afraid of bulimia please help
well since the middle of summer i set a goal to loose fat i was 125 lb 5"2 and 14 year old I first lost about 7 pounds (i haven't weighted myself in about 3 weeks) I was seeing the difference in my body since I was exercising more and eating a lot healthier since before I would eat whatever without worrying about the nutritional value I was a BIG fan of cakes breads ice creams etc.. but since I decided to be healthier and change this summer I begun to exercise and by about 3 weeks I was seeing the difference I had a lot more energy and each time I could do more I also begun to eat healthier food and it seemed so easy to me I couldn't see why people where so worried about trying to loose weight since then it seemed so easy to not have all the sweets and eat healthier I was like that for about 3 weeks but each time I started craving the old food I was used to having and sometimes I would have small portion but of course not brownies or fatty breads or anything extremely bad I would just have some french bread or corn bread or a little more for dinner than I was usually having it was still the same food but I started craving for more and after I ate the stuff I felt terribly bad I felt ashamed I felt bad.. so just recently like about 2 weeks ago I decided to have a big slice of corn bread at night and afterwards I felt terrible so I threw it up and I felt so satisfied at first so this past week I've been eating more (still healthy but bigger portions) and throwing up afterwards not everything but about half of what I ate and now I just feel I can't stop I know is bad but ugh and I'm trying to stop throwing up but now my body asks for more food than before and I can't help but think to throw up. Please help me I'm afraid.
trust me, you don't wanna be doing that.
when you throw up, you ruin the enamel of your teeth and you may even end up losing some of your teeth.
also, your face swells up after throwing up for a long period of time. if you want to lose weight and look thinner, getting a swollen face isn't the way to go.
your glands get swolen, your throat constantly hurts, you have a hard time keeping anything down, you're constantly dehydrated, and there's many more downsides.
i know it's hard to stop (i've been where you are).. but it'll really be for your benefit if you do.
if you're going to feel guilty about eating bigger portions and more unhealthy foods, maybe refrain from doing it for awhile.. until you know you can handle it. just eat when you're hungry and stop when you're full. if you get the urge to purge, phone a friend or go for a walk.
good luck.
Persoanlly if i were you i would talk to someone about your problem. They may be able to help you. Can you talk to you mum or family member?
You are a growing young lady and if your body is hungry then feed it. You are doing everything possible to be healthy. You are having the right foods and exercising regulary. Keep up that good work!! but please - next time you go to be sick - think about it! Its not the route you want to go down......trust me!
Good luck xxx
I had a couple of friends who threw up in highschool and they're both way overwieght now. They both ruined their metabolisms and they can't lose weight at all.
I would suggest giving yourself a cheat day during the week when you can eat whatever you want, and you won't have to feel guilty about it because you will have eaten well the other six days of the week.
Are you sure you're getting enough to eat? As a 14 year old you are still growing and you should be eating at least 1800 cals/day. Use google to find a kid's nutrition calculator and figure out how much you need. Often when we have cravings it is because our bodies are missing out on important nutrients.
What type of food should not be eaten?
Calorie Count does not prescribe a particular diet or tell people to avoid particular foods. We only ask that you eat a balanced diet... Read more
