I'm emotional and eat and i eat because I'm emotional. I have a goal to lose 20 lb's before June.  My family is way into eating Creamy and rich foods and I'm saving for my G2 classes! So I'm at a loss, Rich, creamy foods or give up my G2. is there, any quick and cheap foods i can eat while I'm on the go and don't go over my Calorie Count? Also dose this site really help, if im dedicated?

I just started thsi site today, but after a good look around I think it will be very helpful in my 70 lbs loss goal.

As for quick, cheap food on the go... I've always been a fan of carrying around raw veggies. They're fairly inexpensive, low cal and give you energy. Rich and creamy, they are not, but it's good on the go food.

a i just started too. The veggie idea is good! Smile

Good luck with your Goal!

hi j, and welcome!

when it comes to eating healthy, nothing beats homemade. since you are so busy you may want to consider setting aside a couple hours once a week to make meals for that week. you can freeze and reheat things for quick, healthy meals.

you could also keep frozen veggies at home that you can heat and add to a small portion of what your family is eating. maybe you will even encourage them to eat healthier!

as for on-the-go snacks, it's good to get some protein in with some string cheese, yogurt or nuts. raw veggies are great, too.

if you are going to be serious about weight loss, it is going to involve a time committment, but maybe not as much time as you think! the more you plan and think ahead the less you'll be likely to get bogged don't in that "i'm too busy to eat right" kind of thinking and reach for something that's unhealthy but convenient.

good luck!

Ya it's going to be nut's. lol. Thanks for your tips! Smile

I do like the sound of taking a couples hours and cooking. (i love to cook) also for my health and the enjoyment in it.

THANKYOU!

You have made the fist big step. Wanting to make a change, the rest is determination, dedication and willpower. There is no magic pill, easy answer. Look  into clean/balanced eating. Make small changes and don't make excuses not to exercise. http://www.shapefit.com/weight-loss-new-year. html

Eat whole grains (pasta, rice, bread) lowfat dairy, lean meats and fish, good fats. Stay away from transfat. Don't need any of that at all. You do need the other fats. Complex carb, limit simple carbs. Stay away from fast foods, fried foods, sugary drinks pop (diet or regular) processed and convenience foods. Look for healthy alternatives to what you eat now. For example if you love pancakes look for whole grain alternatives and healthy topping like fruit, yogurt, flavored natural apple sauce. Keep fresh fruits and veggies cut up in the frig for easy access.

Workout 5-6 days a week. 3 days a week weight training. Not consecutive days and 5-6 days of mixed up cardio or other heart pumping activities. HIIT training is excellent for fat loss. http://nutrition.suite101.com/article.cfm/cle an_eating_basics

Keep active in your everyday life. Don't lay around, take the long way, walk, park in the spot furthest away from the door, stand instead of sit. Just little changes add up.

Drink plenty of water throughout the day. Before and during each meal.

Wow.. omg Thanks!

First you need to educate yourself as to what is and is not healthy eating.  I suggest the book "The Healthy Heart Miracle" by Dr. Gabe Mirkin.  It's not about a diet, it's not a fad, it's just a common sense guide to healthy eating the rest of your life.  If you buy this book and follow his suggestions, your life will turn around 180 degrees.

Second, "fast and easy" is generally what got you into trouble in the first place.  Healthy eating takes some time because you will end up spending time preparing your own food as opposed to eating packaged and prepared foods.   You love to cook so that shouldn't be a problem for you.  Learn how to can foods, which is fairly easy and simple and you can make your own soups and stews that are nutritious, filling and low in calories and last for months or years in storage.

Third, you have to learn how to sort through the "crap" you are fed on the internet and in books, on television etc., from people that are trying to sell you stuff.   95% of what you will hear or read is crap.   There is no alternative to eating whole, unprocessed foods that will work as well to keep you healthy.  Every bite you take of food that was processed in a factory, replaces one bite of healthy, nutrition laden, real food.   Every bite is a lost opportunity to fuel your body's immune system.  Every bite is a lost opportunity to gain valuable nutrients to build muscle, bones, healthy skin, efficient working organs etc.  There is nothing that comes out of a factory that is as good for you as whole food.
