CONGRATULATIONS :)
I've never been pregnant before but I'd say this is definitely something you would want to consult your doctor about. Every body is different and handles this in different ways so advice here may not necessarily apply to you :)
I did read in a magazine though that you need 300 extra calories a day for pregnancy, 500 for breastfeeding... but, again, check with your doc :)
best of luck to you and your baby!!

Here's some information I just dug up:
Pregnancy and calories: How many calories are needed?
Basically, you need an extra 300 calories each day during the last 6 months of pregnancy. You should probably consult with your doctor and figure out what you need to know about the running.
Let us know what you find out!

From what I understand, running is OK during the first two trimesters, but don't make it too strenuous, i.e. don't let yourself get winded.
You need 300 cals extra after the first trimester, and you need to make sure you are getting enough nutrition. Your doctor might tell you that you don't need more calcium. This is not true. He is right inasmuch as your baby's bones will develop just fine even if you don't ingest extra calcium, and your blood calcium levels won't be affected, but this is because your bone tissue will be degraded to keep your levels steady and build the baby's bones. Women with children have measurably weaker bones than women without children, and the more children the weaker the bones. A little extra calcium after 18 weeks of pregnancy will help minimize this effect. This is often covered by the pregnancy vitamins. :)

i am going to need calcium from somewhere b/c i do not really do any dairy..hurts tummy!
I love the caramel calcium chews - they taste pretty good actually, like candy that's good for you. Most days, I have two of those and four of the gummi bear vitamins for kids... :) (kids dose is 2, adults is 4)
