age 45-50 group. Anyone interested?
I have looked for twins and poked around other groups without finding a real support group.
I am 48, 5'5", SW 151, CW 134, GW 128
I am the school teaching mother of three in their upper teens, wife of my 3 lbs from goal hubby.
SO...
Anyone interested?
Connie-That's GREAT!! And I would NOT vote you off this island just because you made your goal... heck no! I need you, along with all the other losers here, as my role model!!!!
YAHOO ! Way to go Connie! Great job! *high five*
!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I bet you are burning extra calories HEALING!
Happy Thursday!!
Suzen - way to go with an 11# loss. I haven't had experience with Provera, but I have had that footbal tum feeling <ugh>.
Connie - Congrats, congrats, congrats. What a fabulous feeling, huh?
Alylou - I loved your "positive experiences of dieting" list. Even though I am not to my goal.... I do find myself a whole lot happier and even slowing down to *admire* my image in mirrors or reflective surfaces I go by!! How vain is that???? Guess it is just my self-motivating vanity at work - keeping me honest and working at it.
-skn
Nah, I say - Connie has to go - kick her out
JUST KIDDING!![]()
Congratulations Connie - but you really gotta' change your tagline on your photo now to something like "thought I couldn't do it but I did lose the last 10 pounds". Oh yeah, how come we don't see any photos of you at your beautiful new goal weight? Hmm? hint, hint. Include a few cat-children in the photos, too.
My fun weekend last weekend didn't result in any weight gain - actually about a 1/2 pound loss since then, so I'm satisfied with that. It did, however, result in a rotten cold. We were around soooo many people, I'm sure I just picked up a 'bug' somewhere. Nothing serious - just a typical cold.
Are you all still really diligent about logging in your foods? I have found myself slipping away from that a little. I think my eating has become more automatic - in a good way - like I'm really used to my strawberries and oatmeal for breakfast, so in my mind I kinda' know where I'm at calorie-wise. Also, it could be that now that my kids are home from school for the summer, there's no way for me to even get near the computer during the day to log in the food.
Anyway, good morning to all - I'm off to do my walking before it gets too hot.
I keep disappearing then coming back. Pathetic, huh? Glad to see you all are truckin' along, keeping each other on track! I'm just having the hardest time staying focused. I've gotten sooo complacent (and I don't have any right to be). I've been hanging out at the same weight for the past 2 months--not because I've plateaued, but because I've just gotten lazy. I'm surprised as all heck that I've been able to maintain (plus or minus a couple) eating and drinking pretty much anything I please. What's up with that?? But I still have about 10-15 lbs to go (and these aren't "vanity" pounds, ladies--if I lose another 15, I *might* be able to squeeze into a size 8, but probably will be mostly in 10's). But still, I finally cleaned out my drawers over the Memorial Day weekend and tried on a bunch of summer clothes that were too small last summer but fit perfectly now, I feel and look a lot better than I did this time last year--I've just got a lot of excuses for not keepin' on. But I can't be resting on my laurels yet, there's still work to do! Help me!
In other news: I think the 'pause may be upon me--no Aunt Flo this month and I've been getting rather warm a lot. Good times.

Bought a pair of jeans at LL Bean yesterday, size 14... can't wait until they fit!!
Boy, it's kinda sad when you are trying to get DOWN to a size 14... oh well, that's reality and that's what I'm dealin' with.
Jenny - sorry, I kept forgetting to write to you about this: you and I are in the same size boat, kiddo. I'm just on the cusp between 16s and 14s (it depends on the brand if a 16 is too big, or a 14 too small). Anyhow - I say celebrate any size down. Don't worry about where you started. I started at a 18W or 1x mostly and now can fit a few 14s - I say HURRAY for shopping in the regular ladies' sizes - not the "plus women's" department anymore!
Also - my husband's name is Dave, too, and we have also been married 24 years - just like you and your hubby. My 25th anniversary is this October; that's why I started this whole dieting thing - Oct 1 is my first goal date.
Take Care, Sue
Hi girls! UMMMM all but one of you who is ready to kick me out! LOL! I'm glad we all still have our sense of humor! Soph I have already been through menopause and it is no fun believe me! I actually began in my late 30's. The hot flashes were the absolute worst part but I managed and (cross my fingers) it is history. I have been told some of the symptoms can reoccur.....they better not. The menopause really may be why I have only cats in my life. LOL I had big mood swings and lived in the freezer!!!! Have you ever noticed that most of womens problems begin with men....MENopause...MENstruation(did I spell that wrong)...MENtal llness....sorry to any hubbys that might be looking over a shoulder!!!!!! Have a fun weekend ladies and I will be chatting soon. Jenny thanks for keeping me!!
