If your working on this with me, post your info here. If you're interested in what this is about look at "4-11 to 5-2 weight loss is harder for us shorter folks"

let's gear up to get the weight off and keep it off.

currently working on updates, so please be understanding.

added only those how said they wanted to be included and updated weights.

Slimming Mini - rules.  for every 15 minutes of workout is 3 points

for every 8 oz of water is 2 points, and every pound lost is 1 point.

weighin at the beginning and end of the month.  so pounds lost points will be added at the end.

post your workouts and water intake everyday or every other day to make it easy to keep track of points.

sweetcarolyn83, hey the treadmill today is a go, 45 minutes. the crunches is for the week and I've only done 20.  rinzy2000, you should have 64 ounces a day or a half a gallon a day.

feeling extra hungry today and had a little sugar, so doing extra workout tonight.

as of this morning I was up a half pound, not sure why.  186.5

coco
weigh youself again tomorrow.  After you pee, before you drink anything.  There are so many thing that contribute to a half a pound.  Plus certain points in your cycle can make you gain as much as 5 pounds of water weight.  How often are you weighing youself.?  I only do it once a week.  I struggle not to do it everyday, but then I only see very small changes and it gets discouraging.  If you just drank a galss of water that could also add a pound.  a 16oz glass of water adds a pound.  Don't get frustrated.  I have your back.  And don't beat yourself up.  I had a BBQ to go to.  I ate a hamburger (after I used a napkin to soak up all the excess grease) and a half a hotdog!  URGH!
Hi all. I have used calorie count in the past but have never been able to stick to it,. I enjoyed reading your post. I am 5 foot and weigh 178. The last time I weighed that I was 9 months pregnant. My dr says I need to get into an excercise program but I can't seeem to get started. To top that off my daughter is getting married sept. 1 and I would love to loose 40 lbs or more by than.Heck any would be great. If You have any suggestions on how I can make myself start walking, exercising .Please post.

Thanks
jigglefreebabe--  I know this may sound extremely weird.  But when I started out 6 weeks and 18 pounds ago I did a few little things that helped me out so maybe they will help you, I mean It's worth a try.  First off, I L-O-V-E junk food, obviously junk food and weight loss don't exactly go hand in hand.  So everytime I wanted those cheese sticks I said in my head "I have control of this, I can make a better choice it's worth it"  And I did.  I started out walking and doing the elliptical.  Walking: I do an hour a day and the whole time I am walking with every step I think about what I want to look like and how good it is going to feel to get reach that goal I think about my friends and families reaction and that pushes me to walk a little faster and puts me in a better mood all day long.  And when I do the elliptical I have a set time that I am going to be on the machine and I stick to it no matter what.  If I have to slow down and catch my breath that it what I do.  Even if I slow down 5 times I still carry through to my time and it feels so good to know that I accomplish that small thing 4-5 times a week.  The last and most important piece of advice I can offer is I don't let myself talk myself out of going to the gym.  If I say I am going to go I go.  When I start making excuses in my head, I get up at that moment and just go.  There is nothing more important and beneficial than working out.  Plus I find after I go I feel so much better about myself it's like "yes I did it, I can keep doing it, I will not stop... ever".

Oh yeah, one last thing, I already said I was a junk food junkie.  So I give myself a free day once a week so I don't feel deprived.  I don't pig out... but, I can have those cheese sticks I love.  But I always work out on my free day.  Good Luck, you can do it!
another small package here.. 5'1 and 230 pounds.  Just to clarify because it's late at night and I'm tired and can't make heads nor tails... What exactly is the challenge here??? is there a challenge??

hey there, dtpatty, you can make a challenge of your own. We have been making personal challenges (just for ourselves) and group challenges each day. also we've been writing down weekly challenges. I'm looking for today's challenge if any one would like to through one out there.  Did my 45 mins last night on the TM and 20 more crunches. (lucky for me I just have to sit today.) with all those crunches I'm having a sore moment here. 100 crunches by week's end is going to be hard, the more sore I get the harder it is to do any.  BTW weighed this morning 185. down 1 pound since last thursday. and I'll take  it.

thanks to all that are inspiring me to stay with it. I love my new friends, if I knew you, I'd take you all out for a diet coke.

coco
I did 45 minutes on the elliptical today.  I also did 50 minutes of walking and I started weight training.  I don't think I am eating enough though.  I am going to try a little harder tomorrow.
Hey there!

