age 45-50 group. Anyone interested?
I have looked for twins and poked around other groups without finding a real support group.
I am 48, 5'5", SW 151, CW 134, GW 128
I am the school teaching mother of three in their upper teens, wife of my 3 lbs from goal hubby.
SO...
Anyone interested?
Wow, I missed a few days and missed many many opportunities to post replies to many many topics!
I got an email from Rusty's trainer with photos of one of her assistants riding him! Yea! She said he'll be fine. Just taking it one day at a time.
My ankle is still giving me trouble. I was at work and there was a thunderstorm coming so I kneeled under my desk to unplug the computer and when I got up I re-injured it. ![]()
Welcome Caverlady. Are/were you a caver? My husband used to go caving in his youth.
I have too much to do and no time to write but I've read all the posts. Glad everyone's still here and slogging through the aches and pains and rains, etc.
Jenny
Greetings all-
Well Connie, I am glad you were able to report in on the orange martini before we all went out and bought the ingredients. You can just make some good ole fashion screwdrivers or a Harvey Wallbanger with that pesky left-over [almost full] bottle of smirnoff. Orange juice / orange twist -- surely they must go together. Sorry it was not up to snuff with the pina colada's. Did you get your chiro appt yet? I will be out of town (have to run down to the Boston office) on your birthday... so I will make sure I get in *early b-day wishes* now.
Jenny - glad to hear that Rusty is coming along!! ... but sorry that your ankle had a setback.
Alylou - your "girls weekend" should be alot of fun. I do like Seattle!!
Hey Axe!! Congrats on those falling off jeans! I don't care if the scale needle moves or not.. but continual *reduction* is a grand goal. Stay on high ground and keep those electrical tools out of puddles and bathtubs as we don't want to hear you had your hair standing straight on end!!!
Gotta run grab a bite to eat... long workday today as I have a work association meeting after work. Yeehaw.
skn
Hello my friends!
Well I have been to the chiro 2x this week and have to go again tomorrow but it does seem to be helping although I am extremely sore this a.m. He has me scheduled for 12 sessions....ugh! SO Jenny how about the ankle now? Getting better I am hoping. Happy to hear about Rusty!! Skn gotta say about the orange vodka....I put the diet crush soda, orange vodka and cool whip free and added just a little vanilla cool whip (cause I never found the sugar free vanilla syrup) crushed ice in the blender and anyway it tastes just like a creamsicle with a BONUS!!!! LOL and its not really too fattening and it is still too sweet to drink too many so............... NEW DRINK for our cabin trip!
Axe it really sounds like you are definitely on the right track!!!! WHOOHOO! The inches going down is even better than the scales! I've found those scales have an attitude most mornings...they must have nightmares so not much sleep! LOL MINE especially! Aly hope that you are still in the dry! It is so hot and dry here we are having to conserve water and fire worries are major.....everybody do a rain dance for N.C. I bet Az is feeling pretty warm these days as well! It isn't supposed to be this way in the mountains of N.C. though! Um what was it I said about wearing a down bikini while it was turning spring....I was just joking GOD!
At least I know he's listening or either he didn't want to see me in ANY kind of bikini one! So he's making me have to stay in air conditioning!!!!! Cave I would really like to know HOW you quit smoking. I have really cut down but still smoking almost a half a pack a day! HELP! Betsy we will all be thinking about you and your wonderful China trip....can't wait to hear details! Not about the noodles you eat though..I LOVE anything with noodles so lets just leave that part out ok! Sue are we still holding out on the hand shake and dues???
Gosh I think the chiropractor is helping more than I thought!!!! Aren't all of you just so HAPPY about that!!??!! I am back.....to rambling anyway! I will spare you all of any more FOR TODAY!!!!! Have a great day! Connie
Happy Birthday, to Connie, (tomorrow) -- So glad to see you back writing your wonderful letters to us; keep on going to that chiro, maybe it will help you for for good. Wondering why you are so sore today, though.
Axe - let's see a picture of you in some smaller jeans! Congrats to you. I think sizes are the way to judge progress, but I still find myself virtually addicted to weighing in each AM.
