Sue ~ I am so sorry to hear the news about your mom.  My mom had Breast Cancer and has gone thru Chemo then just finished her radiation treatments. She ened up with really bad burns from that and of course, lost all her hair from the chemo.  But she's been positive thru it all and that helps with us staying positive that it won't come back.  So keeping our fingers crossed for the next 5 yrs.  Hope your mom can keep her spirits up.  That's so important.

Now my weight.....ready for this????

I weighed in at 186 today.  Down 2 lbs.  I'm happy to see that, even though disappointed I even see that number again. I told myself months ago I wouldn't let myself hit 180 again and now I'm close to 190!  What happened to me????  Just a question to myself.  I gained 18 lbs back.  It was so easy to do. Now I have to struggle to get it back off...........AGAIN!!!!

Anyways, I'm really trying now and even held back from the donuts in my kitchen.  Yeah, 2 dozen donuts from Krispy Kreme! I'm not eating at night, I did eat Cauliflower last night though.  Veggies are good anytime. ;)  It's tough not eating at night.  That's my problem, I know it.  I want junk at night.  Chips, cookies, donuts, anything loaded with sugar.  I have gotten back to what I was doing in the beginning and I feel so much better for it.

Connie ~ Hope ya got that Bathroom fixed.  I went thru that when the valve on the shut off valve under the toilet broke!  Water everywhere!!!  It happened in the middle of the night, so the bathroom flooded and the hallway!  It was awful!

Have a nice weekend everyone!  We should be getting some severe thunderstorms with high winds this evening.  That's something to look forward to, isn't it? LOL

Hi Girls! Just back from an overnight with Bobby....good time....very needed...stress is down....weight i up....bathroom fixed!!!!

Sue I will definitely keep your Mom in my prayers. It is a very stressful  time and I think so many of us on here can completely relate to what your Mom and your family are going through. Good thoughts and hugs coming your way!!!Innocent

Tammy- are you still doing the Ali? I do know exactly what you mean about the sweets at night. Bobby (meaning no harm) KEEPS buying me cheesecakes.....and yes I am eating them.....no self control at all where a cheesecake is yelling at me from the fridge!!!! LOL

Hope to her from "the others" SOON!

Take care everyone!  ConnieKiss

Connie~ I had run out of the Alli and just bought some more.  It helps to lose weight, just concerned that when I didn't take it, the weight piled on like crazy!  I guess when I ran out I didn't eat as low fat as I should've.  My bad! Anyways, I've lost a few pounds now even before taking the Alli again.  I'm just going to take it before a high fat meal.  I usually eat low fat most of the time anyways.  And you have to eat at least 15 grams of fat in one meal to take it. I'll take it before going out to eat to help me control my portion sizes.

I know what you mean about cheesecake.  It's my fav!  ;)  There hasn't been any in this house in a long while.  I think the last time I te some was around Thanksgiving. LOL

About me:  I'm down to 185 lbs now.  Down from 188 alittle over a week ago. So I'm doing well.  About time!  ;)  I feel good with how I'm handling this.  It's a real eyeopener to gain so much weight back after trying so hard to get to 170.  I was 10 lbs away from my goal and I completely blew it!  But I won't dwell on it.  I won't let myself.  It's time to get down to business. And I WILL GET IT DONE!!!!  ;)

Hello ladies,

I'm checking in in the hope that logging my weight today and reading up on your adventures will get me back on track.  After losing 10lbs and almost getting back to my 'normal' self, I fell off the wagon a little.  My diet and exercise routine took a hit to the head after I met a very nice man while out walking and who has since taken me to dinner several times.  After a whirlwind few weeks I finally stepped on the scales this morning to find I've gained 4lbs - almost half of my weight loss so far!

I'm sure this is just a blip and some of it is water retention, but I have my family coming over on vacation in 2 weeks time and I was really hoping to have left myself a little room for expansion by then as I'm sure to be savouring the cuisine around Korea while they're here.  Oh well, I can always start again in September!

