Haaaaa Connie you just saved my day!Kiss Being ill is no fun at all, and whta makes it worse is that the antibiotics make me feel sick for about an hour every time I've taken the medicine - which is 3 times a dayFrown So I'll bet some of you can guess what happened today - I skipped lunch because I couldn't get it down, and then around 5 I found myself in the kitchen, consuming a whole bag of potatochips in less than 10 minutes - standing up - eeeeeeeeeeek. Oh well, it'll pass... won't it? Why don't I grab something healthy then, plenty of it in the house - bad habits die slowly. But: I decided to feed it to my log straight away and get that over with, so I guess I'll just forgive myself yet again and get on with it. And whilst doing that: Connie, is your book sold internationally as well? I definately want a signed copyYell

You know, I've been wondering about something, something I don't understand here on CC: when you check in the first time, you're asked to fill in all sorts of stuff - came out that I have a large frame, I'm not too active but not completely inactive either (what's the word?), I'm severely overweight etc. CC set the goal date in july next year (which is fine with me). And I should eat 1650 cals a day to reach my goal. Which compared to some of you guys is a lot, - how come? It works too, I steadily get a little bit liter. I stick to one advice given in the beginning: always eat less than you use, in my case about 500 cals less a day - so when I have an active day, I allow myself to eat more (fuel as it were). How do you all do it, do you use the activity log as well? And does anyone have an explanation for why some may eat more than others???

Have a nice day/evening wherever you are and till next time.

I am actually reading posts, even if I seem to be in more lurk-mode, than social butterfly lately!!   I have been about as busy as a one-armed wallpaper hanger.   I know I was just away in New Orleans... but we have to take one more week away as a family-thang (leaving Sat).  In-laws 50th anniversary... so they rented a house on the cape and are beckoning all their children and families in.  Here's hoping it is not a week of constant rain - not that I don't get along just fine with them; but to much togetherness and the bustle that goes with that can take an emotional toll.

So what's new with me.  Hang on; UPS guy just showed up.  OK back again.   My mom is having her farmhouse porch enlarged... so helping with the framing and roof last weekend and now wiring after work this week.  Guess it helps keep me out of the frig... but I did crack open a couple of beverages to sip while working.

Out of the rut (I mean routine) breakfast stuff.  I like apples sliced and eaten with some cheddar cheese.  I have also been known to slice off some of the roast chicken and heat it lightly. Sometimes with a sliver of cheese on it or try it with salsa.  Hard or soft-boiled eggs.  I still eat my old standby - oatmeal too.  Then there is the slippery stuff - yogurt with berries blended in. A bowl of different cut-up fruits; dip in yogurt or eat plain.   The Southbeach cookbook has a nice recipe for egg muffins that are good (I can dig it out and post it if you like).  If you are not trying to cut back or stay away from carbs - then rice warmed with milk and cinammon is another different twist. Cottage cheese with fruit or spices (nutmeg/cinnamon/ginger, etc) and a little splenda.  Hot *scrambled* tofu.  Anything sound appealing???

Sue - if you didn't get a mental "go-ahead" nudge on the job, then it is probably best left alone at this point.  I hope the woes that are causing division in your church family are addressed and put back on track soon too.

Connie - good reading/food diversion note.  I was actually the one that had some mental image of you blonde before you posted a picture.  Don't even ask me why.  The mind is a curious beast, ain't it?

Hope all those with aches/pains are on the mend and those like me that have been out of sorts are not eating themselves silly!!!  Hi to all new friends/family here!  And good luck to all those trying to ready their nest of offspring to go back to school or out into the world.

Keeping it short (well pretty short) and sweet for now. I apologize for not responding more one-on-one, but gotta run. See now, I am a poet today too.
Cheers, skn

O I eat a bite or two then I toss it in the garbage and dump something gross on top of it or feed it to the garbage disposal.

OH LUCY! I thought I was THE ONLY ONE who had to dump yucky stuff on top of goodies that I throw away!  I always do that.  Glad to know I'm not alone.

Just a quick general note - Hi to everyone. Connie thanks for keeping us all laughing. I hope your !!!!!!!!!s get Aly back soon. I sent a note to Jenny, but haven't heard back from her. Skn, thanks for the encouragement about my not taking that job. It was a hard decision and I still feel a little guilty. Yesterday was just a blue day for me, today is looking better. I still have a few worries to contend with -- like we all do.

