Activity Level :S "Less than an hour?"

Quote  |  Reply

Hey guys :)

I've put in my stats in the teen calculator and for me if i had the 'right' metabolism it says

1700 -sedentary

2000- less than an hour

2400- about an hour

So what would 30 mins a day on the eliptical (burning ~350 calories) be?
Since what they say could be anywhere between walking to running.

Thanks :)

Activity level refers to how active you are throughout the day.  Your time on the eliptical would be considered exercise and should be logged above and beyond your activity level.  So if you are in school i would say light

Hmmmm well it says "is your child active"? and then the choices were

rarely, less than an hour, about an hour, more than an hour. Sorry :S

is that the same as you mean?

meaning how active are you throughout the day  when you get home from school do you veg infront of the tv or do you do stuff that sort of thing

Well i burn about 400 doing 30 mins on the elliptical, I think if you're burning more than 400 cals in exercise then you should count it as "more than one hour". I think the people who came up with that is considering a leasurely 30 minute walk as "moderate".

I think you get in that at least during the school day, plus you do exercise on top of that? I dont know if thats the case, but i would consider my description as more than an hour.

does this "more than one hour" include daily activties? Like walking around campus, back and forth to classes, up and down several flights of stairs many times a day?

Thats what I'd like to know. lol

I'm pretty sure it does.  Most of my activity comes from being on my feet for much of the day and I easily burn more than 2000 cals/day (and I'm not a teen).

Yeah I'm still trying to get my metabolism completely in order since I used to maintain on 1000 calories :S ( Can't imagine living off that now :P) I got my mainteniance successfully to 1600 calories but that was with exercise about 200 calories a day and I'm trying to get it up to 2000.

right now i'm doing 1800 calories a day plus 400 calories burned on eliptical every OTHER day. But i'm gaining weight :( so I'm gonan try 2000 calories with 400 burned everyday.

I'm basically at school then walk my dog for like 15 mins, then go to the gym (on gym days) and then just sit around and do hmwk... waht do you think would be the amount i *should* be able to maintain on if my metabolsim was in working order?

Ok if you are increasing your caloric intake your probably going to pick up a bit of weight. But the key right now is to stablize your metabolism..  Eat breakfast lunch and dinner with your largest meal preferably lunch  eat snacks(celery and peanut butter works good flavored rice cakes also work good).  The key is you should NEVER be hungrey throughout the day.  Keep your caloric intake consistent  and keep your activity level consistent