Connie
Oh yeah I swear I will get some pictures up soon. With the arm thing and all I haven't had a desire for pictures if ya know what I mean! But will do and will also put some furrballs on as well! Boy my cats can read obviously because I just got two dirty little looks for the furrball comment. I have 5 and they're names are Neiko who is handicapped since birth (mom abandoned him and I bottle fed him from 2 weeks old and he weighed 2 1/2 OUNCES) anyway he is 13 now then Tyler he is 10 Mollie will be 16 in September Katie 12 and Shelby who will be 4 on halloween! That's my family girls! Ok the cats are smiling now ....I can rest! Have fun! "crazy cat woman" Connie
Hi all!
Sue, I say we wait to kick Connie out till she shows us some pictures!
I am still logging my foods...I fear giving it up! Like if i slack off the pounds will spring back!
Soph, I think if you are eating and drinking what you want and are maintaining, you have successfully changed your life style!
Cool...I am not at that point my self...yet!
Connie, have you ever read any of The Cat Who... series by Lillian Jackson Braun? They are fun summer reading for a cat lover, especially a healing one! They take place (most of them) in a setting based up by our cabin...so we got hooked some years back. our lib. even has some of them on cd so we can listen to them as we drive north...
Since we got thunderstormed out of our 5K run/walk a few weeks ago, the rain date was today. Our LITTLE school raised over $1000 for a camp for kids with cancer, and we all got out and exercised! I even got some kudos from my praise stingy boss for coming up with the idea and making it all happen. So I totally DESERVED the 5 oatmeal cookies I inhaled when we got done!![]()
Take care all...I'm off to shop for a exercise video or two...I have lost most of the weight...but I need to tone up the jiggly bits that persist.![]()

*insert innocent look here*
LOL back at ya'
Sue :)
Hey everyone,
I keep falling off my wagon. My son did not pass EOG(stress eating for me). He took it again and passed with flying colors. It seems I cannot get my focus on watching what I eat! Every mornng I say I am going to cut back on what I am eating and then I fall right back into the trap! Anyway, hoe you all have a great weekend.
Cholder
Hang in there Cho, one of these times it is going to be right, and you will be on your way! Stress eating is a biggie for many of us, it IS hard to get past...but not impossible! Here is another idea, I know it can work, try planning out EVERYTHING you will eat the next day. Even log it in here as if you have already eaten it. I have done it a time or two when I knew I was going to be tempted and it helped me keep my resolve. By the way, EOG? thats a new one for me...but I am so glad he was successful!
Sue, are those horns holding up your halo??![]()
G'nite
Hi girls! How is everybody???? I am sitting here all alone on a Saturday night
sipping on a rum and diet coke! Just wanted to check in and say hello to you all. Aly, of course those are horns holding up her halo!!!!! LOL but I love her just the same don't you? You know I lost a good 3 lbs when I lost my horns BUT my WINGS are causing me to not be at 120 at this time....oh well...such is life.....at least for us ANGELS!!!!
Yeah right!!!!! Have a great weekend and think of poor little me and my cat "company" ( they can't escape ya know)
Connie
*clink* the sound of my rum and diet cranberry taping your rum and diet coke! I am so with you girl! my kids all have a LIFE (jeeze mom!) and my hubby is up north. so I am home watching the grass grow! At least you have your kitties...my puppies went up north too! (traitors!) ![]()
Frankly, If pushed, I have to admit that I am not the best company a week before school ends...there is just waaaayyyytoooo much to do!!!
think I'll go make another rum and diet cranberry....![]()
take care...
SSHAAY uguyz 8 rumminditecokes lader....Hey just kiddin! Did have a few calories more than intended (alcohol wise) brought the food home for tomorrow but not one drink did I turn down...oh I forgot ummmm I wasn't by myself all evening (or old geezer me would have been in bed by now) my neighbors invited me over for what turned out to be a take it home with ya for later Connie cookout!...ended up with a couple or 5 "LIGHT" beers (note to others light beer makes you lose weight vs heavy beer) NONE of that healthy cranberry stuff for me uh uh nope just the light stuff...and I will be wondering why in a couple of days that I am UP again to 140!!!!!! Ok JENNY don't be the one to remind me why...but hey I will be legitamately in the group......yes I probably spelled that wrong but I actually can do that on a good day....My cat kids are all looking at me like "Mom um if you really don't want that steak that you foiled up and refrigerated we can TRY and force it down..."alright i have tortured all of you enough for now....you know I won't remember any of this tomorrow (even reading it) I AM really joking well mostly.....LOL SMILE girls
Connie
I know Connie... you're going to gain a bit on purpose 'cause you can't face the thought of life without us. How sweet! You really like us!! (You know I love Sally Field and I hate making fun of her but sometimes it's just there and you can't avoid it.)
