How accurate are the tools on this site?

I'm a 47 yo female, 5' 2", 213.5 pounds and basically sedentary. On my home page, the burn meter says I burn 1960 calories per day. My understanding is that this INCLUDES my daily activities, such as walking to the car, from the car to the office, standing while cooking, etc. I have been keeping my daily calorie intake between 500 and 750 calories less than that figure. (And I will NEVER go more than a handful of calories below 1200!)

Looking through some of the forums, however, I see BMR calculations that say that ~2000 calories is what I burn doing ABSOLUTELY nothing, and that my basically sedentary lifestyle adds another ~400 calories to that. On that basis, I am actually doing myself a disservice by eating so few calories because I am almost always in a more than 1000 calorie deficit each day.

I love the site, but I want to make sure I'm doing this in a healthy, sustainable manner. Any insight would be appreciated!

Any tool/guideline etc is at best an educated guess. We vary. You may need more/less then average. You may be more fit then average.

The formulas don't work for me. They are below what I need. Does that mean the formulas are wrong? No it just means I'm not the "average"

I know it's not much help but basically just use the formulas for a guideline then adjust to fit yourself.

PM'd you.  You had it right, btw

I recently started using Burn Meter, and am not sure about the accuracy of the burn meter.

I just put 10 hr of sleep, 10 hr of sitting (talking) and 4 hr of walking 2.5 mph and it showed me more than 2000 cals that i burned for it ...could it but correct ??

Does it take age, weight gender into account ? or is it only constant values without keeping any of my details in account ??

I found out, it is approximately correct.

There is this website I always go to and they have very high credibility, they also had similar results please try if you wish to.
