Advice needed...Should I tell him or let him surprise me?**Update...Party was great!**
Here's the situation. Wednesday was my birthday and since it was a work night we didn't do anything. He said he was taking me someplace special Saturday night. So last night a friend of mine calls up and invites me for a couple of drinks Saturday afternoon. She says that she has to babysit her grandchildren and has to be back by 7:30. Hubby says as long as I can be ready for this big date by 8:00. The thing is, this particular friend has never taken me out for drinks for my birthday in all the years I've known her and hubby has been doing stuff around that house with a fury and a lot of it is household stuff I've been begging him to do for year, but suddenly it's a big rush to get it done. I think there's a surprise party in the works, don't you? Should I tell him I suspect or let him surprise me? I'm leaning toward letting this surprise happen and acting surprised. Would you?
EDITED TO ADD:
The surprise party went off without a hitch and I did the suprised bit. A good time was had by all!
Let him surprise you. Surprises are more fun for the people planning them than the person they are for, and as long as you aren't against the party, just let him feel sneaky :)
SURPRISE!
Definitely let him surprise you. If, indeed, there is a party in the works, he's put in a lot of time and effort to make it great for you. Don't ruin it for him. Just have a good time!
That's what I was thinking. Thanks for reinforcing it!
SUPPLIES!!!
oops.
Agree with the others. And don't be too disappointed if it isn't a surprise party!
If it is, give him a big kiss and, if you must, say "so that's why you were cleaning the house!".
Think of it this way, at least you know to dress nicely! Practise your "oh you shouldn't haves" in the mirror and enjoy that someone adores you enough to go to this effort. :)
I agree, just act surprised. He's going through so much effort. Hope he doesn't read CC though.

That reminds me that I've got to fax in my order for office supplies before I leave today.
**Going to the ladies room to practice my surprised face**
Whatever he does will be great because he's a wonderful husband. I am truly blessed in the spouse department.
CC--No, he know that I use this site but he never comes on here that I know of.
Definitely let him surprise you...if it's not a surprise party, perhaps he has an even better surprise in store for you. ![]()
I certainly wouldn't mind a more private celebration either! ![]()
That will be the AFTER party. ![]()
It will be a Surprise! In group or with each other you will be having a party. Don't be late!!
I am such a sicko... My first thought is to rig up a counter surprise.
when your friend takes you from drinks to the party say your last drink is really going to your head and act suuuuuuuuuuuper drunk when you come in, slur something incomprehensible, and "pass out" on the floor. Then when they come to your side roll over clear-eyed and yell DOUBLE SURPRISE!!!!!
Better idea to just let him have his fun though. What a sweet bf!

heehe what a hilarious idea!
but really, i say let him surprise you for sure! what a sweet hubby you have :)
I'm in the "Let your Husband surprise you" camp. :) Even if it isn't entirely a surprise, it's VERY sweet of him. :)
Then I'm also in the "show your husband how much you appreciate his thoughtfulness" camp as well ;)
last year my sis/mom/friend threw me a surprise party....I figured it out a few weeks in advance, but I never said anything! afterwards (months later) my sis asked if I suspected and I said I did a lil, but I was so glad everyone wen thtrough the trouble!
