Activity log accuracy???

Quote  |  Reply

I remember at some point that the activity counter tool only showed the number of calories burned for a person who was 150lbs- is this still the case??

thanks!

The activity log here has always shown an estimate for the number of calories burned for someone with your specific stats and assuming you correctly identify the intensity of your exercise it's pretty close to being accurate.

For real presicion in your measurements you can use a heart rate monitor, but I'm not convinced that there's any real advantage to it outside of performance training given that if you aren't a professional athlete the bulk of your calorie expenditure will happen outside of exercise anyway.

You might be thinking of the calorie figures from generic exercise gear like a stationary bike which is generally calibrated for a 150lbs 25 year old person if you don't enter your details of age, height and weight prior to using it.

It didn't a few years ago- but that's a moot point.

I always enter in my weight/age into the machines- somewhat of an anal tendency I suppose.

Thanks for the response!

It does as long as you're logged in.  Otherwise it shows for a 150lb person.
