any advice?
my ed recovery is going really well. i've basically been anorexia and bulimia-free singe last august, and my overall mentality is much healthier.
the only problem i have left is binging, which is getting more stable, but it's still an issue. i workout every other day (elliptical for 30 minutes, weights for 30 minutes), and i'll be fine.. but every non-workout day, i end up binging. i don't really gain any weight from it, but i want to lose weight, and this is just an unhealthy cycle.
can anyone give me any mental, emotional, or physical tips on how to avoid binging on my non-workout days?
I've found that consuming something hot always helps. Otherwise, just go out and take a long walk until you have stuff to do.
When I feel a binge coming on, I pour myself 8 oz of water and force myself to drink it. Then I go for protein - egg whites, lean chicken, or a protein shake - whether I "feel" like eating it or not. If I still feel the need for something more, I will make a sandwich with whole grain bread and peanut butter. After that, I'm so full I really don't feel any remaining need to binge.
maybe spacing out your workouts like the 30 mins of cardio today and 30 mins of weights tomarow and switch off everyday so your just splitting up your workouts so your doing something everyday and maybe that would prevent it. Also i would suggest keeping food out of sight. Dont keep anything setting out...make sure everything is either in the fridge or a closed cabinet. Keep yourself busy and distracted....listen to music, take a walk, read a book, sew something?? any activity to distract you from the thought of food really.
also, think about the reasons why you are binging.....are you bored, sad, tired....are you eating enough throughout the day?? you said you are trying to loose wieght so maybe your calories are a little short and this is making your body want food and it makes you unable to control yourself. Maybe try adding a few more snack...little ones are fine.
