hi all,

I just have a quick question.  Hubby and i went off birth control about 3 weeks ago and we've just been using condoms were planning on having another baby but we weren't going to start trying until late May or June.  when I was working out today my breasts were really tender and hurting, this hasn't happened with prior workouts, I've alos noticed that the're tender and a bit bigger.  When we had sex 2-3 weeks ago, It was the day before I got my period he did **** in me but we thought it would be ok since I was getting my period and the other pills were still working.  Anyways is it possible I  could be pregnant, I think its too early to test, and Im a little worried. Any advice or suggestions would be appreciated. thanks

um im married too and i am on the pill.  like a day after i got off the P me and my husband had sex and i missed a day of the white pill so i think your ok. i BELEIVE it takes a couple days for the pill not to work anymore, im not completely sure... but anyway, i have had a few scares occassionally and really thought i was pregnant! it was either my boobs were feeling tender, or i had a weird ache in my stomach, etc but they were all false alarms. i think i just exagerated what my body was feeling and got paranoid.

maybe what your feeling is from going off the pills? give it awhile and take a pregnancy test, thats what i do if im really paranoid! lol

hope this helps. Smile

Could just be the change in hormones with coming off the pill.  In theory, the pill stops you from ovulating, so the period you got right after the pill finished was a fake one (no egg).  Now, in theory if you are a short ovulator (like ovulate day 8 because your cycle is short, you could be pregnant.  However, the majority of people ovulate day 10-21 and sperm can't live that long in the body.  I think you're safe, but you could be one of the rare.  Chock it up to a change in hormones until you miss your next period - but even then, test to be sure.  When I came off the pill it took me 65 days to get a period and I wasn't pregnant.

Long explanation and no idea if it puts your mind at ease or makes things worse.  Just thought you should know - it's probably a false alarm.  Don't stress, it will just make the waiting game harder.

Girl above has it right... plus if your period was three weeks ago, then you are right on time for a bit of PMS.  It takes a while for your hormones to settle down after getting off the pill and reregulate.  Sore breasts, worse than usual PMS, acne... these can all be delicious treats of non-pill cycles, especially if you had them before you went on the pill.

All that being said-- some people find it very very easy to get pregnant in the first 1-3 cycles after coming off the pill, particularily those who have problems ovulating on their own appropriately.  So be careful if you are not intending to start "trying" right now.  You may want to look into a diaphram as well as using a condom or some other barrier method.

Thanks Everyone! I think I will wait and test.  The other night while in the shower my left boob leaked a bit when I squeezed it this has never happened since I stopped breastfeeding 1 yr. ago.  And last night while hubby and I were "fooling around" he couldn't even get near my boobs they hurt and were too tender, especially my nipples (sorry TMI!).  I'm not sure whats going on. But in the slight chance I am pregnant is it ok to still workout I worry about my "fat" shaking on my belly as a risk of hurting the baby or detaching it from the uterus? :S probably a silly question, but better to know than not! thanks

You are most likely having PMS symptoms; and not being on the pill can make your symptoms worse.  Although; I was on the pill for 8 years, missed two pills and BAM....Julia came 9 months later.  It could happen.  You can workout though; I worked out for 4 weeks b/c I didn't even know I was pregnant-  and at the time I was a hard core cardio-licious gym rat.  Just take a test when it's time; don't panic.  But to be on the safe side; make sure you take your vitamins with Folic Acid.

Unless you are doing mixed martial arts or something like that then you should be able to exercise. I played soccer for a few weeks before I found out I was preggers.

@meagang -- the breasts leaking, isn't too unusual.  I haven't breastfed in over 25 years, and mine still leak when "stimulated".  I asked my doctor (GYNO) about it when they never seemed to completely dry up, and she said it was nothing to worry about.  Probably TMI here -- actually she said as long as the leakage wasn't greenish or puss like, and they weren't hot/red/infected.

As for working out.  Unless you're doing something like boxing where you might get hit hard in the belly.... don't worry about it.  Most doctors will tell you that it's okay to continue exercising during pregnancy. If you are preggers -- just pay attention to your body and don't push yourself too hard.