Hi All

Happy belated birthday Connie - sorry I missed the day - glad you had a great weekend with Bobby! He sounds like a dream.

Sue, I am so sorry about your mom. I will keep both of you in my prayers. I guess we are at the age where we are worrying about aging parents. Mine are moving in with us.

Tammy how are you doing with the Alli. Sounds like it is working well for you. I have been eating like crazy - stress does that to me - and I'm at my heaviest weight ever - too embarrassed to share the number. I need to get back on track, this forum was really helping. I need to do this.

We have some new members since I last posted, welcome.I'll get back this week and catch up on all the posts - it appears many are busy - hope they are enjoying a good summer.

I hope everyone has a great week.

Adara

Sue please keep us updated.  I remember when my mom was originally diagnosed with breast cancer and it freaked me out.  She came though all of that fine.  We don't know what is going on with her now because she won't be test.  I think she is getting used to the nurse and aid coming out a few times a week but I know that it hard for her.  I'll pray for your mom and you and I hope it turns out to be nothing.

Connie LOL  You always cheer me up.  My regular doctor told me IBS too but so far I'm not so sure about that so that's why I'm researching further.

Daryl I'm sure most of us have went up and down and up and down.  It's just hard to lose weight and maintain but it can be done.  As soon as I find out how I'll let all of ya'll know. LOL  Seriously we are all here for you.

Hi Adarana How have you been?

Just checking in....and kind of need to vent....have been feeling stressed lately as we are currently in the middle of trying to sort out a dental specialist in the US for my daughter who is going to need of some major work due to an underlying health issue.  On top of that, she had her annual physical today and the doctor heard a "bit of a murmur" so we now have an appt for an echo test next week!!!  Trying very hard to stay calm and keep my blood pressure down - not easy!  I have googled heart murmurs and whilst it says the majority are "innocent", it still gives me cause for concern.  The kid has enough other stuff going on right now, without adding more problems.

Hope you are all doing okay?!

On the 12th I weighed 185 and I'm still holding there.  I guess it's better than gaining.  I wish this weight would just melt off.  Like when I was in my 20's.  My daughter can lose 10 lbs in a week and I'm lucky to get 1 lb.  :(  Very disappointing.  I'm walking pretty consistently and I want the payoff. Ya know?

This guy that my hubs works with offered him a house.  It's really nice and renovated too.  He gave us a CD to look at and I liked it.  We wouldn't sell this house, maybe rent it out.  The market sucks and I'm not up to challenging it right now.  The house is an older home with character.  I love the woodwork and archways.  I'd rather live in an older home than this new one.  No character whatsoever. :(

Made my son his appt to get his wisdom teeth pulled.  He is not happy.  He asked me what did ppl do before dentists? LOL  He just don't get it.  I told him he needs to have them pulled so his pefect teeth don't become crooked again. I have the X-Rays and offered him to look at them so he could maybe understand.  But he wouldn't look at it.   Sept 3rd is the big day.

Nothing else is new.  Chat with ya all later!

Suz certainly lots of reasons to be stressed.  I hope everything turns out well.  My stepson and my niece's ex husband had murmurs.  My stepson ran track and it has never caused him a problem.  I think the ex had some problems but nothing terrible to deal with.  Make sure to tell the dentist because she'll probably need antibotics before the procedure.  My stepson had to take them even for a cleaning.  I don't remember the entire reason but the dentist can tell you.

Tammy  Offered a house????  Like he's giving it to you?  Boy I need a coworker/friend like that.

If you have any heart issues, or a family history of heart issues (whether you've manifested any yet or not) dentists will generally prescribe antibiotics before any procedure where there may be bleeding.

Why?  Because your mouth is a dirty place, sad to say, full of bacteria.  Some of them are regular members of the crowd that shares your body - but they are meant to stay out of your bloodstream.  If they get in, they could cause damage to your heart, in the muscle itself or its valves.  This could lead to cardiomyopathy and/or congestive heart failure.