You know I have this little rule that I don't generally report weight loss until it "sticks" for at least 3 days, but I am encouraged this AM by the scale. I just might have made it to the 40 pound mark. That would leave 5 pounds to my first goal, and another 20 after that to the final goal.

Take care everyone - hang in there and hope everyone under the weather (or IN the weather - i.e. rain) is doing well.

Skn - any vacation sounds good to me right now.  The rice dish sounds interesting.  My stepdaughter eats rice constantly so I need to tell her about that one.

Sue - CONGRATS ON THE 40!   That's so great.

I sabotaged myself today because I forgot to bring my keytag that they have to swipe for me to walk in the gym so now I'm locked in my office after eating my little healthy lunch while everyone outside is feeding their faces with the pizzas the boss brought in.  He does that ever so often and even though it's nice of him it's not making his employees healthier.Yell  I wonder if there is any left how much I can slip in the garbage and dump something yucky on top without being caught.Innocent

Have had a quick skim through the posts from last few days - as usual I see we are all having our ups and downs, and not just weight related, lol.

My daughter's shoulder is feeling much better - although still no appointment through from the orthopedic specialist.  She leaves for college again in 6 weeks so it is not looking likely that we will be able to consider surgery this time around.  Just pray that it doesnt give her too much trouble over the next few months.  I think regular physio will be the best option for now.  In the meantime, she is trying to put it out of her head!!

She today has started a 6 week job in the admin offices of Bacardi International here in bermuda - and is very excited to be earning some "proper" money before she heads back to England again.  The house has been VERY quiet today!!!  But I am thankful that it will keep her busy....and hopefully curtail her late night social hours with friends, ha ha.

I can't relate to the driving issues some of you have been discussing....Bermuda has some "different" policies.... car licence is not until age 18..but there is a rule of only owning one car per household, so there is not the same hurry to learn.  On the other hand though, the lkids can get their motorcycle licence (for 50cc's only) at age 16 so most of them are zipping around on scooters.  I hate seing some of their crazy antics on those bikes...and although I complain a lot about driving my daughter everywhere (and late night pick ups) I am thrilled that she decided not to have a bike!!!

Anyway...it's raining so mom's taxi promised to pick her up from work, ha ha, gotta run.....bye !!

Wow! THAT was a lot of reading!  You all are so busy and I'm just sitting here reading posts and have absolutely NOTHING to do today. I use to be a busy working mom, but no more. Kinda makes me sad. :(  You all make me want more out of my life.

Today's weigh in was a good one. I'm way down again. The lowest I've been in awhile. 174.4.....just one pound away from my lowest yet. Ya know, before the chinese food and all the junk I ate! lol  I weighed 178 yesterday! Numbers are crazy! I know I didn't feel or look 178!

So now I know I CAN get to 169 soon! I'm really psyched about this. :D

Think I'm going to the county fair this evening. I enjoy going to see all the exhibits and the animals (even though they stink!). Haven't been able to go for the last couple years because of my back and leg pain. So looking forward to going.

Well, enough of my novel! lol

Hi everyone!  Just wanted to let everyone know I'm doing much better today and yesterday.  I've been writing everything down and sticking to my limits (mostly!).  Still didn't have time to exercise.  I usually try to walk with my husband, too, it's the only time we have alone most days, so it's very important!  Today the specialist said that Mikayla is doing well but will need to see an orthopedic specialist about her foot.  Good to know everything else is good.  Also, she didn't scream bloody murder at this appointment! Laughing  Tomorrow a group of friends come over to swim so I'll be forced to sit by the pool for four hours in the afternoon and chat.  I'm really looking forward to that!

My weight went down a little today so that was encouraging, too.  I guess it's just been a good day all around!

Sorry I can't reply to everyone personally, I need to get older daughter in bed!  I did read about everyone and love trying to keep up!

Betsy

Oh, we just eat leftovers for breakfast most mornings!  The girls like noodle soup and rice, too, but I guess they're not very low cal!  Just eat whatever sounds good that's not going to be too many calories.  Really gotta go, my husband just asked if daughter was going to eat ice cream in the nude while sitting on the toilet!  AAAAHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Didn't go to the fair today. My son went and came home home early. He said it was boring. So I hung out with the kids and talked. Much better than walking at the fair. lol

Did good today with the eating. And walked a mile today. My leg just keeps giving me trouble when I start walking. The more I walk, the more it hurts. Not fun at all. I try to ignore it, but I get these stabbing pains in my thigh that really hurts. So much that I stop walking and look for a place to sit for a while.

