Advice on takeaway indian curries

Quote  |  Reply

I love Indian curries and dont usually have time to make them at home. Curries are the thing I miss most  ! So does anybody think it is ok to have a takeaway curry occassionally for a treat? Do they have more calories than other takeaways like chinese foods etc? All that oil would make me think they definitely do !!

hi there,

indian def has more cals than chinese but if you were to order have a dry chicken tikka no sauce, boiled rice, chappati(no butter on it) and plenty of salad (if you need a sauce then order rita its yogurt, mint and cucumber) thats prob the lowest cal thing you could order. i would say that your cal content in this meal would be less than 600cals (this is just a guess though).  all i can say is that i use to work in an indian restaurant for 5 years and the amount of oils and butters that they use in cooking is VERY high, so i would def go easy on the indian take outs

good luck xxxxx
