actual bmr compare to the calculator
just out of curiousity, how many of you out there find that the bmr calculator is accurate?i know its supposed to be a rough guide but i want to know how much it varies from person to person on the average.
because i have a problem, hv been trying to lose weight(around 4 kg). It's not much but i have not lost a single POUND over a month! i tried the calorie shifting diet,im trying to count my calories as accurately as possible. i should be eating 1700 cals apparently. and i think i have been consuming around 1500-1600 cals(on normal days) but even when i lower it, im still not losing weight!
so i'm wondering whether to just eat more and follow the calculator and maybe it'll be easier to lose weight?(pls don't suggest weight training, i can't do it in the meantime due to certain reasons)
i'm really fustrated because i used to eat really little 1000-1200 cals, or even less and have brought it up to 1500-1600,put on 2 pounds(which i know isn't that much )and it still has not disappeared. is 1500-1600 still considered undereating?my school clothes are getting really tight and now i don't even look forward to school anymore as i have to stuff myself in a tight uniform so even putting on even a few pounds would be painful. sorry for ranting.
You referred to "school clothes" so I'll assume you're a teenager (rather than a teacher). If so, 1500-1600 calories is probably still too few. A teenage girl should be able to maintain her weight eating at least 2000 calories/day (often more like 2300 cals/day). If you can't, that means you've depressed your metabolism by undereating, so try eating 2300/day for a week or so before you dropping back down to weightloss calories so that you can "kick-start" your metabolism. Also, for a teenager to gain a pound or two might just mean you're growing (breasts, hips, etc.) rather than that you're gaining fat. So, keep that in mind. At your age, it's best to focus on making healthy food choices and getting exercise rather than strict calorie counting.
Because you're a teenager, the BMR calculated by CC will be at least 300 cals/day lower than your actual BMR. Heck, I'm 30 and I find that CC's value for my daily burn is a couple of hundred calories lower than it is.
