Adult Height Predictors

Quote  |  Reply
They scare me, because I've done alot of them and they all say I won't grow any taller than my current height (5'1). I know most of you would say that I should just appreciate my height. But I really want to grow at least 5 more inches! So can the height predictors be wrong? Could there be factors that can actually help me grow taller?

Well, how old are you? What about your parents' heights, as well as other family members?
To be realisic, I'd say 5 inches is unlikely, but you may still grow!  Based on all the calculators, and according to my doctor, I should have ened up between 5'3 and 5'4 - instead I'm over 5'7.  my point is that they can be wrong!

And remember, there's always high heels :)

Ignore the height predictors. Genetics is the main factor for determining how tall you are, and proper nutrition is necessary for you to achieve that height.

Yes but I put in my parents' heights and they tell me I'm going to stay 5'1.

Sorry to be so indelicate, but if it is more than two years since you started a regular menstrual cycle, than the most you will grow would be about an inch.  If not, than more is possible.

What's wrong with being 5'1?  You can't change your maximum height, it's genetics.  You can end up shorter is you have poor nutrition.  Don't stress about it!

The best thing to make yourself grow is to eat the proper amount of calories for teenagers, you need proper nutrition. Never to skimp on calories and keep them largely healthy calories by limiting horrible junk food.

That being said, 5'1" really isn't so bad. That's my height give or take, and I enjoy being petite.  And besides that, according to the height predictor I should be 5'2" (which is pretty accurate) but my sister of the same parents is 5'4" or 5'5" so it isn't always right!

Ha! 5'1 is great! I am 4'9. I wished for even 5 it never happened, anyways- be happy with your height it's not that bad!

My parents are both 5'8.5, and my 16 year old sister is 5'9.

I'm almost 19 however, and only 5'3, and have been since the age of 13.  My friends all give me the milkman joke, fortunately I look enough like both of my parents to just laugh at them when they say that.

ive never heard of having height predicted except when join the english national ballet school, is this a normal thing to do in the USA?

Doesnt seem that parents are always the best predictors of height my mum is about 5'2 and dad 5'9 which is not tall. Im 5'7 my older sister 5'9 and younger 5'4 so thats quite a variation from very tall to short/average.

I think if you look to your extended family as well this will give you a better overview of genetic height.

Im 5'7 and have loads of friends 5-5'3, they are lucky that they get to be petite and cute then can put on 4" heels and look amazing. If i wear 4" heels im nearly 6ft and look like a drag queen! Kylie Minogue is 5" 1/2 as she keeps reminding everyone about the extra 1/2" but shes always hailed as beautiful and pocket size, many many men like petite