Aly - you asked if I was "musical"- Not really. My daughter has all the talent. I sang a lot in high school and loved being in high school musical theater shows, but, my 'talent' is more in my enthusiasm than my voice. I also played the organ (wow! that dates me doesn't it?) so I can read music pretty well. My daughter actually started playing my organ when she was 3. We found her copying the jingles she heard from kid's tv shows - that's when we decided "this girl needs a piano" and on it went from there! I think I had the knowledge to get her the equipment and instruction she needed, but she comes by the talent on her own. (Of course, that being said, she comes by pretty much everything like that on her own, because my kids - like some of Betsy's -- were adopted. I always kind of "forget" that when I start writing about inherited things.)
Also, Aly, about Seattle? Hmm, you do love rain, don't you? Actually, I really love Seattle. We were just there last summer. There's a great chowder place down by the waterfront, if you're interested, it had some reference to "lumberjack" or something like that in the name. It's in one of the pier buildings - the one that also has an old carousel in it. The soup was fabulous and the bread bowl it comes in even better. Worth the calories!
Speaking of Betsy - best wishes X 100 in China. Can't wait to hear how things went when you get home. I hope you get a few days relaxation here and there.
Jenny - hope you are doing well. Sounds like Rusty is making progress. Now, if you can only stop hurting that ankle - you and Rusty will both be ready for a horeseback ride soon.
Skn- your 12 year old daughter is waaaaay toooo busy, I say. Surprising that you can even keep up with her comings and goings. It's hard, isn't it? Do you have a hard time just being in a "normal routine" when one of the kids is missing? That's how I usually feel. You sound like you've been busy, too, let us know how you are doing.
I enjoyed Betsy's comment about the old days when kids just enjoyed playing and being "bored" all summer - I do miss that. Our problem in AZ, is that summers are sort of like winters in the north or midwest. You just can't do anything outside (except swim - and it is even too hot to do that mid-day) So, imagine 2 1/2 months of winter, with no school to keep kids occupied during the day, and that's what our AZ summers feel like. No wonder my son plays toooo many video games and my daughter keeps leaving for out of state camps!
Ok - I'll end my novel now. See when I don't write everyday, I "force" you all to read a book every 3rd day instead. Bye friends, Sue
PS. I actually joined the gym I had been trying out. They had a very reasonable price plan - so I jumped in and did it. That is so unlike me, I can't even believe I did it. Now I've gotta' go regularly.
I REALLY JUST WANTED TO SAY
THAT I MAY BE OLDER TODAY
AND DON'T THINK IT NIFTY
THAT I'M ALMOST 50
BUT I'M GOING SOMEWHERE TO PLAY!!!!!!!!!!!
Have a great day girls! I'm going to gain a couple of lbs today probably but SO WHAT RIGHT??????????? Connie
Hey Connie -
Just remember: Although we may be getting older, we are also getting better.
Enjoy your day!
from, your-45-year-old-friend, Sue
Running to catch our plane, but HAD to jump in to say:
HAPPY BIRTHDAY CONNIE!!!!!
Enjoy this one, The next will be .......![]()
Love ya girl--have a ball!
Hello? *Echo, echo* - that's the sound of our empty-ish forum. Who's here?
me, skn, jenny, connie, maybe ax or maybe soph (does soph still write to us? and I think we've lost Cho and never heard from caverlady again either. Hmmm). Sorry if I missed anyone else - no slight intended.
Betsy, Alylou, Suzenf: they've all gone travelin' now haven't they?
OK - skn, jenny and connie - it's up to the four of us to keep this place hoppin' until the rest get back. Want to write about something silly like - list your favorite movie, or tell us when you got your first kiss, or an embarrassing moment, or the silliest nickname anyone ever gave you . . .comments? anyone?
I'm off to the gym -- wow, still can't believe I'm saying that, it feels so strange- hope to catch up with you all later. Sue
I'm here Sue! Glad to hear you're still enjoying the gym.
Not much going on. Sticking with the program and I've lost 8 pounds so far! I'm down to 184. Yea!
My ankle's still sore! Boo!
I live in North Yarmouth, Maine which was named such being north of Yarmouth, Massachusetts. Maine was part of Massachusetts at the time. Neighboring town Yarmouth, Maine spun off in 1860-something so we were here first! Nowadays, they call the whole area, which is about 5 towns now, Ancient North Yarmouth. I think when it was incorporated it was known as Wescustogo though.
