Guys,
I'm a fairly regular drinker, consuming on average 1-2 glasses of wine/beers a night.
How should I go about accounting for this in my caloric intake? I've always (in the past) kept it separate...because it wasn't food it felt different. However, I'm not sure this is the right approach.
How do those of you who drink regularly account for the intake?

It's calories.... log it!

Every beer is different, and the same brand in ndifferent bars will have different cal content.
Look on the net and you will get many answers to one brand.
I go with 200 cals for each pint I drink. whether john smiths or guiness.

I definitely log it. It creates a section on the pie chart for alcohol. So you know any booze you consume becomes part of your grade for the day and affects your percentages of fats and carbs and protein. Plus, it's funny to go back after a month and see how much alcohol you REALLY drink! Mine was a shocking 13% of my entire diet for the Holiday season!

i caught myself actually reducing the amount of food i ate to remain at my goal of 1300. on a night when i go out with friends it is not abnormal for us to drink 5 or 6 drinks over the course of the night....that is at least 800 calories right there!
when i noticed that i was actually drinking more calories than i was eating, i stopped counting them in my daily totals, only because i knew that over the holidays especially (old friends, lots of parties, no school or work) there was no way i could avoid the drinking traditions, and i'd rather ingest too many calories than become malnourished because of my bad habits. However, since it is a new year, i plan on strictly watching the calories of my alcohol intake......with the explicit intention that i will dramatically reduce my alcohol consumption (hopefully to zero)
Good luck, and just know that consuming any alcohol (even if you are in your calorie range) seems to make me and several of my girlfriends completely unable to lose anything....

Definitely count it. I found that switching to a diet rum and coke at 64 calories versus a beer at 150 calories was a big difference and saved a lot of calories. I've pretty much given up beer because of the high calories.
Alchohol has 7 calories per gram. Log it.

Alcohol has 7 calories per gram, true. Alcoholic beverages contain calories, true. However: not all alcoholic beverages are high calorie!
Check it out:
Red wine, one glass = 75 kcal / 3.5 fl oz
Beer, one bottle = 117 kcal / 12 fl oz
Stout (Guinness), one pint = 170 kcal / 16 fl oz
Spirits, 90 proof = 110 kcal / 1 jigger (42g)
One to two glasses of wine (150 kcal) or the same of beer (250 kcal), if counted won't seriously hinder you from eating a healthy amount of food and still losing weight. Logging those calories will help you have an accurate picture of your diet, though. :)
