Obviously, you need to have your mind cleansed. Please step into my office so I may cleanse it.
Well, hello there, good to see you. You're here for the mind cleansing? Great, let's get started.

funny. mmm peanut butter lol
Try buying all natural peanut butter instead, the one where the oil separates out. You can eat about a spoonful of it, and not want any more. It's oo good, but it fills you up!
I, too, once had a peanut butter addiction! After I broke up with my first serious boyfriend in high school, I ate peanut butter by the SPOONFULS. No bread, no banana. Just PB. I gained 10 pounds in 2 months and thought "that is it!" I forbade my family from even purchasing peanut butter and eventually broke the habit. My fav PB now is the kind that you have to mix together (from Sprouts Farmer's Market) after you open it and refrigerate. It seems like all the oil is on the top when I first get a jar so I pour it all out. Good luck! Peanut butter is quite the opponent to weight loss!
jinx alice!
au contraire, mon frers!!  Peanut butter is a good thing for us vegetarians!!  I have at least a tablespoon a day now to boost my protein and fats,  but then, I only buy all-natural, no salt or sugar added peanut butter.

Love the stuff, especially crunchy!!
I also love the PB and sometimes the PB&J.  I am trying to avoid it though.
I eat at least 2 tbsp of PB a day!  Just work it into your cals and fat%.  Keep your other foods low in fat (i eat nonfat or lowfat dairy all the time, and lean or fat-free meats) to allow room for the extra fat you get from the PB.  I usually have 1 oz of almonds during the day too, because they provide the good omega-3 fats.  The PB and the almonds make up my fat percentage, and I get my PB fix for the day, so everybody wins.

Also, this summer I found Better'n Peanut Butter (click it!), which has about 1/2 the cals of regular PB (50 cals per tbsp vs about 100) and about 1/8 the fat (2.5 g of fat vs 16)!  It tastes a bit different, less fatty obviously, but is still super tasty.  It's a great way to get the PB fix with waaay less cals and fat.
If I can't find the peanut butter I look under the kids bed.  It usually has a spoon in it and they take turns eating it.  A lot better snack then chips!
What about weening yourself by switching to lower calorie peanut butter flavored things?  Or just...kinda eat less.  I mean, not cold turkey or anything.  But if you eat 3 tablespoons, cut it by a teaspoon.  Then the next week by another...and so on.  Until you don't feel this need to eat it.

But hey, if you fit it in your diet, go for it.  Sure it's fatty, but it's healthy fat.  I wouldn't sweat it.
I have the same problem!  I do really well in every other aspect but peanut butter is my one vice.  It may sound a little odd but I have learned to stir a little into my oatmeal every day.  It still gives me that peanut butter flavor I crave but I don't have to eat as much of it.  Or some light bread toasted with a teaspoon of peanut butter with a little sweetener sprinkled on top is good too!

If it wasn't for the kids I would simply ban it from the house but my 6 yr old wouldn't be too happy with me!
If you really love the stuff don't give it up.  I didn't.  I also would eat spoonful after spoonful of peanut butter.  Now I buy the natural peanut butter.  But do not throw out the oil at the top.  It is actually good oil for you in moderation.  To eat it less, slice up an apple and eat it with a tablespoon of peanut butter.  It is great and because the apple if full of fiber you eat less of the peanut butter.   Enjoy and good luck.
Yeah you can still have it but maybe every other day? But this post freaked me out because i just started having this problem lately too! i crave peanut butter then give in to those cravings...usually at night! It's true it's a tad fatty..but it's so......good..and addictive! :-O
I looooooooove peanut butter.  Since I'm not very good at cooking, if I ever need lunch, I can just whip up a PB&J!  C'est Magnifique!

I have Skippy in my fridge right now, and I'm grieving over whether to use it or not.  I have TWO JARS, but I just discovered the words "partially hydrogenated" in the ingredients!  AHHHHHH!  My favorite peanut butter is trying to kill me!

*is so tired, she can't see straight, but can't manage to fall asleep*  >.<
i've heard that when we crave stuff like peanut butter it's because we lack protein in our diet...does anyone know if this is true?
I heard that melting a T of PB in the microwave almost gives the appearance of doubling the amount......and warm PB spread on a rice cake....yum, yum, yum
i normally eat just the 2tblsp or even one sometimes...but recently ive
been bringing the jar with me. that's where i think im having the HUGE
problem. im not craving protein i get like 70g+ a day but maybe i
should just forget we own it lol...damn my grandmother for putting PB
in the house! well...im going to have to learn to live with a lot of
things being in the house. that's what it's all about right? better
choices, smaller portions, less fat around the midsection haha. i was
talking to a friend of mine the other day who asked why i wanted to
lose weight since im beautiful and no one who loves me cares what i
look like as long as im healthy. i simply said "i want my energy back,
my sex drive back, and my skinny jeans back"...she said "fair enough"
haha...no more PB for me. because i've got a lot of work till i get to
those skinny jeans!
What is it about peanut butter? I'm addicted to, and ya, it kills my calorie count too. My BFF always says, "Why do you always eat peanut butter when I come over?" It's because I'm always eating it!
tinamkz, I bought a jar of Better'n Peanut Butter at trader joe's and it was expensive! Hopefully it is worth it but I've been avoiding peanut butter because of calories.