Anyways, looking forward to weighing in the morning to see if the scale is gonna be nice to me.

By the way, my wedding rings are too big for my finger now! Had to put them away. But atleast I have my anniversary ring I can wear in its place. :)  So my finger isn't bear! :)  Don't know what I'm gonna do when it gets too big too. Hubby will have to get them sized for my new fingers! hehehe

Good morning ladies! Momo maybe the hubby will add a few "sparkly" things to your wedding set for lbs lost!!!! I didn't want to say carrots! LOL Crunch nom nom nom...which is what my husband (EX) would have probably given me!Cry Well I am just stuck at 135 I think for lifeUndecided! Just wanted to say hello this a.m. and prove I don't have to write a NOVEL a day!! Enjoy your day girls!  ConnieKiss

Hi all,

Suz -sounds like ya'll have a great life there.  Your daughter's life sounds so cool to me and London seems like a world away.  I'm having to live though everyone else's travels for now.

Momo- I've had my rings sized so much it's crazy.   They've been a 5 and 8 so many times.  They just yoyo with me.  I'm ready to get back to the 5 and stay there.

Betsy - Glad you're doing better.

Have a great day to all!!

Hi y'all

Just wanted to say thanks to all those who responded to my breakfast (what to eat when you don't like breakfast food) question. You've all inspired me to eat breakfast more often.

Have a great day.

Janet

Hi girls

Well reading the posts have worked again! I have went down to 133! I would like to take credit for being good but...all I can say is I haven't talked to my neighbor!!!! (the one with the potato salad and such). Have a healthy day!

Connie

Goodevening everyone

Still not being well and it raining and all, I picked up something I used to do a lot when I was younger: knitting! And guess what I forgot but now re-discovered: you can't eat and knit at the same timeYell

Talk to you later, gotta go knit some more...

Good job Connie!  Sometimes our friends and neighbors can really do in our eating programs.  My best friend in high school wore a size 1 and was always making fun of me when I was watching what I ate.  She lived on M&M's and Burger King Whoppers.  She would do the thing where she would take a bite of chocolate and go MMMMMMMM!  With a friend like that who needs enemies.  We pretty much parted ways after high school.  Our friends can also be our greatest supporters and I've had a few of those also.  BTW I saw my tiny sabotaging friend a couple of months ago at our class reunion and she had put on quite a few pounds herself.

truus - knitting or anything that keeps our hands away from food ROCKS!  I had a lot of fun trying to read your website without a lot of success but it looked really cool.

Janet - breakfast is a very important meal and I hope you find something you like to eat.  I love breakfast but then I haven't met a meal I didn't love.Laughing

Hi girls just checking in on ya! I'm sitting here misbehaving again. I got the stuff to make a bloody mary (thought that would be lighter calories than pina's) anyway spotted the little mini bottles of kahlua mudslides and wahlah here I sit with my 2nd! I skipped dinner for the drinks...boy I'm just full of good healthy ideas lately aren't I?? It's been a long day so I convinced myself I deserved it. My scales are in there grinning right now I just know it. You know that scales as a general rule are EVIL little creatures don't you? Well if you watch carefully they grin alot at night.....mine are "parked" right beside my fridge...thats why they grin alot at night! LOL They just raise they're eyebrows early in the mornings since I don't like breakfast much.....You all think I'm joking don't you? NO YOU THINK IM NUTS!!Surprised Well hope once again i have at least been entertaining for you! Have a great evening!Tongue out

Connie

Hi Everyone!

Momo-good for walking  even when it's difficult!  It does help even if I don't get many chances to do it lately.  I love it when my rings are too big, that means I'm making progress.

Connie-glad you're back down again.  It's so hard when the scales are not cooperating.  I do believe that they have evil grins, especially at night!

Tru-knitting sounds like a great way to keep your hands busy.  I used to cross stitch at night for the same purpose (well, to make things, too) and wish I could start again but with too many things going on right now I don't think I can add that one.

Lucy-there aren't many meals I don't like, either.  Or snacks!!!!

Hope everyone else is doing well.  I've been stuck at the same weight as the beginning of the week but I'm not gaining and I feel like I'm at least a little back in control of what I'm eating.  That's progress, even if it's just a little bit.