How does that work with drinks and calories? I think it should be that if it's clear... like water... then there shouldn't be any calories.
So I have to whine a bit. Remember when I said I had lost some (teeny) weight when I should'nt have? Well, now I'm gaining when I shouldn't be and it's pissing me off. It's not that time of the month. I have been exercising, which I said I wouldn't do, and now I'm gaining even though I've been "good". This is usually what happens. The second I even think the word diet, or exercise the littlest bit, I gain weight. It's like my brain sends out a message, "ALL CELLS ALERT... CONSERVE RESERVES AT ALL COSTS... SHE'S EXERCISING AND WE DON'T WANT TO DIE IF THERE'S A FAMINE!!" ARGH
Skn/Sue-I also lost a fight with a birthday cake at my mom's. Those cakes don't fight fair! And so sad about the baby. I suppose that since you are in the breeding business you must see that occasionally but still, I would think it's sad for you.
cholder-What's an EOG? I'm sorry it's stressful for you and glad he made it through the second one.I have the same problem with dissolving resolve as the day goes along. Try not to dwell on the past and see each day as a new start... I'll do it too ok?
Alylou-That's great about the $ you raised! Good for your heart. And rum and diet cranberry huh? Sounds yummy and like something I could drink way too many of (thus ending her sentence in a preposition... sorry teach)
Sue/Mom-we have a lot in common! That's fun! And you know my Dad lives in Tucson... are you near there? As for the logging... I was doing it religiously but have been struggling with some of it... like not really knowing how to log some things I've eaten which were made by someone else (restaurant) and I'm too shy/embarrassed to ask about how many oz of fish there was in that dish.
Sophesca-Hi, we haven't "met"! I also think that it's great that you haven't been gaining while you took a break. Good for you!!
I went to NH with my son today. He's mid-terming toward his third degree black belt in Taekwondo and will take the final test in January. Then I worked on three photos and got them all done. Bookkeeping tomorrow! Oh Boy!! Gotta go to bed.
PS: So I was just finishing up typing and I saw something move out of the corner of my eye... it was a little frog which had gotten in the house and was hopping across the family room! Like the size of a quarter. I have no idea how it could've gotten in here!! Weird!!
PPS: So if you have to leave the group if you reach your goal weight what if you turn 51? Like I'm going to do in August. I guess I could just lie. OK, never mind... it's not me, I'm asking for this friend of mine.
OMG!!!!! Turning 51 is wayyyyyyyy worse than "thinking" you r reaching your goal.......I say NAH out with u in August!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! LOL! AND those long posts......I would never do that myself!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! YES JENNY I AM GOING TO BED SOON!!!!!! Really glad someone was still out there so thanks!! later....Connie
EOG =End of GRade Test
In NC, it is a standarized test, children, 3-5 grades, must take at the end of t he year. If they don't pass they can be retained to that grade. My son is ADHD, and that in itself causes enough emotional strain on the whole family. But, add EOG and ADHD becomes Nightmare on ELm street x100. Now I just found out that someone has stolen my wallet(debit cards, license, social security cards etc...). Found it missing when I went to WalMart earlier today. Life s always taking turns-good and bad. Biggest sanity saver, next to God, is food.
OH cho, what a bummer! Hopefully there will be a happy ending...just to give hope: I once thought my wallet was stolen, but the phone rang and this nice young guy had found it in the street! I went to his house, he had just gotten off his shift and had found it on his way home, I didn't loose a penny and he would not take any reward. I went home and had two pizzas delivered to his house.
ADHD is tough...is he on meds? do they help? Lots of that out there these days.
Jenny, If you haven't noticed...I am not the "stickler" for grammar rules... ESP on our cozy thread!
I totally agree with you about exercise: If I DON'T I loose, when I DO, the scales freeze in place. What is up with that??
Hmmm, It is clear so it must be calorie free. Oh girl you are ON TO SOMETHING THERE! Vote Jenny for calorie god!
...I also like the oft stated one "if it is eaten standing up it doesn't count"!
FYI: Ocean Spray diet cranberry: 5 cal per cup
Warning: Whine ahead...
Connie....Momma Connie...I hurt my arm! waaaaaaa!
That STUPID pile of dirt...I have strained the tendons in my wrist and elbow. This is taking forever to type, GRRRR. This aging thing sucks.
There, *wipes eyes* I feel better, Thanks Connie for letting me whine to you, I knew you would understand!
Now as to the possibility of anyone being dumped: *checks thread constitution, by-laws, rules, and policies* Nope. not going to happen. If your IN, your IN. Now aren't you glad you asked?![]()
