Advise on affordable tread mill for home

Quote  |  Reply
My stepmother has graciously given me $1000 towards a treadmill. I want to buy the best one I can for the money. I believe there is set up and delivery charges too but I'm not sure how much. I really like to walk and run on it. I don't need anything really really fancy. I'm just trying to get a good treadmill that will last awhile and not cost me an arm and a let.

Suggestions?

I would do a search on the internet.  Just type in treadmill reviews or something like that and it will give you a list and you can go from there!  I also think that they do reviews on different amounts so you can compare the ones in your price range for what you would like to use it for.  Hope that helps.
I was doing some internet research, very overwhelming. I will continue to do so, I just thought CC peeps might have some good insights.  Thanks.
I am not sure what to suggest, I am looking for a new treadmill myself.  But I can make a suggestion about what treadmill did not work out for me - Proform brand.  The motor on mine gave out before the treadmill was two years old.  A friend of mine had a Proform also and the clip that holds the belt in place broke.  Not sure how old that one was.  But I personally felt like mine should have lasted more that two years.  So be careful, read reviews from consumers as well as the products own endorsements :)
The frame on my proform bent and was non repairable after only 4 months of steady use.  I got a Nordic Track replacement at the $799 price point.  It was on sale for $699 and is tons better.  The motor is quieter and the frame is really solid.

It seemed that once I looked at treadmills under the $800 price point they began to get cheap either the motor was weak or the frame was less than sturdy.  I hope that helps.
Great information all. Maybe I should have said, "what treadmill don't you like". :) I have seen a lot of advertising for Proform too. Great to know.  I'll keep searching.