Connie-The arms getting better right? And Skn-Sue... how are the hips? Anyone else with aches and pains they'd like to share?? Hoo boy, like my mother-in-law says, gettin' old ain't for sissies.
Hi girls! HAD to take yesterday off!!!!! Sue when my friends all tell me what I did and said Thursday night i will probably have lots of very embarrassing situations to tell about......Oh My Gosh! I had a blast but everyone enjoyed plying me with plenty of birthday drinks and yesterday I felt like I was 149 years old!!! I am kinda back to human today but I think i will leave all the fun drinks alone for a good while! I weighed yesterday a.m. and was down to 130 but this a.m. the asian food caught up as well as the drinks and I am back up to 134! SOOOOOO back to my routine and hopefully the weight will go back down again. My arm is feeling better but the numbness and tingling in my hand and fingers has not changed. He says I may have permanent nerve damage but MAYBE not....Keep up those prayers everone! Jenny are you doing anything to help that soreness in your ankle? We are missing alot of folks these days aren't we????? We will make sure to keep our group together though. I guess most are just having a busy time right now and eventually we will have lots to read about right?!!! Do you think that we insulted caverlady as we did our veganmamma somehow ladies? We need to change our intro to 45-55 age group with sense of humor ONLY! Anyway Sue like I said my embarrassing moments will be told in due time, my first kiss was at 13, my brothers, I have 3 and I am the only girl, had a million nicknames for me...none I really would want to tell! When I was little my favorite movie was the wizard of oz and it drove those brothers crazy that i wanted to see it every YEAR that it came on t.v.!!!! I'll have to think about what movie is actually my favorite these days. Ok now I have rambled on as usual for you girls so......your turn!!!! Happy Saturday to ya! Connie

Good morning -
My 17 year old daughter is out looking at cars to buy with Dad. Wow! that seems impossible to me. I've just got a minute on here today -- sometimes I get sooooo distracted by reading stuff on here, I realize it's been an hour or more - yikes.
Connie - so glad you had "fun, fun, fun" on your birthday. Don't worry about the temporary weight gain - it's nothing but the Asian food - that does it to me everytime. Also, I hope we didn't insult caverlady in any way, hmmm, I didn't think about it that way. I loved what you said about the Wizard of Oz - not so much about it being your favorite, but about "watching it every year on TV" - that just made me realize how much we all share here in our little group. To be able to remember back to how exciting it was to watch a movie like that on TV, instead of downloading it, renting it, popping in the DVD, etc. It made me feel happy/nostalgic.
Jenny- I like your story about your hometown. I do miss living in a place with history (not that I ever lived in someplace quite as historic as yours), but even Chicago had it's historic heyday. Phoenix, well, as I've said before - anything older than 20 years here is considered old. Great job on your 8 pound loss - that's a significant amount!
Well, I'll answer one of my own questions - just for the fun of it: Nickname? my older brother used to call me "Charlie Brown" because of my brown hair and the fact that I liked the Peanuts cartoons when they were shown on TV; but over time it evolved into "Chuck". So for a number of years, he called me just plain Chuck. I didn't really mind it. It was kind of cute.
Happy Saturday to all - Sue/Chuck
Oh I hate to say it 'cause nobody else will put a nickname but PLEASE let me remember to never address you again as Sue...ok....CHUCK! That's so cute! Did I mention all three of my brothers were OLDER so I really mean it about alot of nicknames.......maybe you'll get them outta me slowly sometime.....maybe not!!!!! LOL Connie ( One thing about my having catchildren no one will ever be driving a car!!!!!!)

oh, oh, oh -never say never, don't you remember "Toonces, the driving cat" from the old Saturday Night Live show (late 1970s or early 1980s probably)??? LOL
Meow!
I do remember Toonces! Gosh I gotta go hide my keys!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Well I went UP another lb! Dang! I sure am glad I only have a birthday once a year!!!!!!!! But um....here comes the fourth of July......so......cookouts......BEVERAGES.... ...maybe i'll have one of my cats drive me to the parties so by the time I get there all the goodies will be consumed!!!!![]()
Hi gang-
I ran away (down to Boston) for a few days; didn't actually drop off the face of the planet. My post will be short-n-sweet today as I have a hundred things to do.
