The ads on this forum

Do they bother anybody else? I'm not against the idea of there BEING ads, I appreciate that for a free site, ads are a necessarily evil. But why, on a website that promotes healthy weight loss, and there ads for "miracle diets," "lose 9 pounds even 11 days by following these 10 simple rules!" etc.

Just wondering if I'm the only one.

They bother me  too - but I just ignore them

I have adblock :P

^ LOLS.  A lot of the time what I've found is that ads are based on the subject matter in posts (determined by the use of key words).  Like on this forum that my friend and I run, we had one topic that was just all about gay rights and all that stuff.  Well lo and behold, one day someone posted the most brilliant response in that topic.

"I just looked down and saw an ad for 'Gay Thug Dating.'"

I scrolled down and proceeded to laugh hysterically.  Like what the heck!

But yes, as contradictory as they seem, know that they're probably just keyworded and so the actual site isn't like PROMOTING them.

I always had the same thoughts! They completely contradict what we (should) believe in... but I understand why they are there

I find them irritating and at the same time tempting;) I would love to lose 20 pounds in 3 weeks! (I would love to lose 20 pounds in 3 months!!) The ads must get some response or they wouldn't still be running them. I manage to ignore them, but I wish there were ads on good workout gear..... :o)

What ads? My HOST file must be blocking them. Cool

Most of the time I ignore them; the ones I do happen to catch are quite amusing though.

I was just thinking about that! From what I have seen they seem to go against the entire philosophy of this forum. Pretty funny though :P

I guess I don't see what you guys are talking about. Firefox and Adblock Plus for the win Cool.

I've been wondering the same things for weeks!! I keep CC open on my computer all day so I easily remember to input calories and I can see the Eat Meter on my address bar. So obviously, I see these ads, say for Pillsbury Dinner Rolls which we call "puffs of heaven" at home for a reason, I want to snack on something unhealthy. I wonder what it would do to us if they advertised pedometers, or healthy snacks like celery sticks, etc. OH, but the fad diets, for crying out loud!! Anyway, off my soapbox.
