Is it too late to join?  I'm just starting on CC but started my plan several weeks ago.  Married 49, 5 kids and about 45 pounds to goal.

Hi all

Lucy, my heart goes out to you and your friend.

When I said earlier that I had a stressful past two years, it started with the loss of my brother who is lost at sea since October 2006. After seeing what my parents are still going through all I can say is your friend is going to need her friends and family and it will never truly heal just get a bit more bearable with time.

My prayers go out to you all.

Janet

Lucy, I can't begin to imagine what your friends are going through right now....but hope they can find the strength they need to pull through.  News like this makes all our little day to day 'problems' pale in comparison...so no major complaints from me right now  - life is good, I guess!!

Great to have you back Skn...and betsybell (congrats on the new family member)...and hello to dougdebug!!

Suz

Thanks Janet and Suz.  Yesterday was a bad day for me in all respects but I took a long hot bath last night and a muscle relaxer so I feel a little better today and a little more able to cope.  The funeral is Friday and about 3 hours away so I'll have to see what arrangements I can make.  I'm trying to mentally prepare because I know how bad it will be.  The family are all strong Christians and wonderful people.  I know they will pull closer and make it though this.

A funeral on Friday and a wedding on Saturday.  My stepdaughter is going to be in a wedding on Saturday for one of her best friends and we'll be attending that.

Today I'm thankful for the good things in my life and friends.

Welcome Doug

Janet - about your brother lost at sea - that just gives me chills, so sad, so unfinished - you have my condolences.  I'm sure it must be very difficult to cope with something like that.

Lucy  - good luck at the funeral. I am glad that the family has faith - they will be relying on it so much now.

Welcome to Dougdebug - tell us about yourself!

All is well here - another hot and, now, humid day in AZ. Both kids are home today so that's nice. We have a friend from Germany coming to visit my daughter today. She is the daughter of missionaries and is in the US for the summer. My son is getting very adapted to his braces - and is now just wishing that there wasn't only 5 days left until school starts.

I've got a couple of big meetings to prepare for - both involving my daughter's HS band. I'm the band booster president and it is time to get some work done. So, I've been doing lots of preparation for that. I also have a new job offer that I am considering. I have been substitute-teaching for 4 years now but I might want something with a little more regularity.

Take care everyone. The board has been a little quiet - hope to hear from all our "regulars" soon. Like they used to say: Keep on, keepin' on.   Sue

Janet,

I'm sorry about your brother also.  I hope that you and your family can find closure.

Thank you lucy and justamom. It has been a very rough ride, especially seeing what it's doing to my parents, siblings and his wife and 2 daughters. Sometimes the guilt of not living close to them to help is almost too hard to bear. You are both right too that it is the lack of closure that is so difficult.

However, life goes on. Thanks for showing kindness. It helps.

On another topic, I've lost 2 pounds ladies. I'm pretty happy about that.

Yesterday I ate a great big steak though packed with calories. It was too deliciopus! Eeeekk. Calorie counter really make you see what you put in your body. Back to salmon and haddock today!

Janet

Janet how terrible, and how tough on you with the feeling of guilt and wanting to be there. My sister has been through a very tough divorce from a horrible man who kept stalking her, and this during a period where their only child was diagnosed schizofrenic - and I felt so terrible for her and for not being able to help more (she lives in Copenhagen, Denmark, and I in the Netherlands, much too far apart).

Lucy - my youngest daughter is 9yo, I can't begin to image the whole in ones heart after such a loss. As the Dutch say: I send you my thoughts and my strength!

On 'the other topic' - I've lost  a bit of weight on my tummy and hips since starting here last week, and I look better as well, more confident, more "shining" (from more activity AND believing I can do this). Nice in itself, but then I had a very special compliment at the dentists today (not a very fun visit, but that's a different story): a mentally handicapped grown up man sitting in the waiting room looked at me coming in and sitting down, then said to his 'helper' about me: "Hey, there's a pretty thing" Laughing

(The 'helper' looked at me with surprise and clearly 'only' saw an overweight woman in her mid-forties, but what do I care - the man meant it, and he made my day!)

Hello all!

Lucy, Oh so wrenchingly painful!!! I agree with those that would find the lose of a child unbearable, may their faith hold them up and hold them together.

Janet, I also echo those that wish you and your family peace and closure.

Sue, and job offer! After being home with the kids and revolving your life around them for years, it is quite a change to consider a job outside the home! We share some similarities: After quitting everything and staying home, I substituted at my kid's school for several years but the year my youngest was in 5th grade I was offered a half time teaching position at the school, the next two years I was 8/10ths time then I went to full time. It worked really well for us because the kids and I were together even when I was working! (It is a small school and I taught all three of my kids 8th grade and science in 6th, 7th and 8th).

Welcome Doug...DO tell us about yourself, are you a he Doug or a she Doug??Smile

Betsy, Welcome back and congratulations on the addition of Mikayla. I have a beautiful Mikayla in my class, lovely name! You are, as usual, a very busy lady! Tell us more about China!

Sue/skn, Welcome back also...giggles at your "ashley" (maybe a shiver too!).

I have been a little lax with my eating the last few days with company in the house Undecided... and today is our 26th anniversary, so dinner will NOT BE DIET FOOD!Wink

Connie, how is your little Momma doing?

