I challenged other people in my walking forum, for example, to walk both days of the weekend (vs what I used to do, i.e. prefer to sit on the couch with my bf!) ( :

I have summers off since I teach, so the exercise portion has been pretty easy to make myself do. I get out first thing in the morning while it is still "nice" and get my walk/jog in, but once I go back to work, here are my goals:

1) Exercise ASAP upon returning home from work. I will either walk with my hand weights at least and hour, wog my butt off for the same,OR walk my neighbor's doggie for as long as he will walk with me. (He's a small dog, so his little legs get tired faster than mine!) I will also try to do some light weight lifting, pushups and ab work in addition to whatever exercise I do besides....

2) Keep eating right and counting calories!!!!!   (This one is the kicker for me. My typical pattern is to eat all day long, everything in sight all summer long, then go back to school and not eat anything all day long---pig out at dinner/all night long, SOOOOOO this year, I will pack snacks and my lunch every day. I will fuel my body appropriately. I will not revert to previous patterns and I will take better care of myself.)

Hope everyone's day so far is great! ( :    --Olivia
Thanks for starting the new post, tania. Scale says I've lost 3 pounds since last Friday...it's the initial weight-loss water weight probably, but it still feels great! Walked Monday and Tuesday--2 miles each day. Welcome, Olivia. Sounds like you have a thorough plan. Packing the snacks and lunch is the key. Great idea.
Thanks, elle!

I have lost weight in the past, only to put it back on plus afew friends every time, so this time is different! ( :  Something finally clicked and made sense.

YAY for good changes.....
Hi hi! I ordered a yoga DVD, but it hasn't come yet (hopefully it will next week), so I guess my goal for this week is to actually count calories on the weekend! And hopefully my DVD and mat will come soon! Keep up the good work guys!
Hi Olivia! I like your goals- when I was a student teacher I had the same problem! I just never had time during the day. The upside was a drank  a LOT of water.

Rob- Welcome! Good luck with the calories, have fun with the yoga!

Elle! Thos first pounds were heavenly, I don't even care if they were water! LOL
Am I the only one who thought I was "eating healthy" before finding cc and actually counting?  Nowadays I have a hard time getting it all in, but man, I bet there were days of 3,000.....    Weekends are still harder for me than the week---the bf loves to eat ( ;   BUT keeping track keeps me honest. Good luck with your weekend goal--you can do it! (If you're really hungry, you can always drag the hubby out for a walk and go ahead and have that sensible treat!)

I'd like to know how the yoga thing goes too.... I think Pilates is more up my alley (maybe if I can ever find a good video online...), but yoga, the little I've ever done it, seemed relaxing. ( :

Pounds count, no matter what kind they are if done right!

tania-- Do you still teach? I looked at your profile earlier and everything, but I must have missed that!
I would love to join.  It is difficult for me to stick to goals that someone else has created, so this will be great.

My goal:

Make it to the gym four days this week including two strength training workouts with abs
My goal: working out either by dvd's or walking, for 30 minutes or more at least  4x this week.

Tania, nice job on doing that pilates DVD! I thought about getting one instead of yoga (and perhaps I will...muahaha) but I thought I'd try yoga. We'll see if I can even move after the first session :P

Olivia, I know what you mean! "Healthy"...hah, yea right! No longer though, religious calorie counting from now on!

Welcome to everyone else, and good luck this week!

I just started calorie counting a couple weeks ago and the weekend has always been hardest.  My goal is to keep track of my weekend calories as well.
Olivia- It's not in my profile, since I don't teach now- Being a teacher in Michigan is really not being a teacher at all- there are absolutely NO jobs. Not just teaching, but in general! After i was done student teaching (which has its own hellish story to go with it), I couldn't get a job anywhere...which is how I started working at the restaurant...and the insurance agency....and....yeah. Now I am once again contemplating school and "what I want to do with my life" sigh.  And yes, I totally found that what I thought was healthy (even though I know better) was a lot of calories!

Fallingstars and Kristicro- I like your goals! Is this for this week or next? How is this week going?

Janellejaneiro (I love your name!)- weekends are super tough for me as well- partly from working at the restaurant, and partly because I have more time to think about food! Last weekend I tried really hard to keep eating smaller meals at closer intervals, and really paying attention to when I was physically hungry, not just bored or in the mood. It worked pretty well! Good luck!
Did my two miles yesterday. Planning on one mile and come hefty house cleaning today. Two flights of stairs in our house so it's a good workout!
elle! good job with the walking- I did some very hefty basement scrubbing this weekend...killed lots of bugs (it is a half basement, half michigan basement which = a lot of bugs). I think Sunday I will paint it.

I did my third set of Pilates yesterday...ow!
glad I am not the only one, robyneg!  I was SHOCKED when I started looking up my old stand by food, fast food faves etc,...... Needless to say, I can no longer even crave that CRAP food. ( :    YAY!    Keeping track of the actual math (and the fact that cc made it so easy for me) is really working!!! down 25 since late May ( ;

Aw, that stinks, tania!  My sister just did the same thing..... She spent well over 100K on chiropractic college only to get out there and find there were no jobs....... AGH -- she got her teaching license and will be teaching biology to 9th graders in TX. I can not WAIT to hear the stores as she is the least patient, most bossy and know-it-all person I know---- and 9th graders can be ruthless...... I never would have dreamed she would follow my footsteps. We'll see....... (I am so evil)

Good job cleaning the basement bug factory! I spent 2 hours the other day cleaning out our spider haven of a garage on the prospect of moving into our first home purchase! After 4 spider bombs, I still screeched and jumped from at least 100 brown recluses who survived the pesticide. SCARY thought..... super spiders....... *skin crawling now*  LOL   Have fun painting! Are you turning it into a room to use downstairs, or just prettifying it? ( :

Excellent on the Pilates, Tania! Know what you mean about the ow!

It is rather shocking how many calories some things have. I looked at a package of fried calamari at the market and it was something like 400 calories for a serving and a serving was only 10 pieces. Who eats only 10 pieces? And that didn't include any sauce! Glad it's not something I've been eating routinely. Keep track and doing the math is the way to go. Down 25 since May, Olivia? That's awesome!!!!

Did my one mile walk yesterday and burned off 4 times the calories housecleaning afterwards! Who knew?  This is my first week and I'm down 4 pounds--too much but I think it's just that honeymoon week thing. Next week I'm sure the honeymoon will be over.
lmao! yeah i lost four the first week- that was so nice.  it was for sure the honeymoon. I lost one this week! Yay me....I think!

Good job with the walking! I have been walking too, and am getting sore spots and blisters, which is fustrating because I want to keep walking but cannot....any advice?

Yeah, I took a break from the Pilates yesterday and today, to let my muscles recover a bit!

Olivia- Ha ha my sister is bossy and a know it all too! hee hee!

Anyone seen Lateatra latley? I was wondering how the healthy meals are going.
I read somewhere that somebody doubled up on socks and that helped them with the blisters...that or thicker socks maybe.

Hello,

I have been doing well with my meals and calorie counting. For next week I am going to incorporate less cardio and more toning. My specific plan for next week is 15-30 m walking M-F, pilates 3x week and 10 m of yoga on Saturday.
woooo! those are some goals! Good luck with that!

I am personally aiming to walk for at least 60 min M-F this week!
