Aerodyne Bike

Quote  |  Reply

Would you consider 60 minutes at 14 MPG on the aerodyne a good workout?  I do this 6 times and week in additional to a 30-35 minuite brisk walk about 4 times per week.  I also do the Curves Circuit 4x a week going around 3 times.  Would I be considered a light or moderate workout category?

i don't know what an aerodyne bike is (i don't use machines), but any time you're doing the same workout daily or almost daily, it's going to become less effective.  your body gets very efficient at doing that particular exercise, so you'll use less energy doing it.

but by most measures, an hour of exercise a day is considered "very active."

Thanks for the input.  An Aerodyne Bike is made by Schwinn and it also uses your arms.  I could only do it for 5 minutes when I first started it.  I guess the rehabilitate heart patients with this bike.

I have an aerodyne bike too...it's air resistance, I thought it was "too easy" but the harder you pedal, the more resistance you create. It IS good cardio..(I should use mine btw) Try an elliptical sometime if you can as well...I love them, and alternate between bicycle riding outdoors, running on a treadmill and the elliptical. A great motivator for me to keep moving is music. Have fun !

Thanks for the reply.  This morning I rode 18 miles about 1 hour and 15 mins.  I tend to go about 14 MPH.  It says I burned over 500 calories, I hope so.  But was I hungry after I showered and got ready for work!  It is a good thing I premade some Steelcut Oatmeal or I would have ate anything I could get my hands on.
