Im interested in buying Activa yogurt however I dont want to spend the extra money if it doesnt work. Is there anyone who has tried the yogurt and seen the results?
The yogurt is yummy, but yo-plus works better for about the same price. At least it did for me :)
Yeah, I second the Yoplait Plus. I haven't tried Activia, because of reading so many stories about terrible stomach cramps while eating it (not that that's going to be everyone, of course) but also mainly because I'm just not a fan of Dannon yogurts in general. I love the Yoplait Plus. When I read the label to see that it contained no HCFS and NO artificial sweeteners, I scooped it up. It tastes great, is sweet, thick, and creamy, and yes, I'm noticing very good results, quickly. That's after cold-turkey stopping daily 1 to 2 doses of Fibersure and a large daily dose of stool softener (taken long-term just so I could "go"), which I had to stop because I was losing potassium and iron in a major way. All this said to say, if it helps me go, it's bound to be able to help most anybody! I think the Yoplait is also a few cents cheaper, at least here anyway, too.
Yea I will have to try out the Yoplait because I had bought that Dannon yogurt and i went to the bathroom quickly after. I wasn't sure if it was from the yogurt but after reading that you said you had heard people who had experienced cramping after eating it. I look forward to trying Yoplait Plus
jdbcmt look into Kefir- it may work better.
try http://users.sa.chariot.net.au/~dna/kefirpage .html
I've been using Liberty brand's plain kefir as a starter culture .works very well and is easy to make. My husband who has a lifelong problem with a"sensitive" stomach, finds it very helpful to have about a cup every day. It is "sweetened" with banana and vanilla in a blender and he adds a tablespoon or more of wheat bran to make it "healthier".
Activa yogurt, the probiotic yogurt, work out to be more expensive compared to the homemade kefir. Also they may not work as been "healthier" since its easier to control the "sharpness" of the kefir with less sugar. (I've found sharpness of homemade yogurt require more"sugar") The sweetness of the banana or other fruit is sufficient for my husband.
i LOVE Activia... it works wonders, i think you should try it for 2 or 3 days.. c for yourself
nsgardener: Thank you much for the info! I'll definitely look into that!
I've been eating it almost daily since it came out and have never had a problem. They even make a fat free now. Ralph's always has it on sale and my Wal Mart even sells it - 4 pack for $2.00. Peach and Prune (yes prune) are my favs.......I like it because the serving is not too big. Good snack and it works.
My grandmother swears by Activia. It's the only thing that's ever worked for her.
We eat it and have never had any problem at all. Hubby has a digestion problem and it has worked wonders for him.
I have tried the Activia yogurt, and I enjoyed it very much. Nice flavors too!
It is a bit expensive though. I found that the expiration dates on them
did not last too long however. You really do have to eat them everyday in order
that they remain fresh. But, overall, I would give them a thumbs up for flavor
and that they work also...several benefits I believe in choosing this product.
For myself, I have to watch the sugars I consume because of diabetes also, so
I don't buy them as often anymore.
good luck, ladibugcrazi
I have been experience same stomach cramping. Bloating and just icky lower GI problem after eating Activa. I have discontinued eating and pain has gone away.
Going back yo Yoplait yogurt
I never really understood the Activia craze... doesn't ALL yogurt have good bacteria & cultures in it? It's always semed like such a marketing ploy [& a good one, at that]