Hips... no real great improvement yet. But then again, hoofing it all over town when they are still aggravated didn't do a whole lot to make them happier!! The aches / pains reminded me of a snopes rumor that circulated regarding Julie Andrews singing at an AARP event. Although not true, it was funny enough that you should check it out. http://www.snopes.com/humor/iftrue/andrews.as p
We are headed out on vkay this coming Sunday (taking kids to Gettysburg) for a week. Boys/husband will be running a sausage/food stand with the other scouts for the 4th of July so even though we have Thurs/Fri off from our paying jobs, it will still be hectic. I go get my daughter from girlscout camp on Saturday.
Ate ALOT of food while I was down in Boston. Stayed with old family friends of one of my colleagues... Sari being owner of Casablanca restuarant in Cambridge, MA ... so good food, good wine, etc. The trip was to our Boston [work] office, so my development team also went out to PF Changs for a meal and sampled half the menu I swear!!!
Dredging up something silly from the past. My older brother and I were about 15-16mos apart and until we hit 9 or 10, we shared a bedroom with bunkbeds. We would alternate each night INVENTING long convoluted stories about a "pet crocodile" while the other one would listen and eventually drift off to sleep.
Hi to all... won't respond individually today; just know I am alive and kicking out here!!
skn
Happy July - everyone! I need to go out and get some errands done, but I just wanted to say hello to the few of us still around right now. I know the others will return.
I have been pretty faithful about going to that gym I joined but had a bad experience there yesterday. If you are interested, you can read about it in this post: http://caloriecount.about.com/forums/post/104 935.html (if there is a space in the number 104935, you need to delete the space).
Skn - sounds like a fun time in Boston. Enjoy your trip to Gettysburg.
Connie - be good at those 4th of July BBQs - not tooo many red, white and blue drinks now. :) Or make one of the cats the designated driver.
Jenny - how are you? I hope the ankle is feeling better - you should post a picture of your in-training horse for us all to see.
Hello - to any of our vacationers who might be reading but not posting.
Bye for now,Sue
I'm here! The latest thing I'm excited about is that Google Street View finally went through St. Louis, and they got a really nice shot of my house (taken before the windstorm that knocked down my bing cherry tree).
I'm going to a potluck on the 4th, and I've got to prepare myself for the calorie hit I'm likely to take. I'm bringing a healthy dish (rice-veggie salad, cobbled together from several recipes I saw), but I know there will be plenty of things to be wary of. The host is grilling burgers and brats; I'll stick to the hamburger, I think - it's leaner. I may have to have some of the hostess's homemade strawberry ice cream, though.![]()
Hi All,
Oh my gosh I've been busy!! Work work work and then yesterday my sister came with her little girls, 6 and 8. Wow! I'd forgotten how ACTIVE little kids are and DEMANDING of your attention! Makes me appriciate my non-communicative teens more and more.
Yesterday my 17 yr old son got back from a Taekwondo competition in Arkansas and tomorrow he goes to have his wisdom teeth out. 3 are impacted. He's not worried... I am. Then if he's up to it, he'll go to DE with my sister for a week to job shadow her and her husband and take the train back by himself. I'm not sure I'm ready for all this independence! My daughter on-the-other-hand has been lying on the couch with a computer on her lap all week. **sigh**
My sis the PT says my ankle was probably more injured than I thought and it will take longer to heal completely but that I'm doing everything right so I have to be patient. I hate that.
Well, I should go to bed since I have to get up early to drive my kid to the tooth doc. Sorry no personal notes but I am with all you losers in spirit!
Jenny
Hi guys! I just wanted to wish you all a HAPPY FOURTH OF JULY and tell you all to be safe and watch out for all the goodies that will be tempting you all. It looks like I will be stuck at home.....
I am ok just still recovering. The chiropractor is helping but of course no miracle.... I feel that I had really better just take it easy...so boring and annoying but that's me for now! Hope you are all doing very very well and maybe soon we will all get a chance to laugh and catch up on the fun facts in our lives again! ChiroConnie![]()