Tru, like your picture! It is niceto "see" you! and the Handicapped just say what they see, is'nt that lovely?! Your poor sister! what a burden.

I will be updating post 570 with all the new info that has come in later today.

Hi!

Is it too late to join?  I'm 48 5'3" SW 200  CW 180  GW 135 but may go lower once I reach the goal if possible!

Pam

Hi Pam,

I'm new to this forum also.  Sounds like we are almost twins from our stats.  Welcome.  I'm 48, 5'3", and we have almost the same starting point and the same goal.

Thanks everyone for the thoughts and prayers.  I'm trying to prepare for the funeral.    They ran an article about her today and it was so sweet and so sad.  She passed away the morning of her 10th Birthday.

I'm not really sure what's going on with my diet plan at the moment.  I did terrible the last few days but really trying to watch it today.  My emotionally eating isn't helping.

Hi Lucy,

I'm so sorry to hear about your friend's loss, but the will find comfort in their faith and I'm sure that you will provide comfort as well.  Such a young age. I can't imagine the pain of losing a child.  I don't think you should worry too much about emotional eating.  You can always pick back up again when you're feeling better.  Maybe you could add in some extra exercise.  It might help you feel a bit better about eating and it will definitely relieve some stress.  I hope you are feeling better soon.

Pam

Lucy - Hope you are bearing up alright. So sad about the little girl's birthday, too.

Caverlady/Pam - Guess what? You already have joined us -- I knew your name sounded familiar - go back to post #393 here and you'll see your original welcome. So I say, welcome back.

Aly- it does sound like you and I have similar career pasts. I'm still trying to figure out what to do with this job offer. I guess I just don't know what to be when I grow up, yet.Undecided

Tonight is kind of exciting for us - it will be the first time we get to see our daughter as the drum major for her HS marching band. They have had 2 weeks of rehearsals, and a mini-concert for the parents is tonight.

So, last night, I had this long meeting and I didn't eat before I went. Then, I didn't get home until much later than anticipated - and before you knew it, I was sitting on the couch, watching TV at 11:00 pm, and eating 3 servings of cereal, a sugar-free pudding, and some leftover macaroni and cheese. Yikes! Will someone please remind me to eat BEFORE I leave for the next meeting????

As always, a warm hello to everyone in this online family of ours.  Sue

oops - sorry that was a double post - I deleted it.

Hi to everyone!

Lucy- I'll be praying about your friends.  There are times when you just can't worry about what you're eating.  I took about a month off while we were adopting Mikayla and I'm just this week starting to try and get back into a rhythm.  It'll all work out in the end.  The most important thing is to be there for your friends.  I, too, couldn't imagine going on if one of my children died.

Janet- I hope that your family can find peace in some way.  I don't know how you can survive that without a strong faith.

Sue- Go for it!  It sounds like a good idea, so if that's what you want you should definitely pursue it.  It may be hard but I think it would be fulfilling.  Maybe that's because I've just realized that I now have a 2 year old and will be home with her (homeschooling) for many, many years!

Tru- great comment!  You must have looked beautiful.  I think people like that can truly see what others are like.

Hi and welcome to everyone new!

Our trip to China was interesting.  We'd never been to Xi'an before so we were able to see some new things.  We only had a part time guide so we were on our own a lot of the time and just walked around exploring.  I think that was the most interesting part.  In the first city the people seemed very unkind (to put it nicely!) to us, especially with our daughters, but in the second city it was much better.  Partly because I could understand some of what they were saying and knew when they were being rude!  I love the food there (nothing like American Chinese food at all!) so that was enjoyable.  Our new daughter is adjusting well and acting like a normal two year old except for the fact that she can speak two Chinese dialects and now some English.  Sometimes it just sounds like a jumble of sounds!  I figure she'll work out all the words by the time she's about 10!  I'll try to add some pictures now.

Gotta go, it's nap time here!  Laughing

Betsy

I added a few pictures of us all.  I would have added more but it took a long time to figure it out with my sleep deprived mind!

I forgot to mention that my older daughter moved up a level in gymnastics on Tuesday.  Now she can start competing with girls from other gyms in the area!  She's really excited and has worked hard for this!

Now I've really got to go, don't want to miss those naps!

Betsy

LOL I guess I forgot that I had joined!  Well I'm glad I found you again!  I read the welcomes so now I feel like a member again!  Thanks!

Pam

Hi everyone! Been gone a little while and still sorting through some things here, but just couldn't stay away from my "friends" here. :)

Welcome to the new people! Nice to meet you!

I haven't really lost much weight lately, but I haven't fallen off the wagon either. It was hard to stay focused, but this is important to me and I have to accomplish this.

I'll check in again soon. :D

Hi All!

Welcome back Pam! lol about your forgetting us like that!Smile

Nice to see you back Tammy, good job not gaining during stressLaughing, I hope all is calm now!

Lucy, the family and friends of that poor little girl are in our prayers...the funural must have been hard...

Sue, I love the song from peter pan ..."I don't want to grow up..."!Cool

Betsy, Chinese food from china is so fresh and less "goopy" than what is served here, but it can be very scary at times, my idea of 'food' and theirs doesn't always agree! (some parts of a fish, God MEANT for us to throw away!)Surprised

Connie, miss you girl, are you lurking???

Not sur who all still needs to send me info for post 570...but if you haven't: get 'er done!Laughing

next post is 600!

Alylou