Why do I know all this?  Because I've had to take prophylactic antibiotics before root canals for years, due to the high levels of heart disease in the family.  They're taking no chances.

Lucy ~ No, he's not giving it to us.  That would be nice, but no.  He's letting us get first dibs on it.  He wants us to buy it.  He's turned down others already and told my hubby that he knows we would take care of it and all that.  So, I'm gonna go tomorrow (well, today now!) and drive there to take a peek at it.  See if I like it in person.  I showed the kids the house on the CD and they like it.  My son would have to change school districts though.  So I'm giving him some time to think about that.  If he doesn't want to do it, then we'll pass on the house.  No biggie.  He has 2 more yrs of school and we can move after he graduates.

Wel, I'm off to bed now.  :)

Wow  - i think it's been a week since I've posted. First of all, thank you so very much for all your prayers, good wishes, kind words and understanding. We are still very much in the thick of it with my mom. There has been some bad news, but today, we got some better (not "good") news. So, I am grateful to God for the peace He brought me today and grateful to all of you for your support. I know, it is that time of life that we deal with our parents' health issues, and so many friends have already lost parents that I should concentrate on the blessing of still having both my Mom and Dad around. I'll keep you all posted. I take my mom to another specialist (thoracic surgeon) next week.

Suz - sorry to hear about your daughter's possible murmur. My son has 3 completely innocent murmurs. He's had them since infancy. I remember trying to get an echocardiogram on a 9 month old! My prayers are now sent back to you.

I hope everyone else is well. It seems that some of us are doing well with weight loss and others not so well. I'm probably in the "not" category, but trying to get back to it. I am a stress eater - so you know what that has meant for this past week.

Glad to read all of your posts - thinking about you all. We are taking a quick weekend away to my parents' cabin up north (just my family, not mom and dad, this time) and I am looking forward to that. It is 115* here and miserable.

Again, my most sincere thanks for all of your support. Have a wonderful weekend. Hello to all, and where are some of our missing members?  Aly?????

Sue

Hi Sue I'm so sorry about your mom having to go though this.  My mom is on hospice now because she has been doing so bad lately.  It's truly a heartbreaking time and I know exactly how you feel.  Here's a BIG CYBER HUG for you.

Tammy  Let us know how the house deal goes.

Axe  I didn't realize it was just heart disease too.  I'll have to ask my dentist cause my mom's family is racked with heart disease.

I'm having some weird health issues.  I'm wondering if I have a problem with Gluten so I'm trying to go gluten free.  The intestinal problems cotinue, my feet have been swollen for 3 days, and my joints hurt.  I'm going to a new GI on July 31st since the other one doesn't want to spend 5 seconds with you after you wait for 4 hours to see him.  I called the nurse on Wednesday just to see if I have ever been tested for Celiac disease during my many previous test and still have not received a call back.  I'll go next week and get a copy of my records so I guess I'll find out then.  What a pain.

I'm having another open house tomorrow but now I'm not sure I even want to sell.  Just seems like there is always too much to deal with.

Love you my friends.  Have a great weekend.

We've passed on the house.  I know....  But it's not just what we want.  So we are going to look at some homes and see what we can find.  We want a different area of town and we want alittle more yard than this one has.  We're thinking of grandkids in the yard. LOL  We want to live in the next house forever.  No more moving!

Lucy, sorry to hear about your mom.  I still have both of my parents and I just dread the day when they leave us.  I hate even thinking of it. Hope you figure out what's going on with your tummy.

Sue, some time away will be nice for you all.  My daughter has been helping her boyfriend take care of his grandparents.  They are becoming a handful for their family.  One has parkinson's and the other altzheimer's.  So they can't be alone.  It's just nice the whole family lives in one area so they can take turns.

