just addicted to food?

Quote  |  Reply

even if i'm not hungry, i still feel the need and want to eat food. i haven't been able to lose anything because all i do it seems is eat. if food isn't there, then i won't go and buy something, but if it is, i devour it.

anyone else out there who feels the same/any suggestions for what i should do?

yup

basically whenever i go home to visit my parents

i'm just eating from the minute i wake up to when i fall asleep

but at my place.. i don't keep food around except some fruits and veggies

if i wanna cook, i go to the grocery store and buy a one-time portion

otherwise i can't control myself

Food is delightful stuff....   We're meant to enjoy it, that's a big part of the reason for eating.   'Addiction' is a bit strong.  Sounds like you're an opportunistic snacker so your best policy (as thin_girl recommends) is not to have foods around that you don't want to eat.  Fill up the fuit bowl, chop up some raw vegetables to nibble on,  have some low-fat yoghurts in the fridge.... make it easier for yourself to eat well than to eat badly.  Eventually, you'll get out of the habit.

Next suggestion.... make sure you eat regularly.  Plan a light meal or a small snack every two or three hours so that you have a steady stream of energy.  This can be reassuring and keep you away from unplanned snacks.

Final suggestion... make your main meals more substantial and more filling by adding lots of extra vegetables to the plate and choosing high-fibre carbohydrates.   Also make your main meals interesting and flavoursome.  Nothing will have you looking for stimulation elsewhere than bland, boring food.

Also, maybe your body is telling you to eat! At 116lbs you are very close to being underweight, and you're only 15 so if you are using CC's tools to figure out your intake you are probably severely underestimating. Teenage girls are still growing and need more calories than adult girls do!! I would check your intake because if you are eating as much as you say you are, maybe you are trying to restrict too much!

As right you are Katiemac I doubt the OP will listen, she's been told so many times before and ignores it.
