Are you addicted to fast food ?

Quote  |  Reply

For the last 10 years, I have been addicted to fast food.  The addiction makes me so sad.  I feel it is a addiction compared to prescription or alcoholics addiction.   Does anyone else out there fight this demon,  and if so what helps you fight not caving in?  I would love support or to hear peoples stories how fast food has effected your life (if it has at all)  The longest I have gone is 2 weeks.  then I rationalize my way through the drive thru.  I am really hard on myself when this happens.

I love fast food. I love McDonalds. I  do feel terrible afterwards and I don't even feel full which is the bad thing .

To lose the weight in 2007 I had to make a hard and fast rule with myself and I didn't eat it not even once in 2007. I was so proud of myself.

I am trying to do the same thing in 2009. Because once I open the gate to allow myself to go it's like Pandora's box, it's like opening the gate to hell. I would be there all the time.

I totally understand. I'm so addicted to fast food. Nothing else really even tastes good to me anymore. The worst thing was watching the More to Love show on TV and realizing that I weighed more than all of those girls except ones. And I could lose weight if I could just break this habit. But I'm stuck. Its amazing how much healthier I feel and definitely how much money I have when I don't. It's just sooo hard. I just went through a divorce and I've started dating again and all we do is eat out together. I wish I had some helpful advice but I'm afraid I need it in this instance.

I've never been crazy about food from McDonald's so I can't say I can relate. However, as one poster noted there are some ways around it. Instead of getting the larger size, go for the kid's meal. Much less food and you get a toy! I believe there are studies popping up about how fast food can actually be addictive. They load up the food with salt, sugar and fats that the body loves and will crave for more. I'd suggest weening off of fast foods. Maybe even learning to cook the foods you love and putting a healthy twist on them. For example, I found that I adore baked fries at home. I'd choose those over fast food fries any day.

I am addicted to fast food.  I think it is like any other addiction to smoking, alchohol, etc.  It doesn't even taste good to me anymore but I can't stop going to McDonalds for breakfast in the mornings.  It is a craving from my body and my brain rationalizes why I should go there.  I need help!!!  I know I can just stay home or leave my cash at home but it really is harder than that.  Has anyone heard of a good diet plan that would stop my cravings quickly?  I always start off good but by the 6th or 7th day I see a commercial for a Big and Tasty and I can't help myself.  I am ashamed but I need to admit this so I can get some help.
