How to add foods that are a healthy choice?
Okay, so after learning about 'starvation mode' from this website, I decided to up my calories to a minimum of 1200 a day. The thing is, it's pretty much impossible for me to reach that goal without binging! I eat pretty healthy, but at the end of the day I have eaten only 700 calories. It seems the only way I can eat all my calories without overstuffing myself is through unhealthy junk food. I'm getting soooooo desperate for calories because I really want to jump out of this whole starvation mode thing. Any advice for adding calories in a healthy way?

Try adding calories in small increments throughout the day, like having a protein shake or bar every few hours.
whfoods - check out the recipies. Many are higher cal but super healthy. Try eating more at brekkie to rev your metabolism. This may mean having 2 mini brekkies.
Try not to eat diet foods. Low fat is better than no fat. If you're still unsure you could try skim milk powder. Add it to your normal milk. Plus its a protein boost. Just a tsp at a time, but it all adds up.
Try not to have those big blocks at the end of the day - you'll try to fill up with more foods and feel sick (what i did tonight). Instead, plan your meals.
300 brekkie - porridge/oats with milk nuts, apricots and sultanas. Maybe a dash of honey OR 2 slices of toast, one with 1 tbsp PB, one with a vitamin type spread (vegemite) with a glass of milk and a piece of fruit. Try some eggs.
100 snack - try nuts and popcorn mix. Fruit salad. Yogurt adding low fat museli. Sprinkle with wheatgerm
400 Lunch - I make this my biggest meal to give me energy. So I try and have my meat here. Have a whole bread roll, with some meat and veggies.
100 snack - something to keep you going. Maybe a treat if youre under cals
400 Dinner - usually a lighter meal. Have a salad, with protein but make sure you use dressing. Helps you absorb nutrients.
That makes 1200. 400 lunches are often too big for me if i dont eat meat, so you could make it 300 cal lunch and have 100 cal dessert.
Instead of having super low-cal foods like celery or lettuce, try for a bit more brown rice, couscous, spinach. Have mangos and bananas instead of rockmelon and apples.
You can also try drinks. 100% fruit juices etc during the day. Esp. if they;'re fortified with folate or something.
Maybe have a 200 cal smoothie as a snack, by adding wheat germ, or somehting high cal, but healthy. Like good oils

I recommend checking out out the follwing website link, one of my most favorite resource. It's a website that provides a list of what is considered the world's most healthiest foods and then it has a link on each food item with information on all the nutritional properties and benefits:
List of The World's Healthiest Foods
http://www.whfoods.com/foodstoc.php
List of The World's Healthiest Foods

Use that list of the World's Healthiest Foods and choose from the list. Then PLAN your day. Plan 3 meals and 3 snacks, evenly spaced. That way you aren't eating too much at one time, and you're not left at the end of the day with an unreasonable deficit to be made up.
Good Luck, and congratulations of making the decision to do this the healthy way!

This is what works for me
I know that if I eat my last meal at around 8:30 each night, I am going to be very hungry come breakfast time! So I always make sure that I eat something high in fiber and protein as my last meal of the day. That way I don't feel like binging at eleven thirty or something like that (like I used to).
Also, lunch and breakfast are your biggest meals of the day. of course, you should be eating 6 small meals a day, not just breakfast, lunch, and supper. But first thing in the morning and around the middle of your day, fill up on the breadth of your day's calorie intake. The rest of your meals should be smaller, fewer calories, but with all the important components of a good meal. Fiber, protein, nutrients, and low sodium, preferrably not processed.
However, a protein bar does make a great mid-afternoon snack. I eat protein bars when we rent movies. you always seem to want ice cream or chips when you rent a movie right? grab a delicious PowerBar Peanut Butter Chip protein bar and cup of green tea. totaly satisfying!
