Hey

I am a 19 year old college student. I already went through my freshman fifteen phase and over the summer was able to lose about half of it and I was happy. Now 3 months back in I weigh 20 lbs more than I did a year ago. Weight has never been my issue, I was always underweight so the freshman fifteen brought me to a weight of 115 lbs which I could accept. Now suddenly i am 126 lbs and suffering a ton from self esteem issues. I work out about 3 times a week and have always been watching what I eat.

What can I do to get closer to 115, because everytime I weigh myself it seems I've gained another lb?

how tall are you?

126 may be an appropriate weight depending on your height. You are just now getting to the point where you are done growing. Don't expect to weigh the same as you did in high school. Our bodies change. How tall are you?

Don't go so much by the scale. I rarely weigh myself. Go by how you look and feel. What is your diet like? Calories a day, what kind of foods are you eating, what are you drinking?

i am 5'7

i realize my body changing and the weight doesnt bother me if it was distributed better...its all love handles and stomach now. any recommended exercises? all i do is run a lot and crunches and it does nothing for me. i try to eat around 1600 calories a day. a lot of salads (its hard to eat meat at my college) rice cakes and fruit for snacks and i drink tons of water with an occasional diet soda. i am not sure what else to do or what else i can eat/do for a workout.

Loosing fat is about what you are eating and how much. Diet products that contain artificial sweeteners can wreak havoc on your blood sugar/insulin and can cause weight gain. It is best to avoid diet, fat free, sugar free foods and go for whole foods instead. Simple carbs should also be limited. Eat more complex carbs and whole grains, whole grain breads, pastas, rice, cereal. You must have healthy fats. If you are not getting enough you need to find a way to get more. Try cans of tuna and salmon, natural peanut butter, nuts, cottage cheese, yogurt, beans, fish, chicken, lowfat cheese. Instead of fruit snacks which contain very little fruit buy fresh fruit and vegetables. Highly processed foods and foods with a lot of preservatives will not aid in weight loss and are just not healthy in general.

Interval training, weight lifting/strength training and HIIT are all excellent for fat loss. The more muscle you have the faster your metabolism will be and you will burn more calories.
