Activity level confusion! Please help.
In the account settings it ask if I'm sedentary, light activity, and so forth. If, for instance, I sit all day long I'm sedentary. But if I plan to exercise for an hour each day and add that to my activity log, do I change my setting to light? That alters the number of calories the site recommends for me as well as the way my burn meter advances, which makes me think that I shouldn't change it. But I'm really unsure. If someone could answer this for me I would be very grateful.
If you are going to exercise an hour each day, you are at least light, if not moderate. But that means you don't get to log the activity, because you've already taken it into consideration with the activity level.
However, to get the calorie target, you should definitely use the light or moderate setting, because otherwise the tool is recommending you eat based on being sedentary, which you are NOT! :)
Perfect! That's exactly what I needed to know. Thanks for your help!
Yep - I'm confused about activity level too. I work from home (home educating my daughter) but workout:
Monday: 40mins cardio, 20 mins ab toning exercises
Tuesday: 40 mins weight training
Wednesday 60 mins cardio
Thursday 40 mins weights, 20 mins ab toning
Friday: 40 mins cardio
Saturday: 40 mins weights, 20 mins ab toning
Sunday: rest
Given your previous answer should I enter "moderate" and not enter my activities to get my calorie target?
It sounds to me like your schedule is pretty solid so you can probably do just that. Mine is pretty sporadic, so I find it more reliable to put down sedentary and add any exercise that I do. I reckon you could double check by putting down moderate first and see what it records, then switch to light or sedentary and put down all your exercise and see what it says for burn.
Of course, I'm a long ways from being an expert!
Thanks....I'll try that!!
What type of food should not be eaten?
