Activity Change: Am I lightly active?

Quote  |  Reply

So I was doing the New Rules of Lifting for Women program 2xs a week + 1 day of a sport (volleyball or baseball) from Jan- July.

I had some holidays and it was summer so I gave myself some time off.

Went to the Dr. on July 14th and had lost 7 lbs! Down to 137 from 145. I went to Ottawa August 15 and was still around 137-138. I do NOT weigh myself and dont own a scale- I dont care about the number, as long as I feel good and fit in my clothes.

I want to maintain now, and since summer is coming to a close (early here in Ontario it seems) I am becoming more active again.

Just started kickboxing, which will be each Tues and Thurs. BOY did I sweat! I was literally dripping sweat for 60 minutes. I loved it. I will also continue to play 1 day of sports a week (dodgeball starts in Oct)

Eating around 1800-2000 cals a day and seem to be maintaining okay (although I havent weighed myself, I still fit into a few pairs of pants that are my guide)

Do you think I am lightly active now?

Chels, I would think that lightly active would be the minimum.  I sure wouldn't put less than that.

When I looked it up on CC here, it said that 1 hour of kickboxing is roughly 500 cals burned, so that twice a week is awesome!! Dodgeball wasnt in there, but running around for 30-45 minutes will burn some cals thats for sure!

I think closer to the winter I'll pick up a day of weights (when i become an indoors girl again) and that should help.

So far I am maintaining, of course I fluctuate daily, but still fitting into the smaller clothes that I have!!

Funny how when its that time of the month I seem to feel like Im way fatter ..probably cuz of cramps/bloating. silly girl.

Is jump roping as good an exercise as running?

In terms of calorie burning, moderate jumping is about equal to running a 10-minute mile, although calorie burning is always a function of time... Read more
