Official Rules

  1. Keep yourself healthy by not losing excess amounts of weight per week; a healthy weightloss goal is 1.5lbs per week. Anything you lose over this amount will not be credited with points.
  2. Weight loss is only taken into account from the time you enter the challenge. Overall weight loss is acknowledged but not attributed points.
  3. You and your team gather 5 points for every half pound you lose and if you maintain your weight (+ or - 0.4lbs from your last weight) you and your team will gain 2 points.
  4. You and your team will win 1 point for every half hour of exercise you do per week. Your team will also win an extra 10 points if you are the person who's worked out the most in the week. (Don't die)
  5. Weigh-ins and official reportings of your time spent working out are due here every Friday. The Week's Awards will be announced Sunday night, so please report before that!
  6. Have fun and get/stay healthy!!

Ok so I've added some more things to the original post. I changed the stats a bit from what Amanda had. My reasoning was that it often got confusing when the weight loss was a different number from the starting weight - current weight. That's why I thought of adding the Lowest weight, in order for that total weight loss to make a bit more sense (since we didnt go back to change it when people gained weight).

However, I realize in an attempt to make it simpler, I probably made the whole thing more complicated.

I would appreciate people's input about which stats they care to have on that main post. Or an easier way to write down the stats than the one I've picked. I tend to make things more complicated than they should be... haha

I'm not really sure how the points are working, especially for the exercise. Do we just update our posts every day?
The way we did it was that every Friday people would post their current weight and the sum of exercise hours they had for the previous week. So for example, this following Friday you would post your weight and the exercise for last Fri-Sat-Sun-Mon-Tue-Wed-Thu or Sat-Fri depending on whether you decide to post Friday mornings or nights.

Every week you get points for weight loss (5pts for every .5lb up to 1.5lbs), weight maintenance (5pts if you maintain), and exercise (1pt for every hour of exercise).

Also, we started the weight loss from when people join the challenge, and not what they had already lost in the past. So for example, it only started counting for me from 124 while my actual starting weight was 132.
I wouldn't mind starting from scratch so that people who are new to the thread have a chance to "win". It also might encourage new people to join.

But I don't really care either way.

I thought about that as well. It seems more fair and welcoming to new comers. I wasn't sure if then that would have the opposite effect on current members, and decrease their motivation in continuing the challenge, since they would lose all the points for their previous efforts.

I don't know. It's a topic up on the table.
Also, I always thought that there is a huge difference between points awarded to weight loss vs points awarded to exercise. Perhaps instead of 1pt for every hour, it could be for every half hour or even quarter hour.

We're still missing a lot of people. I hope they show up for the weigh in. As of now we're only 6 =(

Chelsaw, like I said before, we used to take people's current weight instead of their overall starting weight, in order to only count the weight loss during the challenge. We are considering just restarting everyone's scores, so we may all end up like that.

We'll definately get things in order by Friday, which is the first update day!

We're just waiting for more people to check in, to see who will continue on.

I want in too!  I'm currently at 224.0 lb.

I normally weigh every day, but only look at my trendline in order to account for water fluctuations.  Do you want my actual Friday scale weight or do you want my trend weight on Friday?
I think most people have dropped out. We might as well just make new times and cut people out. If they come back, we can always re-add them.
Okay, so I have cleared up the teams from the people who have not posted in a while.

I tried to keep each team's average weight about the same (as we did before), while trying not to move people around (sorry Mandi, I moved you to a different team; I hope it's ok), nor placing all the new members alone in a team. I figured it would be better to have new and "old" people in each team.

I also reset all the points. As of the moment, one of the teams has 4 members while the others have 3, but hopefully more people will join. =)


Hey guys!!! Its ok that you moved me ;) We are starting over anyway! Well My starting weight isnt 197 ahhhhhhh its 200.  Guys I dont know what my body is doing but it definitely is not behaving. It probably doesnt help that I had my period this week and ate chocolate hehhe

Ok I'm going to change the weight now. I got the 197 from last Friday's weigh-in. In fact, that is what I did everyone, for whom I had that number.