My oldest son has to have x rays tomorrow on his ankle.  He went to the doctor today.  He hurt it snowboarding this winter but it's bothering him again for some reason.  Hopefully it's something easy to fix!  Mikayla (baby) got a good report from her doctor on Tuesday but still has to go to two other specialists.  There are a lot of words floating around as her diagnosis but I think we understand what it is now at least.  She's been happy and seems to be adjusting well so that's what matters most right now.

Gotta go let my friends' dogs out.  One more day and then they're home.  I'll be glad that I don't have to make that extra trip with my two little ones twice a day!  Meleah has really enjoyed playing with the dogs, though.

Talk to you tomorrow!  Betsy

Hi to all

Betsy- you do sound really buzy, I remember all the riding to and fro, remembering what every doctor had said, being tired and still keeping your head clear all the time from when my Emma was ill all the time and finally after 1,5 years diagnozed with a special kind of asthma. I think it's more than just a little progress that you're taking control of your eating, that's what it's all about isn't it. Sounds like you're doing very well under the circumstances. Good luck with it all! But maybe you should pick up your cross stitching again, just to give you a little bit of time sitting down, not thinking of anything. I don't know much about it, but it doens't have to be big and complicated, does it? I mean, I've seen great projects with bigger threads and beautifully calm patterns - might give you a bit of space in your head. Just an idea.

Knitting does that to me - actually it made me work up the guts to get on my scales again - , yes Connie & co, I hate that thing, really, scary little bugger! So I never go more than once a week or less. But what do ya know - I lost another kilo (2,2lbs)Laughing That's 2 kilos (4,4 lbs) in a bit more than 2 weeks. Hey, can't remember when I hung into a diet for more than 2 weeks, but this time - we're going to go all the way, me and my scales!

Connie- you are sabotaging, why why why? Don't skip a meal, go DO something instead, work the drinks off. When you skip a meal, you end up tired etc - doesn't get you anywhere. Come on girl, you've come this far, you've earned the right to make it all the wayKiss

Lucy- my website yes, I have plans for an English version, but but but. About the name - "welinjevel" is from a Dutch expression that I love: When asked "how are you?", a Dutchman will answer: "I feel good in my skin" And isn't that something to aim for?

To all of you: have a really nice day, feeling good in your skins! Smile

Hi all!

Tru-Thanks for the encouragement. You will be proud of me. I stopped at the two small drinks and then had some tuna and wheat pasta! I, however, did not do anything to work off the drinks.UndecidedI ran all over so much yesterday that maybe that helped make a bit of difference!

Betsy- I hope that you somehow have a relaxing day. You are such an inspiration in many many ways. I love your daughters names if not being too nosy what are your son's names? If you say BOB or something "normal" instead of unusual I will be dissappointed! (not really). Hopefully the good reports will continue with all of your children!Innocent

Lucy-it seems that most of my friends are the MMMMMM types but it has also "caught up" with they're figures! teehehe! One of my eat anything long time friends is very arts/crafty and she is a "lightweight" but one of those that can eat anything and never gain so she probably has orange cheese doodle dust on most of her creations! LOLWink

Janet-I broke down yesterday and bought weight control no I think it was the more fiber oatmeal again....I ate so much of that stuff when I first started losing I swore to never let it touch my lips again but you do what you must right?! I also get the 2x the fiber bread by natures own (and spray I can't believe its not butter) on it which is very good (just the spray is 0 calories). All the extra fiber did an excellant job at taking my weight down and keeping me full longer. Sealed

Momo-were those scales grinning or raising eye brows?! LOL Hope you are doing well. Be careful with that leg stuff. Stabbing pains sounds like it shouldn't be ignored hon.Cry

Ok HELLO to everyone else out there that are vacationing or slacking! I really am concerned about Jen and Aly though. Where are they seriously? Have they given up on us or just out enjoying life?Cool

Later friends!  Oh can someone do a rain dance. we never got the showers we were promised and are in a terrible drought!Surprised

Hi all!

Sorry to cause concern!Frown I have made a quick trip here to Oregon for an unexpected Funeral. My last aunt passed away, and although she was 83, we didn't have any warning. So, give me a few days here to help out my folks and serve up a luncheon, and I'll be back next week I promise! Otherwise all is well with me!
