And Adults Wonder Why Teens Feel They Need To Eat Drastically Less and Lose Weight!!!
Parents and adults always ponder one question: why do fit, good-looking healthy teens feel they need to lose weight?
Well, though it's not COMPLETELY their fault, they do have a big part in it.
They don't show us how to eat healthy, how to love our bodies and curves, how to be active everyday.
For example, my Mother and I used to go to the gym but then I stopped about 2 months ago. I did a lot of at-home workouts. But now I think going to the gym would burn more calories, a good way to get out of the house and a good way to bond.
Me: Hey, do I still have a gym membership?
Mom: *laughs obnoxiously* No.
Me: Oh .Since when?
Mom: Since you decided to stop going in the summer.
Me: Oh. Do you think you can renew it?
Mom: You have a treamdill in your room( says this as if I'm 5)
Me: But I have asthma so I don't do well on it. I like the elliptical better.
Mom: Well, why don't you go lift some of your brother's weights *laughs obnoxiously as she walks out* (my brother lifts about 300 pounds. I'm 123.)
Why can't I have a membership? The gym is in our town, she goes weekly and it's cheap b/c the place is small with very little recruitment. This makes me wants to eat less and less and exercise more and more just to show her I CAN sloe weight and then maybe she can get me a membership. She's supposed to ENCOURAGE a love of getting active and fit and being happy with my body. Instead she just laughs me in the face. This really hurts me. Right now exercise is something forced because of my asthma. I need a machine that is better for my breathing unlike my 30-year old treadmill that makes a LOT of noise and she's always telling me to get off of or not to use.

Ok I'm a mom of a pre-teen and we butt heads all the time (we are the exactly the same stubborn person) So please try talking to her, like a girls day, would be a good time, If you can go get your nails done together, have lunch, then talk.
I found this post from you.
- Height: 5'5
- Age:13
- Start Weight: 135 on CC
- Current Weight: 123
- Goal Weight: 105- New Year's would be great but I'm not pushing it.
Your ideal weight is 113-138. You are at a perfect weight right now. 105lbs is too low. I'm 5'2" and it's to low for me.
I suggest you stand in front of the mirror and really look at yourself. look for the good. Honey you are beautiful HOW YOU ARE.
Treadmills have speed control set it at 3.5 mph and walk. Just because it can go fast doesn't mean you HAVE to.
If you can pay for a membership why not go to the local walmart and buy some "girly" hand weights. I suggest "The firm" set it comes with 1lb grips and "heads" that twist on for up tp 5lbs. It has a DVD too. It's only $35.(target) here's the firm's site. Also Yoga is a good workout that will give you lean musclesand smooth everything. So will Pilates.
I hate to say it but maybe your mom thinks you are too skinny and/or obsessing. She may think you are develping an ED.
The CC calculators are geared for adults, not for 13 year olds. While the OP's weight is a good one for her age, her goal weight is not considered unhealthy which is would be for an adult.

Your original post did say anything about your paying for your own gym membership and your mom canceling it or anything about your willingness to pay for it. Your original post implied that you expected your mom to pay for it and that it was unfair for her to be able to go to the gym and for you not to. You also didn't mention that the weights available to you were 100lbs instead of the typical increments.
You and your mom obviously have some other issue going on, perhaps you had gotten into a fight before discussing the gym or she had a bad day at work or something else was going on, maybe she sees people at the gym that she doesn't want you hanging around with. I don't know your history but it can play a large part in parents placing restrictions on their children's activities.
Setting that aside, you still have plenty of options at home. Walking around the neighborhood or on the treadmill or at least as much as you can without your asthma getting triggered. Soup cans make great light weights. Mild jugs do the same...especially once they're empty and you can fill them with sand or dirt to make your custom weights. You can do push ups, sit ups, and squats and lunges without any equipment. You can take a length of rope or an old t-shirt and use it for stretching like an exercise band. You can google other options.

thank you for the advice. I am trying to find some good teen's workouts. And she doesn't notice if I'm eating less; she's never home.
I wasn't using CC for her ideal weight I went to 3 kid/teen charts. which is why there is a range.
I was tring to show her that she is healthy. Even on the low side of healthy.

Are you restricting food as a way to get her attention?