I'm 5'2" and currently 141 lbs. Am trying to get to somewhere between 120 and 125.....dunno yet. We'll see if I can even get down to 130 before worrying about the 120s!!!

I'm hoping to get to the gym tonight after work. Since I only did an hour on the elliptical yesterday, I'm hoping to get in a better workout today. Goals are to run 3.1 miles (5K), resistance training on upper body (shoulders, biceps and triceps) and a 45 minute cool down on the elliptical trainer.

I will NOT stress out about the scale today. Normally, I weigh myself before every workout. I usually workout at lunch - before I've eaten. I generally find that when I do evening workouts and weigh myself, my weight is a little higher since I have breakfast, lunch and snacks in my gut. It's hard not to get discouraged when the scale refuses to play nicely!! I try and weigh at the same time each day (or few days - I only weigh when I'm at the gym because I don't trust my digital scale at home) - so I will not freak out when I weigh today and find that I'm up a few pounds. At least, that's what I'm telling myself now so that I won't have a meltdown later!!
oooh - and while we're on the subject of crunches, I have a really good routine that I use and it's helped strengthen my core.

10 regular crunches followed by 10 side to side (you basically cruch up and lift your legs off the ground. while hovering in that position, twist your torso from side to side - one time to the left and one time to the right counts as a single rep) followed by 10 lower ab leg raises (you lie flat - I usually put my hands under my butt, and lift your legs to about a 45 degree angle from the floor, then lower until they are just above the floor). Do the 3 exercises together, without stopping in between. That counts as one set.

It's killer - but it works!! Plus, you end up getting 30 reps total for each set you do, but it doesn't feel like it since you are using a combination of different ab groups for each exercise. I usually do 3 sets.
ah got ya..thanks for clarifying!!! ... okay so some personal challenges.. Okay I am trying to consume 96 ounces of water a day!! (yeah I know way beyond the recommended 64)  I also am trying to get in a 30 minutes activity every day.. This one is posing a bit of a problem right now.

I used to be heavy into the gym and now that I've had to be away for 3 months, I've lost it..
yo,

just did 100 crunches (on the floor of my room...ouch!  the wood hurts, lol)

did the treadmill today for a mile!
Nice to see some other short girls on here 'cus I need people to relate with!

I'm 5'2"/157cm and weigh 132pounds/60kg at the moment. My goal is 110pounds/50kg and I just joined here yesterday... I'm set up with 1200 cals.

My husband is trying to lose weight aswell as we want to have a baby in the near future and want to get a healthly kick start on things! In fact he is at the gym right now! So I better get off here and working out myself!

Love the shorties :D I'm 5'2" and just on 51.5kg, trying to get back down to 49kg and a gorgeous pair of jeans I bought last boxing day that no longer do up!
Age:17
Height:4'11.5"
Starting Weight:191
Weight now:187
Goal Weight:125

I dance for about 60-90 minutes each night after I have eaten for the day. Just before I go to bed, so that I know I have worked off quite a bit of the calories that I have eaten that day. I eat up 1000 calories a day, so at the end of the day when I dance I end up working most of it off. And I dance like crazy where I tire myself out completely with only 2 5minute breaks. Plus I take anti-psychotic meds and they give me lots of energy to burn off, and seem to help in the weight loss area. So by the end of this week I should have lost from 2-5 pounds. Now just to kep this up for like anther year to reach my goal weight.
5"2

HW - 154
LW - 132
CW - Too scared to get on the scales :]
GW - 100

I want to lose weight not for my health, but for purely how I look. I guess that's the reason most teenagers diet though :]
Height: 5' 1''

Current Weight: 118

Goal Weight: I HAVE NO IDEA!!! I have been wondering for so long what I should weigh. I think I look fat but the thing is the lowest I've ever gotten is 112 (for 1 day) and that was when I was working out 6 times a week and eating really well most all the time. so i don't know.

Hello ladies, I am in need of some motavation today. Tired, run down and depressed. I do tend to not workout when I haven't  had enough sleep.  I need to finish up my crunches for this week's challenge and looking for a cardio challenge. Anyone got one?