I'm losing weight pretty steady now.  Just alittle at a time, which is good.  I lost 2 lbs in 6 days.  Now I'm working on the next 2 lbs.

Have a good weekend everyone!

Had too much sugar yesterday; paid the price today.  My GI tract simply won't tolerate it - I felt so rotten!  Once everything had left the scene I felt much better, but boy, I've gotta be careful!

Tammy good job on the weight loss.

Axe I hope you go to the doctor to get it checked out.  Could be a lot of things.

I had an open house today and had 3 couples and one lady by herself.  Everyone seemed to like it so time will tell.  I'm almost scared someone will like it.  With me not feeling 100% it's scary to think of moving.  I've turned it over to God and I know it will turn out for the best either way.

I hope everyone had a wonderful weekend.  It was fantastic weather here.

HELLLOOOOOO Anyone there?

HI everyone,

I've just spent a few minutes trying to catch up on everyone. I reread back a few pages of posts.

Lucy and Sue, I am sending prayers your way for for your moms.

Suzenf, I know how you feel about being away from your family. I am the same and it feels pretty rotten especially when someone is not well.

For all of you who are going through health issues, I hope you will be better soon. Lucy, did you find out if it's the gluten?

Connie, I have been away so long...who is Bobby? Is he new?? lol Any person who brings cheesecake HAS to be a good person!

Tammy - what's the Alli???

Daryl - I don't think we've met. Hi and welcome. Same to any new people that I haven't yet read about. I've been in this forum for awhile but have been playing hooky.

Hi Adarana. How have you been? And to all others who peek in once in awhile, what's up?

As for me, as most of you know, I have been fightning breast cancer all year. My last mammogram and visits to the specialists all look good!! I have been trying to get back in shape.

I bought a new bike and I am loving it. I started in June to commute to work (about 5 kms) and this weekend I am going in a bike run fundraiser for MS. I will be biking 88 kms on a hilly terrain. I am a bit nervous about it but also very excited. One of my high school friends has MS and cannot walk anymore. I am doing this for her because she can't and I want to feel less helpless about it.

I am going to put a link to the web site that shows the route I will be riding for anyone interested in looking.  http://www.mssociety.ca/atlantic/biketourNS.h tm

I am not really losing weight despite the biking because I EAT A LOT and mostly junk!! There are a few things going on in my life that cause me a great amount of stress. I would appreciate some advice on how not to stress out when the ones you love the most are having problems. Any hints??

If I can keep exercising I may not lose weight  because they say muscle weighs more than fat (???) but I am going to fit into my pants better. That is my goal>
Wish me luck.

Oh I am also in a play this summer at a historical site calles the Fortress of Louisbourg. I will try to post a  link to our web site. If you get to it, I am the person wearing the weird queen's mask with the big paper blond curls. It's lots of fun and really good for keeping my memory sharp. For the link, just go to the English link at the bottom and then you can see a bit about the play and go to the link to photos from our rehearsals.

Missed you guys. Hope to talk soon. Sorry I rambled on but it's been a long time.

Hi Janet,

Glad to hear from you.  I'm glad you're test look good and that you are bike riding.  The trail looks awesome.  Wish I could help you with the eating issues but that's my main problem also.  My only suggestion is keep the junk out of the house and if others bring it in have them hide it.  That helps me

I go to a new GI doc on the 31st to investigate the gluten.  Today I go to the doctor to investigate something else.  Get this possible lyme disease.  My glands are swollen, my joints are thobbing, vision problems, etc.  I had what I thought may have been chiggers on my ankles after walking though my niece's field about a month ago and now I'm thinking maybe it had been tiny ticks instead.  At the very least I have some kind of infection going on.  I'll keep everyone updated.  Geezzzz I'm tired of weird ailments.

Hi Lucy,

Wow, I hope it's not lyme disease. Where I'm from we have a huge tick problem. WHat's a chigger?

Janet
