Addiction or not?? Do you do this too? Help!
I am very sorry if this post is listed here somewhere.
The thing I am doing is kind of an addiction.. or is it?
Sometimes twist im my chair from side to side. Bounce my leg up and down.. when the microwave is on a time I do leg lunges.. little things all day. Wiggle my my foot feeling my calf move.. For some reason I think all the little things help. This is the 3rd week of exercise and diet and I wonder if I am becoming an addict to this? It is wierd? Help!!!!
Reason: Locked per op request in post #21
I wouldn't call it an addiction? But I read somewhere that people who fidget tend to be slimmer than people who simply stand/sit there like a lump.
Relax. It's fine.
They're just twitches, for the most part. Lots of people get them and I got more as I started to get more active and lose weight. It just happens when you get more energy.
Exercise addictions wouldn't be so bad anyway. I was addicted to the gym for a month... back when I could afford it... The only time is gets dangerous is when you start trying to counteract ALL your intake with exercise...
Exercise Bulimia... it's an extreme you don't REALLY want to get to. Trust me here.
Thank you so much! I used to get bored and sleep.. now that is not even an option.. i dont get tired during the day.. I dont nap anymore. I feel more alert too.. but I was a junk food junkie and I have not ate any junk food ( burger king, ect
My skin feels way better.. Your right! It has to be more energy![]()
It's a healthy addiction! Keep it up!
great question! does what you are doing effect your life and anyone else's in a negative manner? do you miss work wiggling? do you spend the rent money on wiggling? do you hide your wiggling from others? do you steal to continue wiggling? etc...... get the point. if its not hurting you go for it. i am gonna add the microwave leg lunges.
love & light

Tourette's?......
No I do not have tourettes... It is extra energy that I have from exercising. Not to mention I thanked the person who posted to explain what it was... and you feel the need to slam me with a disabling disease?
Why is it that something positive is turned negative.. From now on I am done posting on this site. I have lost weight before and am good at sticking to what I need to do. I have been pretty active posting in the forum ..
I TRY to be positive. I even said thank you to the answer I was looking for and BAM .. Tourettes? WTF???? I though I had something to share but yanno what? I dont need negativity or labeled with a disease from a stranger when in fact I am pretty healthy other then needing to lose weight.
Your comment is way out of line..
Good luck all on your weight journey. Done here.
Regardless of the cause, it doesn't sound like an unhealthy thing. There are varying levels of Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (hence, the reason it's a spectrum disorder), and I am on the low-end of OCD. If I tap my hand, it has to be five times, and I have to do it with both hands for symmetry. I call them fidgies, a term of endearment for fidgets.
I'm not saying you have OCD. I'm only pointing out that there are a number of things that could be causing your fidgies and using myself as an example.
Well done on the diet and exercise and don't worry about your fidgies!

Tourette's?......
Not to speak for her but...I think gi-jane was being facetious, not "slamming you with a disease". I honestly think you over-reacted to her post. Just my opinion, though.
My question was answered prior and even posted to the response.
What was the cause to type Tourette's after the fact?
I am 44 years old and have not exercized in over 5 years. Now I know what the energy is from. I am healthy other then being 25 pounds overweight.. throughout my life up to the late 30s-never overwieght.
So in posting this I know that it is not tourettes. I think it was rude and presumtious and totally uncalled for.
So how about if someone posted to another who ate overate their whole life that they have tape worm?
Totally out of line.

WOW, holy overreaction batman! maybe you should stick around long enough to see that GI Jane gives amazing fitness advice here. it was a JOKE. people actually make those on this site sometimes.
you didn't seriously think that she thinks you have tourettes did you?
sheesh!

Seriously. I was going to ask the OP if you're on diet pills or steroids, with a reply like that.... sheesh.

I didn't find it funny, but then I've observed before on here that people losing weight, or under-eating, are criticised and even ridiculed in ways that would not happen if they were over-eating or gaining (unwanted, unhealthy) weight.
If I was asking about possible reasons why I over-ate cookies, I doubt a reply of "Tourettes?" as an answer would stay up long before it got reported... and rightly so.
Back ON topic, I find when I do intense calisthenics in a session, I enjoy flexing my new-found muscles afterwards, in my view it's not an addiction, just your body welcoming its return to healthy fitness.
The same way dogs look forward to walkies - because they KNOW exercising feels GOOOOD! ![]()

Personally I could care less what she thinks. It was wrong and if it was a joke why not post it was? I have a great sence of humor and can take a joke just fine. Over reaction no.. and not to mention it was way out of line. Who is she to determine if I have a disease? She is not my doctor. Joke or not!

There you go as well.. What give you the right to say I am on diet pills.. for your information no I am not on any diet pills and never have taken steriods. There is another under educated response. It just if this person if your friend on here of course you will stick up for them.. regardless the topic. I am a very happy go lucky person and its too bad you didnt really get to know me now that you have decided to post a response like this.. I can see that this forum is full of young people with uneducated guesses and or finger pointing... more so in the wrong direction.
Thank you Maggie. Yes new found muscles that have not been used in a long time is kinda exciting.. Exercise feels great and I think anyone who thinks that they hate it should give it a good month.. I used to think I hated it and dreaded the thought of having to longer then 10 minutes..lol Its a remarkable feeling and so glad I stuck with it and and to understand its benefits.. Instead of cringing.. man.. I have to work out.. I look forward to it and cant wait to have the feeling of accomplishment. Simple amazing the diffence you feel body and mind! Thank you!

^^^This! Wow, somebody is cranky today... I suggest you calm down, nobody is "slamming you"... if you want off the site, fine. But if you're leaving because of one comment (that you took the wrong way) I would suggest you may have a tendency to take things too personally.

Now lets copy the correct post before you start your negative comment. Taking part of it to suit your needs to be negative.
As far as I am concerned this post should be closed and am requesting it so. I don't take anything personally on a internet post period. There will always be those who have make rude comments and you are one of them. You think I am cranky? You think your are helping this post with your rude comments? I am actually a happy go lucky person. You just seem to fall in the group of those who have to post negative comments to make yourself feel better.. or is it one of your internet buddy's you support? You actually just enhanced her comment.
Your the type I avoid like the plague. Keep the fire burning .. cant stand to let it go. You suggest I calm down?
I suggest you should block me as I am you. Now mind your own already as this post was ending on a positive note BEFORE your lame remark. Take a positivity class.. it will suit you.
