I eat Breakfast... I have a snack... I eat Lunch .... then i get the munchies... Im not hungry... I just feel the need to munch... I keep some of those 100cal snacky things in my office... but in the last few days I have been eating far too many of them to be considered just a snack. typically after work I would have a snack.... then eat supper.... then nothing till the next morning ( I am trying not to eat after 7pm) is anyone else feeling the afternoon urge to munch!? Or does anyone have a solution to this... I dont want my entire days worth of calories to be high just because i have the munchies!

if the 100 cal snacky things you speak of are those 100 calorie bags of chips etc... i would recommend finding a healthier snack.  to me those chips just seem like a total tease, more like a 'bet you can't eat just one' thing.. i wouldn't be able to stop if i had one bag of them, tasty tasty chip goodness

carrots, cucumber, celery, veg, fruit etc cut into pieces = good snack IMO.

I eat two apples in the afternoon while at work.  This also helps me to keep a check on how much I eat at dinner.  I have the munchies all the time....I eat a lot of apples! :-P

Actually they are the thinsations oreo bites (apparently chocolate is my new craving!) Yeah i see what you mean... I think thats exactly what is happening (AHHHHH.... its the lays commercial "bet ya cant eat just one") I started cutting my carrots differently just today.... in circles so the resemble chips! hehehe I know Im a geek but thought it might help!

Thanks for the tips! I think Ill remove those snacks from my office all together to avoid the temptation!

Apples also a good suggestion! Thanks

yeah i have a major problem with snacking so inbetween meals if i'm really trying to 'go the distance' i chew gum or eat fruit/veg.  i find that popcorn is a good low-calorie treat too if you can keep yourself from inhaling your portion :P

once you have any sugar at all you will CRAAAVE more, hee, trust me.

i have the munchies all the time.  I have started to prepare ziplock baggies or instant oats at home and just microwaving them at work and eating that.  In each bag I put 1/2 cup dry instant oats, some cinnamon, nutmeg, allspice and salt to make it less bland.  I don't add any sort of sweetner on purpose so that I'm not tempted to eat more since I LOVE sweet things.  If you are craving chocolate, you can also add some cocao powder to the oatmeal making it chocolaty.

I also bring baby carrots which I cut up in half to give myself the illusion that there is more of them.  And I also keep a 32oz water bottle on my desk and keep drinking water throughout the day, which kind of helps with the munchies.

tea & sugar-free gum.

my two saviors!!

I am a huge snacker and it was a PROBLEM. I changed my eating pattern during the work week. Here is what I do:

Breakfast - I make it at home and bring it to work - that way I have something to eat as soon as I sit at my desk. I usually have an egg wrap (1/2 cup egg beaters with veggies in a 90 calorie wrap) and dannon yogurt --> 260 cals

Snack #1 - I usually have some type of 100 calorie chip bag around 11 or 1130

Lunch #1 - A boca burger or amys' burger (something around 90 or 100 cals) on one piece of wheat toast with some mustard around 1230 or 1 -->160 cals

Snack #2 - Fruit around 2 -->100 cals

Lunch #2 - around 3 or 4pm Amy's frozen burrito/Microwavable soup/Turkey Sandwich/1TBSP Peanut Butter on a 100 cal english muffin --> 200 or 250 cals

Dinner - lately it's been a turkey burger on a 100 cal english muffin but just anything that is between 200 and 300 calories

usually I'm fine until I go to bed but if i need something I either have yogurt or an apple or some 94% fat free popcorn

I don't know what your calorie intake needs to be but I have found that eating all day keeps my snack cravings at a minimum. For me, if works isn't crazy busy, I end up thinking about food and wanting to snack at work all day. Since I know I have things to eat (and planned out) every one or two hours I am always satisfied. One other thing I forgot to mention is that I do not keep any extra food at my desk or in the office other than what is planned out for the day - otherwise I end up eating it. Hopefully this is helpful!

If you have a snack of nuts, replace them with either pumpkin or sunflower seeds, hulled, lightly roasted. 2 ounces last me anywhere between 1 and 1.5 hours, because of all the peeling, and besides being fun it`s super duper healthy!
