What do you advise for fibromyalagia and weight loss?
Asked by anonymous on Oct 28, 2009 in Health Conditions

Answer

Fibromyalgia is a syndrome accompanied by muscle and joint pain, overwhelming fatigue, and an array of symptoms that won't quit.  It tends to cause gain weight due to inactivity, lack of sleep, hormonal changes, and to medication side-effects.  Although some practitioners advise patients to avoid aspartame, MSG, food additives, chocolate, carbonated beverages, coffee, alcohol, sugar, white flour, salt, and/or high fat foods, there's little scientific evidence to support food-based treatments.  A few small studies showed a reduction in symptoms on a vegetarian diets consisting mostly of raw foods.  Omega 3 fatty acids in fish oil may help to relieve inflammation. To lose weight, eat a balanced diet with no fewer than 1200 calories and 65 grams of protein a day.
