okay, here's my problem...I weigh 141.5, that's 99.5 down from 241 at the beginning of Jan. 07.  I want to lose about 15 more lbs to get to about 127, with a healthy bmi of 24.8 if I reach this.  I am just about 32 and my height is 5'0.  So this all sounds reasonable I assume??  I comsume about 1300-1400calories a day and exercise at least 5-6 times a week, nothing crazy, I've done everything sensible.  Here's is the actual problem...everyone, i mean everyone I know has been driving me absolutely crazy saying I need to stop losing weight, that I look fantastic the way I am now.  Okay, I think it's great everyone is complimenting me, but really, I do feel I need to lose a little more and what's wrong with that??  I gave myself a realistic goal to lose this last 15lbs by the middle of next year.  So really, what is wrong with wanting to lose a little more, should it be so bad??

no!  Do what is going to make you happy!  You have a goal, and you should stick to it.  You are doing this for yourself, not others!  It is annoying when people say this constantly...it is also annoying when people insist you dont need to lose weight when you KNOW you do (i find myself in this situation).  I would politely tell people that you are happy with the progress you have made so far, and once you reach your goal you will be satisfied.  I would also say something about how you count on them for support and appreciate it.

I totally agree...

They are your personal goals, and I think your achieving them in a healthy, educated way.  Also, you have changed your lifestyle, and what you accomplished was not a "diet".  By continuing your attitude you'll insure yourself that you live a healthy life for years to come.  Remember, even the closest friends can be jealous, and don't let that interfere.  Keep up the good work.

I can totally relate. My friends also say the same to me. But this is a lifestyle choice. It's to improve my quality of life, not just to have a svelt body.
It's not like you'll start eating more than your current calorie budget once you'll reach your target weight.
What I reply to my friends and family is this: I watch the calories to prolong my life, slow aging and improve the quality of life.  Being thin is just a superficial bonus.
No one in their right minds will tell you to stop eating healthy after this. If they do, then you know the state of their minds. It's pretty much set.
cheers,

I completely agree with what everyone has said here. I, too, get the same comments. I have lost 33.4 kg and have another 4.1 kg as my goal (which will put me at a healthy BMI of 24.6, so I know that I still really do have more to go and it's not my imagination). I tell people that I am eating extremely healthy foods and doing good exercise. I think part of people saying this is that they are still comparing the 'new you' with the 'older you' - and since the difference is so dramatic, they think you should stop.

Continue to doing what is healthy and thank them for their support. You have done an amazing job in a very, very healthy manner. You must feel wonderful about this.

I, too, agree with what everyone has said, but also, you have to understand that you have lost a significant amount of weight so your friends don't know what your perfect weight looks like - compared to what you were I'm sure you do look amazing and drastically different!  They haven't seen your collarbone, your jawline, your new shape for long enough to adjust to it. It sounds like you have made very healthy and wise choices so it isn't for them to decide.

The other thing that you might be dealing with is a bit of jealousy?  Let's face it, most people we all know would love to lose 15 lbs. but they don't.  Then here you come, the "big" one, and you are going to more in shape than they are?  It can be a little hard to take.  Just stick to your goals.  Only you know what's best for you.

What an inspiration you are!  Congratulations...I very much agree with everyone else.  You have taken an objective look and realized that the next 15 pounds are a perfectly reasonable amount to lose and stayhealthy and you should go for it without any guilt.
