Activity Log Question - CONFUSED! HELP!
Hi... does anyone know if the burn numbers the activity log spits out for certain activities include the activities regularily burned during that length of time or is it JUST the additional calories burned?
For example, in 60mins of doing nothing (burn meter) one burns 100cals (just to keep body/organs alive)...
Now if you type in activity "Walking" for 60mins it says calories burned are say.. 250cals...
a) Is that 250cal in ADDITION to the 100cals you burn in that hour to just keep your body alive? for a total of 350cals in that 60mins of the day????
-OR-
b) Is it 250cals INCLUDING the 100cals your body needs to function for that hour?? (so 250cals all together - 100cals for regular body functions = actual burn of 150cals from walking)
I'm not sure because I think my activity log double counts.. i think it may be adding my basic burn (too kep my body alive) combined with my activities (which also include the basic burn # within the burn total for the specified activity)....
ugh.. I hope it's clear.. I'm really confused... help please!
Good question, I am wondering the same thing. I am wondering if I should be logging my exercise I do daily if I set my activity level at "Light" or should I put it back at Sedendary and log my exercise? I am so confused too.
Your activity log only accounts for the actual activity -- when it get added to your BURN meter -- that's when the calories that would have been burnt are accounted for -- there is no double dipping. You will still get the 250 -- but, since you would have burned 100 anyway, when you look at your burn meter, it will look like only 150 was added.... (numbers are not exact) (so the answer is B)
Regarding the adding exercise to your daily log if your activity level is set at Light -- ONLY if the exercise is out of the ordinary, something more than what caused you to place yourself at "Light activity". I coun't myself as "light activity" but don't add in the walking and bike riding I do daily (not that much), because that's how I got the Light. HOWEVER, if I were to go for a swim, or a run, or lift some weights, or even just do the elliptical -- I would add those calories to my log and my burn
omg - thanks so much for clearing that up.. I hadn't even noticed that the numbers are adjusted when they get added to the burn meter on the home page.. makes total sense now..
So when it report the estimated burn in the activity log it IS counting both the burn + activity..
HOWEVER...
When it gets added to your DAILY BURN METER it automatically adjusts the # to add the calories burned during the activity ONLY...
excellent! THANK YOU :)
You've got it now K_angel!! Took a peek at your profile... GREAT JOB SO FAR!!! I hope you are so proud of yourself. You are really doing amazing things! Keep up the good work and best of luck![]()
